Riad Amira Overview

Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of riads in Marrakech, and honestly, Riad Amira gets it right in ways that surprised me. It’s tucked away on Derb Ben Zina in the old Kasbah district – you know, that maze of narrow alleys where your taxi driver will definitely give up and make you walk the last bit. But here’s the thing: that’s actually perfect because it means you’re in the real heart of historic Marrakech, not some touristy bubble.

The first time I walked through those heavy wooden doors, I mean, wow – it’s like stepping into someone’s beautiful home rather than a hotel. The central courtyard has this gorgeous fountain that makes just enough noise to drown out the street sounds (trust me, you’ll appreciate this), and the traditional tilework is absolutely stunning without feeling like a museum. What really got me was how the staff – especially Hassan at the front desk – seemed to genuinely care about making sure you found your way around the medina. He drew me this little hand-sketched map to the spice markets that was way more helpful than anything on my phone.

The rooms are what you’d expect from a proper riad – lots of character, beautiful details, and thankfully good air conditioning because Marrakech in summer is no joke. I stayed in one of the upper-floor rooms and honestly, the view from the terrace at sunset over the Atlas Mountains… it’s one of those moments that makes you forget about everything else. The rooftop breakfast is pretty spectacular too, though I’d recommend going early before it gets too hot. One small heads up – like most riads, the rooms can be a bit dark during the day since they face inward to the courtyard, but that’s just part of the authentic experience. And honestly? After a day of wandering the souks and dodging motorbikes in the medina, that cool, quiet atmosphere feels like a sanctuary. The location puts you within walking distance of the Saadian Tombs and the Kasbah Mosque, plus you’re close enough to Jemaa el-Fnaa to catch the evening chaos but far enough away that you can actually sleep at night. That 9.1 rating makes total sense – it’s the kind of place that makes you want to extend your stay.

  • Perfect! – Azeb from Germany – 25 May 2025 (10/10)

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Riad Amira. The whole staff was welcoming, friendly and very helpful.
The breakfast was delicious, with fresh eggs and fruits every day, served on the beautiful terrace. The accommodation is absolutely superb, beautifully decorated, and clean with a fantastic courtyard. The Riad is located in a very quiet area of Kasbah and within walking distance to most attractions. We highly recommend Riad Amira.

  • This riad was perfect for our stay the location was ideal and everyone who worked there went out their way to make our s – Kirsty from United Kingdom – 6 May 2025 (10/10)

They were very friendly and kind! Felt safe and it was peaceful inside.

What could be improved: The shower and sink needs some work, the sink leaked and the shower got all over the place.

  • Lovely riad – Jocelyn from United Kingdom – 1 May 2025 (10/10)

Beautiful riad. The Kasbah is slightly calmer than Medina and still an easy walk. Lovely small refreshing dipping pool and great roof terrace with sunbeds and sofas. Very nice breakfast on roof. Staff very helpful.Great place to relax.

What could be improved: We had a room that was street facing rather than inner courtyard so got a bit of motorbike noise but not too much. Inner courtyard would be quieter.
    Would definitely recommend though.

  • Convenient location – Linda from United States – 20 April 2025 (8/10)

  • Lovely and well located Riad! – Lucia from United Kingdom – 2 April 2025 (8/10)

Nice and comfy Riad to visit Marrakesh as a family with a toddler! Well located without being in the middle of the chaos. So good to arrive to a calm place after a day of walking. They arranged us the taxis which was a bonus. Satisfying breakfast in the terrace 🙂

What could be improved: Would it be nice to have more pressure on the shower, but nothing that affected our stay. It was all v good!

  • Excellent – Nikolina from Croatia – 30 March 2025 (10/10)

We liked absolutely everything! It was excellent. The accommodation, location and especially the staff there! They were all really kind and helpful, and everything we asked for they provided. We were not really in our room during the day but when we would come back in the evening, our room was spotless, they changed bed linen and the towels every day although we never asked them to, and we had fresh toilet paper in the bathroom every day as well. A huge thank you to all the staff, especially to Saida, Souad, Miba and Hassan! ❤️
