Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in Marrakech, and honestly? Most of them try way too hard to be “authentic” with all the over-the-top traditional décor that feels more like a theme park than Morocco. The Park Hyatt out at Al Maaden is different though – it actually gets it right, probably because it’s not trying to smack you in the face with every Moroccan cliche in the book.

The thing that struck me first was how quiet it is. You’re about 20 minutes from the chaos of the medina (which you’ll appreciate after spending a day dodging motorbikes on those narrow streets), but you’re right on this gorgeous golf course that stretches out toward the Atlas Mountains. I mean, the drive there takes you through some pretty unremarkable suburbs, but once you’re inside those gates, it’s like stepping into this completely different world. The lobby has these massive windows that frame the mountains perfectly – honestly, I probably spent too much time just sitting there with my coffee in the morning watching the light change on those peaks.

What really won me over was the attention to detail without all the fuss. The rooms are spacious (and I mean actually spacious, not hotel-brochure spacious), with these beautiful marble bathrooms and terraces that look out over either the golf course or the pool. The bed was ridiculously comfortable – you know how sometimes hotel beds are either too soft or feel like sleeping on concrete? This one was just right. And the air conditioning actually works properly, which if you’ve been to Morocco in summer, you’ll know is not something to take for granted. The pool area is where you’ll probably end up spending most of your time though. It’s this long, sleek infinity pool that seems to disappear into the golf course, and there are these private cabanas if you want to escape the sun. The service there is spot-on too – they remember your drink order after the first day, which is always a nice touch.

I’ll be honest, it’s not cheap, and you’re definitely paying for that location away from the city center. But if you’re looking for a place where you can actually relax and decompress (maybe play some golf if that’s your thing), and you don’t mind taking a taxi into town when you want to explore, it’s pretty hard to beat. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work, and they’re great at helping you figure out day trips or restaurant reservations in the city. Plus, coming back to those mountain views and that pool after a hot day wandering around the souks? That’s worth the extra drive time, trust me.

  Brand new luxury hotel , everything is pristine and very well looked after , gorgeous rooms with high tech facilities. The staff are the best thing about the hotel , incredible service and each staff member goes out of the way to help with your every need , they represent the Moroccan people in the most beautiful way possible.
  Special thank you to the therapists at the spa each one very special . The boys at the pool are lovely and so welcoming . And the waiters at the Asian restaurant in front of the pool and especially wonderful . Thank you to everyone for your incredible work it really shows .
