Riad Adriana Overview
You know what? I’ve stayed at quite a few riads in Marrakech over the years, and Riad Adriana honestly surprised me. It’s tucked away on Derb Jdid in the Bab Doukkala neighborhood – and I mean really tucked away. The first time I went looking for it, I walked past the entrance twice because these traditional doorways all look similar until you get your bearings. But that’s actually part of the charm, isn’t it? You’re staying in the real medina, not some tourist bubble.
The location is pretty perfect if you ask me. Bab Doukkala is one of those neighborhoods where you’ll see more locals than tourists on the street, which I love. There’s this fantastic little bakery about two minutes’ walk away where the bread comes out warm at 7 AM – the staff at Riad Adriana will point you toward it. You’re also close enough to Jemaa el-Fnaa that you can walk there in about ten minutes, but far enough that you don’t hear the drum circles at night (trust me on this one). The narrow streets can get a bit confusing after dark, but it’s never felt unsafe, and honestly, getting a little lost is half the fun.
What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail – and I’m not talking about fancy amenities or anything like that. The courtyard has this beautiful fountain that’s actually functional, not just decorative, and the sound of the water is incredibly soothing after a day of navigating the souks. The staff here genuinely knows the city. When I asked about finding a specific type of carpet, they didn’t just give me directions to the tourist shops – they connected me with someone their family has known for years. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t fake. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a traditional riad – thick walls that keep things cool, beautiful tilework, and thankfully, really good Wi-Fi (because let’s be honest, we all need that). I will say the stairs are pretty steep if you’re staying on the upper floors, but that’s typical for these old buildings.
The breakfast situation is worth mentioning too. They serve it on the rooftop terrace, and you can actually see the Atlas Mountains on clear days. The mint tea is proper Moroccan style – sweet enough to make your teeth hurt, but in the best way possible. During Ramadan, the whole rhythm of the neighborhood changes, and you’ll hear the call to prayer from several mosques at once. It’s beautiful, actually, though it might catch you off guard if you’re not expecting it. The 9.4 rating makes sense when you experience how smoothly everything runs – check-in was seamless, housekeeping was thorough without being intrusive, and they helped arrange everything from airport transfers to day trips to the Atlas Mountains. I mean, you’re paying for a 4-star experience, and that’s exactly what you get, but with the warmth and character that only comes from a family-run place that’s been doing this for years.

Riad Adriana is a wonderful guesthouse, the staff were so friendly and nice. They wanted to do everything for us in this very hot weather that was during our stay. We had a family room that accommodated a family of 5 very well. Two rooms with a toilet between them. The beds were very comfortable and I can't help but thank you for the air conditioning in the rooms in this very hot weather. It was unique to sit on the balcony and eat breakfast that was homemade Moroccan style. The location was very good in terms of distance to the square and the market streets.

What could be improved: NothingCultural visit to old town Marrakech – Susan from United Kingdom – 21 April 2025 (10/10)
The staff and surroundings within the riad were exceptional. Friendly and peaceful atmosphere within the centre of the old cultural Medina.
What could be improved: There was an element of cultural shock but I was so glad I experienced this. So quite honestly I disliked nothing. It was a lovely city break.
