You know what hit me first about Riad Amaya? The silence. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the chaos of Jemaa el-Fnaa – honestly, maybe a three-minute walk through the medina’s twisting alleys – but once you duck through that heavy wooden door on Derb Ahlaka, it’s like someone just turned the volume way down. The courtyard opens up with this gorgeous fountain in the center, and I actually found myself just sitting there for way longer than I planned, listening to the water trickle while the city hummed somewhere beyond those thick walls.

The thing about staying in a traditional riad is that every corner tells a story, and Riad Amaya gets this balance just right – it feels authentically Moroccan without being stuffy or museum-like. The tadelakt walls have this smooth, almost soapy texture that’s cool to the touch (trust me, you’ll appreciate this when it’s 40 degrees outside), and the zellij tilework is the real deal, not some modern imitation. My room had this incredible carved cedar ceiling that I kept staring at instead of sleeping – in a good way. The beds are actually comfortable too, which honestly isn’t always a given in these historic places. What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to weave in modern touches without ruining the vibe. The WiFi works everywhere, the bathrooms have proper water pressure, and there’s air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a freight train.

The rooftop terrace is where you’ll probably spend your evenings – I mean, where else can you sip mint tea while watching the sun set over the Atlas Mountains? The staff here really know their stuff about the medina too. Instead of just pointing you toward the main tourist spots, they’ll tell you which hammam the locals actually use, or how to find that tiny spice shop tucked away near Bahia Palace where the saffron is half the price. Getting back to the riad can be tricky at first (the medina’s alleys all look identical when you’re jet-lagged), but it’s right near the Saadian Tombs, so that becomes your landmark. Fair warning though – the call to prayer echoes beautifully through the courtyard at dawn, which is either magical or unwelcome depending on your sleep schedule. Personally, I loved it, but light sleepers might want to pack earplugs. The whole experience feels like staying in someone’s elegant family home rather than a hotel, which I suppose is exactly what a riad should be.

  Ogni cosa è stata perfetta, Riad Amaya è una struttura fantastica, arredata con gusto raffinato, pulita, luminosa, camere spaziose ognuna con bagno e doccia, salottini e splendida terrazza dove poter fare colazione la mattina. A pochi minuti a piedi da tutte le principali attrazioni. La ragazza ogni mattina ci preparava una colazione diversa, abbondante e buonissima con prodotti freschissimi tutti preparati al momento, è stata davvero dolcissima con i bambini pronta a soddisfare ogni nostra esigenza. Ci siamo sentiti davvero come a casa, la migliore location del nostro viaggio in Marocco. La consiglio sia a famiglie che a gruppi di amici

  Riad konforlu ve temizdi. Riadda çalışan Saloua çok güler yüzlü ve çok yardımcıydı. Hazırladığı yöresel kahvaltılar çok lezzetliydi.

  Le riad est très propre et joliment décoré. C'est un plaisir de s'y réfugier après le chaos de la médina. La meilleure partie de l'expérience a été la personne chargée de nous préparer le petit-déjeuner chaque jour, Seloua, qui parle français et qui était toujours prête à nous aider et à répondre aux milliers de questions que nous lui posions. Une fille adorable. Le petit-déjeuner était exquis et servi dans de la vaisselle Tamegrout, typique du Maroc, ce qui rendait l'expérience encore plus authentique. Les lits étaient confortables et le linge propre, mais comme la cuisine est fermée toute la journée, il serait bon d'avoir un petit kit de cuisine avec un petit réfrigérateur, une cafetière et une bouilloire pour faire du café ou du thé et pour mettre les bouteilles d'eau à refroidir, ainsi que des verres et des cuillères. Comme dans les chambres d'hôtel. Nous aurions pu avoir deux jeux de clés, car il n'y en avait qu'un seul.

  Nuestra estancia en el riad fue simplemente increíble. Desde el primer momento, el trato fue excelente y nos sentimos muy bien acogidas. El lugar estaba impecablemente limpio y perfectamente decorado, exactamente como en las fotos. Cada rincón estaba cuidado al detalle, lo que hizo que nos sintiéramos muy cómodas y relajadas.
  
  Una mención especial para Salwa, quien hizo nuestra experiencia aún más especial. Su amabilidad y disposición para ayudarnos con todo lo que necesitábamos fueron un verdadero lujo. Siempre estuvo pendiente de que estuviéramos cómodas, lo que marcó una gran diferencia en nuestra estancia.
  
  Los desayunos fueron otro de los puntos destacados. Cada mañana, nos deleitaron con una variedad de opciones frescas y sabrosas, desde panes recién horneados hasta jugos naturales, todo preparado con mucho cariño. Fue la manera perfecta de comenzar el día.
  
  En resumen, el riad superó nuestras expectativas en todos los sentidos. La limpieza, el ambiente y el trato personalizado hicieron de este lugar un verdadero oasis en el que nos sentimos muy bien. Sin duda, es un sitio al que regresaríamos sin pensarlo. ¡Recomendadísimo!
