Riad 1001 couleurs Overview
Look, I’ll be straight with you about Riad 1001 couleurs – it’s one of those places that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special without trying too hard to impress you. Tucked away on Zaouia Abassia in the heart of the medina, this riad sits in what I’d call the sweet spot of Marrakech. You’re close enough to hear the call to prayer from the nearby mosque (honestly, it becomes oddly comforting after the first night), but far enough from the main Jemaa el-Fnaa chaos that you can actually have a conversation without shouting.
The building itself has that authentic medina charm – you know, the kind where you walk through an unassuming door and suddenly find yourself in this gorgeous courtyard that makes you do a double-take. The traditional tilework is actually well-maintained here, not like some places where it’s chipping and they just call it “rustic character.” What really got me was the rooftop terrace situation – I mean, you can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days, and there’s something about having mint tea up there while watching the city wake up that just… works. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood; they pointed me toward this little bakery about three minutes away where locals actually go for khubz, not the tourist-priced stuff.
Practically speaking, the 8.9 rating makes sense once you’re there. The rooms have proper air conditioning (trust me, this matters in summer), and the Wi-Fi actually reaches most corners – I was working from the courtyard without issues. Check-in was smooth, though like most riads, finding the actual entrance can be a bit of an adventure if you’re coming from the main roads. The narrow streets mean no car access, obviously, but they’ll arrange to meet you at one of the parking areas nearby if you’re driving. Noise levels are pretty reasonable considering you’re in the medina – you’ll hear some street sounds and the occasional motorbike, but nothing that kept me up. The breakfast setup is simple but solid, with fresh bread and local honey that’s actually local, not imported and marked up. One small thing – the traditional low seating isn’t for everyone, especially if you have back issues, but they do have regular chairs if you ask. Overall, it’s the kind of place that delivers on the riad experience without the pretense, and at this price point in this location, that’s honestly hard to find.

Perfect stay – Dorina from Hungary – 14 May 2025 (10/10)
Wonderful stay in Marrakesh! We really felt at home, such hospitality is rare to experience. Azadine and Zach our hosts were real angels with us the whole time, helping us in everything they could. Wonderful breakfast, the riad was also very nicely decorated. They looked after your every wish. The city can be a bit stressful and chaotic but this accommodation is an island of peace. Thank you again for your hospitality, it was wonderful and we will remember it.
The best stay ever! – Joss from United Kingdom – 28 February 2025 (10/10)
Truly exceptional attention and accommodation from the staff. Zach (or Zak sorry haha) was extremely helpful! Great free breakfast, at the time we wished. Beautiful Riad, rooms are Comfy, nice and quiet. And has a rooftop!
What could be improved: Location is a bit further out from the centre but we didn’t mind. Still easily walkable.Amazing staff and good value – Samir from Italy – 25 February 2025 (10/10)
Staff was at our disposal for every request and really accommodating: we felt at home!
Exceptional – Sally from United Kingdom – 25 January 2025 (10/10)
A calm, comfortable oasis in a bustling city. The host went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed. Excellent breakfast of local bread, pancakes, juices and preserves. Would happily stay here again.
What could be improved: Not a criticism of the riad in any way, but be aware taxis can't get right to the door due to narrow streets, so expect a short walk on arrival.Exceptional – Alessandra from Italy – 15 January 2025 (10/10)
Great guesthouse in Marrakech. The host warmly welcomed us and really went the extra mile to accomodate all of our needs. I can’t thank him enough! I highly recommend staying in this Ryad!

Highly recommend! – Sampathawaduge from United Kingdom – 1 January 2025 (10/10)
We were picked up by a driver arranged by Asdine (the Riad owner) for just around €10. Upon arrival, Asdine greeted us warmly and gave us a tour of the Riad. He’s an excellent host and shared valuable insights about the city, along with his recommendations for shopping and restaurants.
The breakfast was a traditional Moroccan breakfast, served at a time that was convenient for us.
He also arranged a tour for us to visit the Ourika Valley, which cost around €20 per person.
The Riad is located towards the north of the Medina, but everything was within walking distance.
Highly recommended!Exceptional – Taylor from United Kingdom – 16 December 2024 (10/10)
Excellent hospitality from Azdine and Zacharia. Very clean room cleaned daily. Great breakfast and the best food of my trip was when Azdine took me to eat at he's favorite local street food vendor. All in all a superb riad would highly recommend 👌

Staying at Riad 1001 Couleurs was an unforgettable experience, thanks to the warm hospitality and incredible charm of this place. From the moment we arrived, the host went above and beyond to make us feel at home. His kindness, attention to detail, and genuine care for his guests truly set this riad apart.
The riad itself is a masterpiece of color and design, with each corner showcasing traditional Moroccan artistry. Our room was cozy and vibrant.
We had lovely breakfast spread with freshly baked pastries, fruit, and the best mint tea we had in Marrakech. The host went as far as teaching me how to make the Moroccan mint tea when I mentioned how much I loved it! His recommendations for local restaurants and hidden gems in the medina made exploring the city so much easier and more enjoyable.
The rooftop terrace, with its stunning views of the medina and Atlas Mountains, was the perfect place to unwind after a day of adventures. The riad’s location is central yet peaceful, offering the best of both worlds.
The host’s hospitality made this stay truly special. If you’re visiting Marrakech, Riad 1001 Couleurs is an absolute must—don’t miss the chance to experience this magical place and its wonderful host. This is a home away from home. Don’t hesitate ! Book it !

Everything, specially the owner Azedine, very welcoming and a great host.
We were warmly welcomed by Azedine and his staff Zakeria.
The Riad is very well decorated and kept very clean.
I witnessed the owner's hard work and passion going into setting up this beautiful Riad.
The staircase is beautifully decorated, the terrace has all the features of authentic vibes of the city with loungers and sitting area.
The rooms are all beautiful, cosy and we left with all the beautiful memories and delicious tea that we enjoyed the most 😉
