Riad Aïcha Kitchen Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked down derb lahbab looking for Riad Aïcha Kitchen – honestly, the narrow alley seemed a bit sketchy at first glance, and I was second-guessing my booking. But then you step through that unassuming wooden door and it’s like someone flipped a switch. The whole place opens up into this gorgeous traditional courtyard with intricate tilework that’s clearly been lovingly maintained, not just slapped together for tourists. The name gives away their main draw – the kitchen experience is actually incredible, and I mean that in the best possible way. They don’t just serve you tagine and call it a day; the staff (who genuinely seem to enjoy what they’re doing) will walk you through how everything’s prepared if you’re interested. The mint tea alone is worth the stay – they serve it in the courtyard around 4 PM when the light hits just right, and you can hear the call to prayer echoing off the medina walls.
What really sets this place apart is how it feels authentically Moroccan without being overwhelming for first-time visitors. The rooms are comfortable – not luxury resort level, but solid 4-star with good AC (crucial in summer, trust me) and surprisingly quiet considering you’re right in the heart of the medina. I stayed in October and barely heard any street noise, which was a pleasant surprise since the souks can get pretty chaotic during the day. The location is actually perfect for exploring – you’re maybe a 5-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa square, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with constant hustlers and tour groups right outside your door. The staff knows the medina like the back of their hand, and they’ll give you directions that actually make sense instead of just pointing vaguely toward the main square. Plus, they seem to have good relationships with local artisans, so if you’re looking for authentic carpets or leather goods, they’ll point you toward the real deal instead of the tourist traps.
Here’s the thing though – this isn’t a place where you’ll get pampered with a spa and room service. It’s more about the experience of staying in a traditional riad while still having modern comforts. The breakfast spread is generous and includes fresh local bread and olives, though it’s served at set times so don’t expect to roll down at 11 AM. The 8.3 rating makes sense to me – it’s not perfect (the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, and the hot water takes a minute to kick in), but it delivers on what it promises. If you’re looking for an authentic medina experience without sacrificing comfort, and you actually want to engage with Moroccan culture rather than just Instagram it, Riad Aïcha Kitchen hits that sweet spot. Just remember to bring small bills for tips – the staff goes above and beyond, and it’s appreciated.

Reviews of Riad Aïcha Kitchen
Very good – Francisco from Spain – 5 March 2025 (8/10)
Mohammed and the staff were great, the location is awesome, and the breakfast delicious
What could be improved: The glass walls and distance to the corridors makes the rooms noisy in the morningsVery good – Melisa from United States – 12 November 2024 (8/10)
our host's welcoming was perfect. Our host prepared a breakfast package for us. That was delicious 🙂
Superb – Cátia from Portugal – 7 May 2024 (9/10)
Said was really nice and super sweet

And we had to leave early and he made an early breakfest for us that was really Nice! The accomodations are nice and clean and has everithing you needA very modern, clean riad ideal for those who like to spend time exploring, eating outside and not looking for a riad wi – Tamara from Switzerland – 26 March 2024 (7/10)
Friendly staff, super location right by main square, super clean.
What could be improved: The original idea of 'juice bar n kitchen' no longer is active.. so there was no food / drinks on roof terrasse apart from breakfast..
Which was ok but the name 'aicha kitchen' is somewhat misleading 😉Great place and easy access to the main attractions. – Shibu from United Kingdom – 4 March 2024 (9/10)
Served traditional breakfast and which was good.
Easy access to amenities.
The staffs were very helpful.
What could be improved: Nothing much or serious, though the bathroom sink , water drains slowly and the water on the floor after shower drains slowly, if you could like at that that will be great, but overall stay was very good.Highly recommended – Lisa from United Kingdom – 29 February 2024 (9/10)
Our room is very clean and close to the main square. They serve breakfast (with extra charge). The rooftop is very nice.

It’s central location is fantastic, the design is very nice.
What could be improved: Thé lobby and dining room were sometimes cold for breakfast. An authentic Moroccan experience with a modern twist . – Mahomed from South Africa – 29 December 2023 (9/10)
Excellent and convenient location- 50m away from Jemaa el-Fnaa. It’s a modern, clean and neat riad. The rooftop lounge was spectacular and had an amazing sunrise and sunset view. Saeed cooked us a lovely breakfast everyday and the staff were very helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
What could be improved: Everything was good.Good – Aviator from Spain – 11 November 2023 (7/10)
Good location, minimalist interior design if you like it. Very clean even taking the fact they are demolishing the house next door. Nice staff.
What could be improved: No privacy in the room, you can hear everyone on the stairs. No ventilation in toilet and in room – just small window to staircase. This is more a B&B that a Riad. Breakfast was realy basic, so we had it only once. Was comfortable – Angela from Tanzania – 17 October 2023 (9/10)
Staff are very very friendly and helpful
