I’ll be honest – I wasn’t sure what to expect from Riad Al-Bushra when I first navigated through the winding alleys of the Qariah siyyahia residential area. You know how it is with riads tucked away in these newer developments outside the medina – sometimes you get a hidden gem, sometimes you get a place that’s trying too hard. This one? Well, it’s definitely the former. The moment you step through those heavy wooden doors, there’s this immediate sense of calm that washes over you. The traditional courtyard design actually works here – they’ve got the proportions right, so it doesn’t feel cramped like some of the smaller riads I’ve stayed in. The fountain in the center isn’t just for show either; on those sweltering Marrakech afternoons (and trust me, they get intense), you can actually hear the water trickling from your room, which is surprisingly soothing.

What really sets this place apart though is how they’ve managed to keep things authentic without sacrificing comfort. The rooms – I mean, they’re not huge, but they’re thoughtfully designed with these gorgeous tadelakt walls that feel cool to the touch even when it’s blazing outside. The beds are actually decent too, which isn’t always a given in traditional riads. I’ve slept on some pretty questionable mattresses in my time exploring Morocco. The staff here genuinely knows their stuff about the city – not just the tourist spots, but the real Marrakech. They pointed me toward this little hammam about ten minutes away that I never would have found on my own, and honestly, it was one of the highlights of my trip. The breakfast spread is solid too, served up on the rooftop terrace where you can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days. Nothing fancy, but fresh bread, local honey, and that perfect mint tea that somehow tastes different when you’re looking out over the red city.

The location works in your favor if you’re not dead set on staying right in the medina chaos. Yeah, you’ll need to grab a taxi or walk about fifteen minutes to get to Jemaa el-Fnaa, but that also means you’re not dealing with the constant noise and hassle that comes with being right in the thick of things. The neighborhood itself is pretty quiet – mostly locals, a few cafés, and you can actually get a good night’s sleep without earplugs. Parking isn’t an issue if you’re driving, which is rare for Marrakech accommodations. The 8.8 rating makes sense to me – it’s the kind of place that gets the fundamentals right without any major surprises, good or bad. If you’re looking for that authentic riad experience but want to be able to retreat somewhere peaceful at the end of the day, this spot hits that sweet spot perfectly.

• It´s a good base for exploring the city – Henrique from Portugal – 25 June 2025 (7/10)

  Location is good, outside the Medina so it´s ideal for those who want a base from which to explore the area around Marrakesh (desert, waterfalls, etc) perhaps not so ideal for those who´s trip is focused on the city itself since you have to walk a lot everyday.
  House is large enough and quiet. The host was very kind and available on whatsapp.
  
  What could be improved: There are a few essentials which were missing such as bin bags, toilet paper etc. All the dishes and cutlery we used had to be washed because they were greasy/dirty, house is good condition on the ground floor, the rest not so much… Only one of the showers worked properly, and one of the loos would not discharge. Also the A/C on the bedrooms are very old and noisy, the bedoom furniture is tatty with door hinges hanging etc and drawers with random stuff inside (batteries, old remotes).
  Wi-fi was poor, disconnected every overnight and killed my mobile data. Really needs someway to cool down the living room (maybe a fan?) gets really hot with the large skylight and no windows for ventilation. Also don´t put too many expectations on using the swimming pool (we tried 3 times and was always overcrowded with a lot of noisy children and teenagers running around and jumping).

  Wow! Prachtig huis Total Marco experience. Geweldig. Lijkt wel een stad in een stad.
  Jammer genoeg geen tijd voor het zwembad gehad. Gastheer is niet zelf aanwezig maar onwijs vriendelijk en heeft ons persoonlijk via FaceTime genavigeerd want we waren verdwaald.

  Le calme de la résidence, le petit restaurant très pratique , on y mange bien pour un prix très raisonnable

  Première fois au Maroc, seule avec ma fille, et je me suis sentie rassurée et bien accompagnée !
  J’ai apprécié d’être contactée quelques heures avant pour évoquer les détails de notre arrivée dans le logement.
  
  J’ai adoré l’espace incroyable de ce Riad traditionnel, son charme authentique, sa propreté irréprochable et son emplacement idéal.
  
  L’accueil chaleureux, la gentillesse et la disponibilité de Jallal ont vraiment fait la différence, avec ses explications claires et sa réactivité.
  
  La piscine est magnifique, et le rooftop est un véritable havre de paix.
  
  De plus, le quartier est sécurisé, avec la possibilité de prendre un petit déjeuner à petit prix à proximité ou faire des petites courses.

  The place did actually look great and I had pushed the boat out!
  
  What could be improved: I was literally thrown out as I was travelling with a Moroccan guide ( I had booked two bedrooms) The manager was going to offer an alternative flat – I refused – there was an issue with asking for a refund. I asked to see the policy, which I was supposed to have read , nothing in the Booking.Com rules???

  The host was great,very attentive, and professional. Gave us some good tips and organised our trip to waterfalls. We had a great time on the trip,with a private driver.Comfortable and very reasonably priced.
  Accommodation itself was great!Big,easily could fit at least 6 people. 3 beutifull double rooms,all with showers and toilets,great living room,comfortable kitchen.Nice and lovely terrace.Pool is great,easy accessed.Riad is in a great location,felt very safe.Few shops and a farmacy. Cafees and restorants in the area are good only for hot drinks,food not so good,we tried them all.I would reccomend to go a bit further,more to the old medina or new part of Marrakech.
