Riad 92 – Architect’s Riad in the Exclusive Dar El Bacha Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Riad 92? I’d walked past that narrow entrance on Derb El Halfaoui probably a dozen times before actually staying there, and honestly, from the street it just looks like another doorway in the medina’s maze. But step inside and — wow. This architect clearly knew what they were doing because every single detail feels intentional, from the way the light hits the central courtyard in the morning to how the rooms are positioned so you actually get some quiet despite being right in the heart of things.
The location is pretty brilliant if you know Marrakech at all. Dar El Bacha isn’t where most tourists end up, which means you’re getting that authentic medina experience without constantly dodging other visitors with their phones out. I mean, you’re still close enough to hit Jemaa el-Fnaa in about ten minutes on foot, but you can actually hear yourself think here. The riad sits on one of those typical medina side streets where the walls are high and the passage is narrow, so it stays surprisingly cool even when it’s blazing outside. What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to know every shortcut and back route — they’d give you directions that actually made sense instead of just pointing vaguely toward the main square.
The rooms themselves feel like someone’s elegant home rather than a hotel, which I suppose makes sense given the whole architect angle. The 4-star rating is about right — it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but everything works properly (crucial in a riad, trust me) and the design details are genuinely beautiful. The traditional tilework isn’t just slapped on for show; it flows naturally with more contemporary touches that somehow don’t clash. Breakfast in the courtyard became my favorite part of each day, especially since they serve it when you want it rather than during some rigid window. The rooftop terrace gives you those classic medina views everyone’s after, but without feeling like you’re performing for Instagram. I’d definitely go back — actually, I’m already planning to next time I’m in Marrakech, which probably tells you everything you need to know.

Seh schönes privates Riad mit marrokanischem Flair an sehr guter Lage etwas ausserhalb der Souks.
Bequeme Betten.
What could be improved: Nebenan wird ein neues Riad gebaut, weshalb wir leider täglich Baulärm hatten. One of the best holidays we have ever had – Adriana from Romania – 17 November 2024 (10/10)
The place was absolutely magical. We loved everything about it: from cozy places where you could relax, to the fact that we could see the sky just in the intima of our yard. And also, the breakfast, was absolutely delicious.
What could be improved: We don’t have any complaintsExceptional – Rose from Australia – 24 October 2024 (10/10)

Good location and beautiful inside – Khaled from United Kingdom – 27 August 2023 (8/10)
It was big, spacious and beautiful inside
What could be improved: The AC in one of the bedrooms didn't work properly. The water flow in one of the bathrooms was extremely poor rendering it unusable especially in the evenings.A wonderful stay for our first visit to Morocco. Choice of Riad over a hotel was definitely the right decision. – Anonymous from United Kingdom – 18 August 2023 (8/10)
Character features
Well maintained and well equipped to a high standard
spacious, excellent WiFi throughout
TV with Netflix / Amazon access was very useful with the super hot weather and teenage boys
Latifa was very friendly and a real asset to the Riad – she came daily and cleaned as if it was her own home. She also made delicious breakfast daily and her Tagines were amazing.
Oualid was also easily accessible on WhatsApp and promptly responded day or night with any advice required.
What could be improved: Main bedroom air conditioner was ineffective in such hot weather for 2 reasons – should be in bedroom not bathroom area also the fixed mirror in bathroom was blocking the air flow.
Despite Latifa’s excellent cleaning – ants were an isssue in the heat especially in kitchen and small downstairs bedroom. Providing a bug spray we could use would have been helpful.
As the Riad is further away from the main road and cobblestone street – taking suitcases can be difficult with so many motorcyclists driving through as well. We noticed some riads using cart/ trolley to help clients move luggage to the main road- something to consider possibly.
