Riad Amina Overview

You know what? Riad Amina is one of those places that completely changes how you think about staying in Marrakech’s medina. I’ll be honest – when I first walked through those narrow alleys looking for Derb Si Mouh, I was second-guessing myself. The address sounds intimidating if you’re not familiar with how the old city works, but actually, it’s perfectly positioned in the Sidi Ben Sliman area, which locals will tell you is one of the quieter pockets of the medina. Once you find that unmarked wooden door (and trust me, your phone’s GPS will give up before you do), you step into this completely different world.

The thing about traditional riads is they’re either authentic to the point of being uncomfortable, or they’re so modernized they’ve lost their soul. Riad Amina hits that sweet spot – it’s got the gorgeous central courtyard with the fountain that actually works, intricate zellige tilework that looks like it took forever to complete, and those thick walls that keep the chaos of the medina at bay. But here’s what I really appreciated: the bathrooms have proper water pressure, the wifi reaches every corner (even up on the rooftop terrace), and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a freight train. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood too – they’ll give you shortcuts to Jemaa el-Fnaa that avoid the tourist traps, and they actually remember your name after day one.

I mean, it’s not perfect – the rooms vary quite a bit in size, and if you’re staying during peak season, the sound carries more in that central courtyard than you’d expect. But honestly? That 7.9 rating feels about right. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Marrakech, but it gets the important stuff right. The rooftop gives you those postcard views of the Atlas Mountains in the morning, breakfast includes actual good coffee (not just Nescafé), and you’re maybe a ten-minute walk from the souks without being right in the thick of the madness. The whole experience feels like staying with friends who happen to have incredible taste and a beautiful house – which, let’s face it, is exactly what you want when you’re trying to experience the real Marrakech instead of just passing through it.

Reviews of Riad Amina

  • Very good – Sara from Ireland – 12 June 2025 (8/10)

Brilliant and friendly Staff. Amazing location and beautiful room. Great welcoming, cozy swimming pool. We will definitely come back!

What could be improved: Sadly and frustrating, someone in the Riad didn't respect the night hours until 3 am, and the 2 nights we stayed there it was difficult to sleep as they were very loud and it seemed like they were in our room.

  • Exceptionally welcoming, relaxing and fun – Aisha from United Kingdom – 30 May 2025 (9/10)

Super accommodating and kind staff. The accommodation is beautifully presented in an authentic manner; while the facilities were superb too. Finally, it is in an excellent location for all you want to see and by whichever means you are arriving by.

  • Superb – Najma from United Kingdom – 18 May 2025 (9/10)

Its such a calm and quiet property with a very friendly and helpful staff. Staffs are very approachable for anything

  • A delightful traditional Riad and a serene oasis and delightful amongst an intriguing ancient Medina – Sherilyn from Australia – 18 May 2025 (9/10)

A beautiful Riad with detailed handcrafted features and wonderfully decorated with artistic touches .
Breakfast in the central courtyard is a real treat as is starlit evenings on the comfortable rooftop.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the location wonderful in an interesting area on the edge of the tourist hub.

  • Great value for money, perfect location – Abbie from United Kingdom – 25 March 2025 (7/10)

Great location, friendly staff value for money

    What could be improved: Noise

  • Superb – Anurag from Denmark – 26 December 2024 (9/10)

Cozy place , comfortable rooms, great staff.

What could be improved: Maybe brighter lights in the bathrooms.

  • We would book again – Paulina from United States – 25 November 2024 (9/10)

Everything was amazing. Friendly and attentive staff. Very clean. Cozy and comfortable. Location was cool because we were basically in the heart of Marrakech. Got the full Moroccan experience.

What could be improved: The pool wasn’t the best but that’s okay lol

  • Superb – Maaike from Netherlands – 16 August 2024 (9/10)

The welcome, hygiene, location, pool, rooftop

  • 100% recommend staying here! – Claudia from Spain – 22 July 2024 (9/10)

The staff is welcoming and helpful, they genuinely want to make your stay as comfortable and as good of an experience as possible.
The facilities are good and everything is clean.
The breakfast is delicious and they don't overcomplicate it.
If we are ever to come back to Marrakech I would choose this Riad again.

What could be improved: There was not one thing we didn't like but if I were to give one con is that our room did not have a full body mirror, which would have been useful

  • Lovely Riad, excellent staff, ruined by a poor breakfast. – Isobel from United Kingdom – 12 July 2024 (7/10)

Great Riad. Excellent staff. Lovely roof pool.

What could be improved: The breakfast was the worst we’ve had in Morocco. No fruit, no olives or local cheese, no msemen, extra charge for an omelette and most surprisingly, no fresh range juice in the land of oranges.
