Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Piscine-Résidence haut de Gamme on Boulevard Oued Issil, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name sounds a bit pretentious, doesn’t it? But you know what, it actually delivers on that upscale promise without being stuffy about it. This place sits in a quieter part of Marrakech, away from the madness of Jemaa el-Fnaa (thank god), but you’re still only about a 15-minute taxi ride from all the action when you want it.

The pool – which I’m guessing is what “piscine” is all about – is honestly the star of the show here. It’s this gorgeous, mosaic-tiled thing that catches the light perfectly in the late afternoon, and there’s enough space around it that you don’t feel like you’re sharing a kiddie pool with fifty other people. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place – clean, comfortable, with that modern Moroccan aesthetic that works without trying too hard. I mean, the AC actually works properly (not always a given in Morocco), and the beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you slept on a cloud made of marshmallows. The bathrooms are decent sized too, which matters when you’re dealing with all that red dust from exploring the city.

What really sets this place apart though is the staff – they seem to actually care about what they’re doing, not just going through the motions. Check-in was smooth, they helped arrange a driver for us without the usual runaround, and honestly, the breakfast spread was better than I expected. You get your standard hotel fare, but they throw in some local touches that make it feel less generic. The location on Boulevard Oued Issil is perfect if you want to experience Marrakech without being overwhelmed by it – there’s a good café about two blocks down where locals actually hang out, and you can walk to some decent restaurants without navigating the tourist traps. Parking isn’t a nightmare either, which is saying something in this city. The only thing I’d warn you about is that it can get a bit busy during peak season (February through April), so the pool area loses some of that serene vibe, but even then, it’s manageable. For the price point and that 8.5 rating, you’re getting solid value – it’s the kind of place where you can actually relax between all the haggling and sightseeing.
