Riad Aderbaz Overview
You know what really struck me about Riad Aderbaz? The moment you step off the narrow cobblestones of Derb Al Foundouk – and I mean, you’ll definitely need directions because these old medina streets all look the same – you’re suddenly in this completely different world. The contrast is honestly pretty dramatic. One second you’re dodging motorbikes and navigating around donkey carts in the Sidi Mimoune quarter, and the next you’re in this peaceful courtyard with traditional zellij tilework that actually looks like it was done by craftsmen who knew what they were doing, not some tourist trap knockoff.
The thing about staying in this part of the medina is that you’re close enough to the action without being right in the chaos of Jemaa el-Fnaa (which, trust me, gets overwhelming fast). From Riad Aderbaz, it’s maybe a 10-minute walk to the main square, but you can actually sleep at night because you’re tucked away in a residential area where locals live. I loved hearing the call to prayer echoing off the walls in the early morning – it’s one of those sounds that really makes you feel like you’re somewhere special. The staff here gets it too; they’re not pushy about tours or shopping trips like some places I’ve stayed in Marrakech. They’ll give you solid directions to the tanneries or point you toward the better food stalls, but they’re not constantly trying to sell you something.
What really impressed me was how they’ve kept the authentic riad feel while making it comfortable for travelers who, let’s be honest, still want a good shower and reliable wifi. The rooms have that traditional Moroccan vibe – you know, the carved plaster work and heavy wooden doors – but the beds are actually comfortable and the bathrooms work properly. The rooftop terrace is where you’ll probably spend your evenings, especially if you’re there during the cooler months. You can see over the medina walls to the Atlas Mountains on clear days, and it’s the perfect spot for mint tea after a long day of wandering through the souks. The only thing I’d mention is that like most riads, the rooms can be a bit dark since they face inward toward the courtyard, but honestly, that’s part of the charm. Plus, when it’s 100 degrees outside in summer, you’ll appreciate the cool, dim spaces. The 8.8 rating makes total sense – this isn’t luxury resort territory, but it’s exactly what a good riad should be: authentic, comfortable, and run by people who actually care about giving you a real taste of Marrakech.

Great location, quiet but only a short walk to the main square, souks and other historic sites. Great views from the roof top terrace. Friendly and welcoming staff. Limited but tasty breakfast. Authentic Riad hospitality.
What could be improved: For the price, nothing for us. Not suitable for people with accessibility issues due to tight steps to the rooms.Superb – Kyriakos_agap from Greece – 9 May 2025 (9/10)
The rooms were clean. We need to leave early in the morning, so our host gives us breakfast in a bag for the journey. Too close also in the Medina.

Beautiful typically Moroccan Riad – Stephanie from Netherlands – 22 March 2025 (9/10)
Upon arrival, we were very well received with a smile and a tea while we filled out our paperwork, then we were taken to our room which fully met our expectations. Beautiful, typically Moroccan Riad, clean and well maintained, and ideally located if you are on a girls' trip, you will feel safe returning in the evening. Very kind and attentive staff.
