Riad Anyssates Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of riads in Marrakech, and honestly? Most of them blur together after a while. But Riad Anyssates on Derb El Bomba – that’s one I actually remember, and not just because finding it the first time was like solving a puzzle through the medina’s narrow alleys.
The thing about this place is that it feels authentic without trying too hard, you know? The owners clearly put thought into the details – I’m talking about the way the light hits the central courtyard in the late afternoon, or how they’ve managed to soundproof the rooms enough that you’re not hearing every conversation from the neighboring terraces (trust me, that’s rarer than you’d think in the medina). The location on Derb El Bomba is actually perfect if you want to feel like you’re really in the heart of old Marrakech without being right on top of the tourist chaos. You’re maybe a seven-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa, but tucked away enough that you can actually sleep at night. I mean, the call to prayer will still wake you up at dawn – that’s just Marrakech – but you won’t have street vendors shouting under your window at midnight.
What really got me was the breakfast situation. They serve it on the rooftop terrace, and honestly, the view of the Atlas Mountains on a clear morning is worth the price of admission alone. The staff – particularly this guy Hassan who seems to know everyone in the neighborhood – will point out different peaks and tell you which days are best for day trips. He actually steered me away from an overpriced tour operator and recommended a local driver who charged half the price. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t fake. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a well-run riad – traditional tiles, carved wood, that whole Moroccan aesthetic – but they’ve got modern bathrooms and decent WiFi, which, let’s be real, matters when you’re trying to navigate the medina with Google Maps. The pool area is small but perfect for cooling off after a day of haggling in the souks, and there’s usually a nice breeze in the evenings. I stayed there during Ramadan actually, and they were incredibly thoughtful about meal timing and cultural sensitivity – small touches that show they really care about the experience. The 9.1 rating makes total sense when you add it all up, though I will say the rooms facing the courtyard can get a bit echo-y when other guests are chatting late into the night. But honestly? That’s part of the riad experience, and if you want complete silence, you should probably book a chain hotel in Gueliz instead.

*The hotel is great and beautiful.
*Very suitable for peace and relaxation.
* The staff are friendly and helpful and their service is great.
* The location of Riyadh is very close to the main street, so there is no problem returning late at night.
What could be improved: * There is no TV, refrigerator in the room, or phone to contact the reception.
* No bidet in the bathroom.
* I hope to add it to breakfast because it is limited and repeated daily.A fantastic Riad with just 9 rooms in a great location – a very attentive team of staff made our stay unforgettable. – Benjamin from United Kingdom – 30 April 2025 (9/10)
We had the “best” room in the Riad, on the roof terrace level, which meant that we were in a very private location and felt connected to the outside – almost like we had our own private terrace, because >90% of the time we saw nobody else up there. The room was nice and had good air conditioning. We ate several times at the Riad for evening dinner as well as lunch and the food was very good. Breakfast was consistently good (continental) with choice of eggs. The location of the Riad was great – not to far into the Medina that it was difficult to get to and it wasn’t noisy at all, but close enough that most things were in walking distance.
The best thing about the Riad were the staff – Nicholas and his small team were exceptional hosts and they were all so friendly, right from the start: on arrival Nicholas spent a good hour or more chatting with us and helping us to plan our stay and activities in Marrakech at a very personal level and we felt valued – this really got our stay off on the right foot and we had such a relaxing holiday. They had access to some really good drivers and tour guides for private / bespoke excursions.
What could be improved: There really wasn’t much not to like. The bed was a bit hard, but we got used to it. There was limited lighting up on the terrace by the room, but that could easily be fixed.Exceptional – Aswini from Germany – 19 April 2025 (10/10)

The riad is gorgeous. A little out of the way but still within walking distance of the centre. Absolutely lovely interiors. Lovely staff too!
What could be improved: Breakfast was quite light – the omlet for example has nothing in it…just egg!
