So I stumbled across this riad completely by accident – well, honestly, I was trying to find another place and got lost in the medina’s maze (which happens to everyone, don’t worry). But wow, what a find. This private riad on Derb Jamaa is literally a five-minute walk from Jemaa El Fna, which sounds close but actually means you’re far enough from the main square’s chaos to sleep peacefully. You know what I mean – you can still hear the distant drums and snake charmers during the day, but it’s more atmospheric than overwhelming.

The thing that got me was walking through that heavy wooden door and suddenly being in this completely different world. I mean, the contrast is wild – one second you’re dodging motorbikes and navigating narrow alleyways, and the next you’re in this gorgeous courtyard with traditional tiles and that amazing Moroccan light filtering down. The three bedrooms are actually spacious (not always a given in riads), and each has its own character. The salon area is perfect for those moments when you want to escape the midday heat – I spent way too much time there with mint tea and my book. But honestly, the real star is that rooftop terrace with the jacuzzi. After a day of getting lost in the souks and haggling over carpets, soaking up there while watching the sunset over the Atlas Mountains… it’s pretty magical. The jacuzzi isn’t huge, but it’s perfect for couples or small groups, and the views are incredible.

What really impressed me was how the owners clearly know their stuff about hospitality. The 9.2 rating isn’t just numbers – you feel it in the details. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the property (trust me, this matters), and they’ve got the air conditioning sorted, which is crucial during those scorching summer months. The location is brilliant too – Derb Jamaa is one of those streets where you’ll start recognizing the local shopkeepers and the best spots for fresh orange juice. You’re close enough to walk to the Bahia Palace or the Saadian Tombs without breaking a sweat, but far enough from the tourist traps to feel like you’re experiencing the real Marrakech. I loved how quiet it gets at night – well, quiet by Marrakech standards anyway. You’ll still hear the call to prayer and the occasional late-night conversation echoing off the walls, but it’s part of the charm. The only thing I’d mention is that finding it the first time can be tricky (grab a screenshot of the exact location), but once you know the way, it becomes second nature. This place genuinely feels like staying in someone’s beautifully restored family home rather than a hotel, which is exactly what you want from a riad experience.

  Our stay in this Riad was great! We loved being only between us (groupe of girls for a hen do). The terrace upstairs is really nice too.
  This riad has everything you need to spend a good time with friends or family. The location is great too!

  What could be improved: Wc’s ook zonder papier trekken niet elke keer heel goed door. Het dakraam lekt bij regen, op zich stroomt het snel weg en niets beschadigd, maar het is makkelijker om even te repareren.

  Buen ubicado. A unos 10 minutos de la plaza, todos los dormitorios con sus baños y duchas lo que servía mucho a la hora de prepararnos.

  What could be improved: Por poner algo negativo quizás que no tuviera un horno, y que de alguna parte del techo se colaron 2 pajaritos a la casa que al final pudimos sacar.

  Great location if interested to stay in Medina with all markets and traditional shopping in the area. Near to most good restaurants. Large apartment with toilet to each bathroom which was a luxury. Easy meet up to get keys. In general a good stay.
  
  What could be improved: Toilet did not function fully ie flash did not work so toilet paper stayed. Something they probably will fix after we inform them.

  Riad très propre. Cuisine fonctionnelle.
  Propriétaire très serviable.

  Was collected by the host by the entrance of old medina. Incredibly friendly and could be approached by WhatsApp for any queries. Location was great- riad only couple minutes walk from the main road and market although seems like in an alleyway. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Each room had an AC which was great in the 40 degrees heat outside. Great living room and tv room area.
  
  What could be improved: Would have preferred a shower that's separate flooring to the toilet. No cupboard in room to hang clothes.
