Riad Al Wifak Overview
You know what struck me first about Riad Al Wifak? The fact that I actually found it without getting completely lost in the medina maze – and trust me, that’s saying something. It’s tucked away on Derb Lalla Bent El Amri, which sounds intimidating but is actually one of those narrow alleys that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a secret. The entrance is pretty understated, honestly – just a traditional wooden door that you’d walk right past if you weren’t looking for it.
Once you’re inside though, it’s like stepping into someone’s beautifully restored family home, which I suppose is exactly what a riad should feel like. The courtyard has that perfect Moroccan geometry thing going on with the tilework, and there’s this lovely fountain in the center that’s actually soothing rather than annoyingly splashy (you’d be surprised how many riads get this wrong). The rooms are scattered around different levels – mine was up a narrow staircase that required some strategic suitcase maneuvering, but the payoff was worth it. Traditional carved ceilings, tadelakt walls that feel smooth as silk, and windows that frame little slices of medina life perfectly. I mean, where else can you sip your morning coffee while watching someone’s grandmother hang laundry on a neighboring rooftop?
What really sets this place apart is how it strikes that balance between authentic and comfortable – the staff actually knows the neighborhood inside and out, so when they give you directions to Jemaa el-Fna or recommend a spice shop, you’re not getting generic tourist advice. They’ll tell you which hammam is worth your time and which carpet seller won’t completely fleece you. The breakfast spread happens on the rooftop terrace, and honestly, starting your day with fresh msemen and mint tea while the Atlas Mountains peek over the medina walls… well, it beats a hotel buffet any day. The only minor thing I’d mention is that sound travels a bit in these old buildings, so if you’re a super light sleeper, pack earplugs – though the early morning call to prayer from the nearby mosque actually becomes quite beautiful once you adjust to it. With a 9.4 rating, this place clearly knows what it’s doing, and after staying here, I get why people keep coming back. It’s not trying to be a fancy international hotel – it’s just being a really, really good riad.

Reviews of Riad Al Wifak
Our stay at the Riad was warm, safe, and unforgettable – thanks to the incredibly kind hosts and the authentic Moroccan – Yasmin from Germany – 19 May 2025 (10/10)
Our stay at this Riad in Marrakech was simply wonderful! The owners were incredibly kind and attentive – we felt welcome and comfortable from the very beginning. Everything was very clean and well-maintained, which was a big plus for us.
Every morning we were served a delicious, traditional Moroccan breakfast, prepared with love. What we especially appreciated was how often they checked in on us to see how we were doing and how our day had gone.
We were two young women, both 20 years old, so feeling safe and comfortable was very important to us – and this Riad truly provided that.
Whenever we had questions about trips or things to do in Marrakech, we were immediately helped with detailed and helpful advice.
We can wholeheartedly recommend this Riad – it was a truly lovely experience!Exceptional – Kata from Hungary – 13 May 2025 (10/10)
The Riad is beautiful and has a very nice and calm atmosphere. Zakia and Ibrahim were kind and helpful as they helped us out whenever we had questions. The breakfast on the rooftop is amazing, and I would higly recommend having dinner at the riad as it was probably one of the best one we had in Marrakesh. 🙂

What could be improved: Nothing related to Riad, it was great,
But if I come back to Marrakesh I won’t stay in Medina, because the small streets make you feel unsafeGreat place to experience Marrakech and the Medina. – David from United Kingdom – 2 May 2025 (10/10)

What could be improved: in my opinion, the heating in the room was too high, and the shower was a bit too openStunningly decorated, warm hospitality, great breakfasts – Malika from United Kingdom – 25 April 2025 (10/10)
Beautifully decorated Riad – gorgeous courtyard in the middle where we could relax during the day, and very comfortable and aesthetically pleasing bedroom and bathroom.
We really enjoyed the breakfasts on the rooftop, and warm hospitality from Ibrahim. Thank you so much for a great stay.
The riad was surprisingly quiet – I have heard that some riads can be noisy but didn’t have such problems at Al Wifak.
What could be improved: No major problems, a very minor niggle was that the bathroom door was a bit creaky so we sometimes woke each other up at night but I can’t think of any other complaints!Beautiful Riad with charming staff and amazing food. – Louisa from United Kingdom – 16 April 2025 (10/10)
We had an amazing stay at Riad Wifak. It’s so quiet and calm and beautiful and the owner Zakia was so charming and helpful, making everything so perfect. The rooms were spacious and elegant whipped with tasteful Moroccan furnishings. Her cook is exceptional – we had a different breakfast every day and the most amazing lunch one day- delicious fresh food. I highly recommend this Riad.
