Riad Al Ksar & Spa Overview
You know what struck me first about Riad Al Ksar & Spa? The location is actually pretty clever – it’s tucked away in the Mellah quarter on this narrow street called Derb Ati Allah, which honestly took our taxi driver a few tries to find. But that’s sort of the beauty of it, because once you’re inside those heavy wooden doors, you’re in this completely different world while still being walkable to everything that matters in Marrakech.
The riad itself has that classic Moroccan courtyard setup with the central fountain and all, but what I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to keep it feeling authentic without being stuffy about it. The spa is actually worth mentioning – I mean, you’re in Morocco, so you’d expect a decent hammam, but theirs is genuinely relaxing and the staff knows what they’re doing. The rooms vary quite a bit (we stayed in one of the upstairs ones with a little balcony overlooking the courtyard), and while the decor is beautiful in that traditional way, some of the bathrooms could use a refresh – nothing deal-breaking, just showing their age a bit. The breakfast is served in the courtyard, and it’s one of those experiences where you’ll find yourself lingering way longer than planned, especially in the morning when the light hits just right.
What really sold me on this place though is how the staff genuinely seems to care about helping you navigate Marrakech. They’ll arrange the usual things like airport transfers and day trips, but they also gave us these incredibly specific directions to places we never would have found otherwise – like this tiny spice shop in the medina that’s been run by the same family for generations, or the best time to visit the Saadian Tombs to avoid the crowds. The location means you’re about a 10-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa (though honestly, that can feel longer when you’re trying to navigate the medina streets at first), and it’s actually closer to some of the less touristy parts of the old city, which I loved. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet at night, which is perfect if you want to escape the intensity of central Marrakech but still be close enough to dive back in whenever you want. It’s not the fanciest riad in the city, and the 7.5 rating feels about right – there are definitely more luxurious options if that’s what you’re after. But if you want something that feels genuinely Moroccan, where the staff treats you like family, and you don’t mind a few quirks in exchange for real character, this place delivers exactly what you’d hope for from a Marrakech riad experience.

Reviews of Riad Al Ksar & Spa
Good – Nichola from United Kingdom – 10 December 2023 (7/10)
It was well placed for sight-seeing, the room was clean and comfortable, it had a Hammam and sold alcohol…! The staff were always very helpful and nothing was ever too much trouble
Lovely traditional Moroccan Riad in the old town. – Tonia from United Kingdom – 11 April 2023 (8/10)
Beautiful Riad with stunning roof top area.
Good location – you can easily get around the old town on foot from here.
Excellent friendly staff.
Clean & tidy.
Traditional Moroccan style.
What could be improved: Double room had 2 single beds pushed together which was not overly comfortable.
Continental breakfast was nice but a little more variety each day would have been nice.
