Riad Antara Overview
I’ll be honest – I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked through the unassuming door on Rue Bouderda. The street itself is pretty typical for this part of Riad Zitoune Jdid, narrow and bustling with the usual medina chaos, but once you step inside Riad Antara, it’s like someone hit the pause button on Marrakech. The central courtyard actually made me stop mid-conversation – you know that moment when a place just clicks? The traditional zellige tilework isn’t just for show here; it’s the real deal, and you can tell because of how the light catches those tiny imperfections that machine-made stuff never has. The staff greeted us with mint tea (of course), but what struck me was how they remembered my name every single time after that, even when I’d just pop back for five minutes to grab something from the room.
What really sets this place apart – and I mean this – is how they’ve managed to keep the authentic riad feel without making you rough it. The rooms are proper Moroccan style with those gorgeous tadelakt walls, but honestly, the beds are some of the most comfortable I’ve slept in anywhere. The bathrooms are spacious too, which anyone who’s stayed in medina riads knows isn’t a given. You’re about a ten-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa (though I’d recommend the route through Rue Riad Zitoun el Kedim – it’s more interesting and less touristy), but far enough away that you won’t hear the evening drumming unless you actually want to. The rooftop terrace becomes this perfect little sanctuary around sunset, and you can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days. I spent way too many mornings up there with coffee, watching the city wake up.
The thing is, riads can feel a bit museum-like sometimes – beautiful but cold, you know? Riad Antara doesn’t have that problem. Maybe it’s because the owner clearly lives and breathes this stuff, or maybe it’s just that they’ve got the balance right between preserving the architecture and making it livable. The location is actually ideal if you want to explore the medina properly – you’re in the heart of things but on a quieter street, so you can escape when the souks get overwhelming (and they will). I’d definitely stay here again, and I’ve already recommended it to three friends. Just don’t expect to find it easily on your first try – GPS gets confused in the medina, so screenshot their directions or ask someone local for “Riad Antara near Saadian Tombs.” Trust me on that one.

What could be improved: There isn't anything I didn't like.Fantastic! – Ott from United States – 18 April 2025 (10/10)
The owners, Laurent and his wife are wonderful. They are on site and will greet you at the taxi drop. Their passion in the Riad is clear and their love of Marrakech immediately evident. The detail in the rooms is exquisite. The staff are extraordinarily accommodating. The Riad is ideally located in the old Medina just steps from the chaos of the medina commerce, but behind the riad doors feels completely isolated from the rest of the world. I don't typically do reviews, but Riad Antara deserves the recognition.
What could be improved: nothingBeyond Expectations – Al from Saudi Arabia – 12 April 2025 (10/10)
This is my second stay in the same property , and it gets better everytime you go there
What could be improved: I have noticed huge GCC and specially saudi tourist visiting morroco , and it was anounced that morroco was the largest city to visit in africa by saudi in 2024.
I would recomend adding a toilet Shattaf / Toilet Sprayer. I had the same omment from multiaple people who visited the place and also arab people who i met in the same place as well.Exceptional – Nick from United Kingdom – 12 April 2025 (10/10)
Relaxing, perfect location, amazing staff. Anne and Laurent could not have been more helpful. The atmosphere was calm and contrasted perfectly with the craziness that is Marrakesh.

Laurent and Anne are wonderful hosts in this impeccable and beautiful riad. The design is stylish and sympathetic to the Morroccan tradition with Gallic flair. The staff reflect the owners and are just as warm, friendly and professional. This is a special place.
