Riad Arrahma Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – finding Riad Arrahma was like solving a puzzle, but that’s exactly what makes it special. You know how most places in the Medina have you wandering through those narrow derbs with your luggage, feeling completely lost? Well, this one’s tucked away on Derb Sabaatou Rijal, and while the name literally means “street of seven men” (which always makes me chuckle), what you really need to know is that it’s actually pretty accessible by Medina standards. The owners will meet you at a nearby landmark if you’re struggling – they get it.

The moment you step through that heavy wooden door, everything changes. I mean, the contrast is almost jarring in the best way possible. Outside, you’ve got the usual Marrakech chaos – donkeys, motorbikes somehow squeezing through spaces that seem impossible, vendors calling out – and then suddenly you’re in this serene courtyard with that classic riad architecture that never gets old. The tilework is gorgeous (and I’m usually not one to go on about décor), but what really struck me was how quiet it gets, especially in the evenings. You can actually hear the call to prayer echoing from different mosques around the area, which sounds touristy to mention but honestly becomes this beautiful part of the rhythm of staying there.

The staff here actually know the neighborhood inside and out, which makes a huge difference. They’ll tell you about the little bakery two streets over where locals get their bread in the morning, or how to cut through to Jemaa el-Fnaa without getting caught in the main tourist bottleneck. The 9.1 rating isn’t just about the pretty rooms – though they are lovely, with those thick walls that keep things cool even when it’s blazing outside. It’s more about those small touches that show someone cares. Like, they remember you take your mint tea without sugar, or they’ll warn you that Thursday evenings can get a bit louder because of the nearby hammam’s busy night. The rooftop terrace is where you’ll probably end up spending way more time than planned, especially around sunset when you can see the Atlas Mountains in the distance and the whole Medina spread out below. Just don’t expect to have it to yourself – it’s one of those spots that’s too good not to share, but somehow that makes it better, not worse.

  • My stay at Riad Arrahma was truly enjoyable, thanks to the beautiful atmosphere and the exceptional – Dominik from Poland – 8 July 2025 (10/10)

I had a fantastic stay at Riad Arrahma! The riad itself is beautiful, peaceful, and full of authentic Moroccan charm. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated, making it the perfect place to relax after exploring the city.

A special thank you to Oussama, who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. He was incredibly helpful, always available, and provided us with excellent recommendations and assistance throughout our trip. His warm and friendly attitude truly made us feel welcome and well taken care of.

I highly recommend Riad Arrahma to anyone visiting the area – and if you're lucky, you'll have Oussama there to help make your experience even better!

  • Loved it, the place and especially the people who looks after it – Oussama, Soukaina and Houda ❤️❤️❤️ – Kar from Malaysia – 7 July 2025 (9/10)

The people looking after it were wonderful and kind. Soukaina and Houda kept the place and rooms clean, they were kind, helpful, friendly and they made me coffee and breakfast! Even though they didn’t speak much English, I felt at home and cared for.

The night manager Oussama is an awesome guy – he speaks good English and kept the door open all through the night for guest who came back or checked-in late. He was friendly, helpful and gave good advice on the attractions and places to visit outside of Marrakech.

The property was clean, homely, had a beautiful wall of lanterns, the air-conditioning cold and the bed was comfortable too.

What could be improved: I wish it had a better roof top terrace but then again for the price, it’s already more than enough for me.

  • A nice riad with friendly and helpful hosts in the middle of the bustling markets – Shelwin from United Kingdom – 24 June 2025 (8/10)

Riad Arrahma was a nice little accommodation. Ahmed and Ossauma were brilliant throughout our stay and were very helpful in giving us top tips around Marrakech. The breakfast provided everyday was nice and the room was spacious with air conditioning, comfy beds and pillows. There is also a terrace if you want to sunbathe.

The location was a hit for me as it was very central and was always 15/20 min walk to the top attractions like Ben Youssef Medarasa, Bahia palace and maybe slightly more to Jardin Majorelle and YSL museum.

The riad also helped us to get a taxi to our next location.

What could be improved: The toilet facilities were not as we expected, maybe we didn't read the description. It is slightly small for someone maybe over 6 foot and there are no doors. A curtain separates the toilet and bedroom. There were also no toiletries other than hand-wash. But this wasn't an issue as we got them from the shop nearby

This is nothing the Riad could do but the roads leading to the riad is very narrow so cars won't reach there. You will need to walk (roughly 5 minutes) and carry your luggage to the riad depending on where you are dropped off. (Parking Naji Palce Moukef is the closest we got to).

My wife didn't like the location at the beginning as the route to the riad was very crammed with lots of speedy bikes, donkey carriages and some corners with garbage and the stench with it. But as we found better ways out of the market and getting used to the busy markets, this wasnt really a problem.

Beware of "friendly" people who will take you to the riad some different route and ask for money as it happened to us. In hindsight we should have contacted the Riad as we got off the taxi.

Overall these things could have been managed better ourselves and nothing really to blame on the Riad. But just wanted to add if it helps others

  • Lovely stay – Faik from France – 22 June 2025 (10/10)

Had a lovely stay! The staff were very nice and incredibly helpful—made the experience even better. Thank you!

  • Personal siempre disponible – Marcelo from Spain – 19 June 2025 (9/10)

This Riad is a true oasis in a buzzing messy city like Marrakesh. Is a peaceful place in wich free little birds welcome you with their chirps and also are a lovely company during the breakfast. Our Host Oussama a very charming guy was super welcoming and always ready to help along with the rest of the staff. I can't reccomend enough this place and I wish they can grow fast just make the fountain working and put a milk frother for milk foam for the Cappuccino in the morning and this will be the Best of the Historical Medina of Marrakesh ❤️ نحن الفريق ☆

What could be improved: El Riad está entre medio de los pequeños callejones de Marrakech, alli no pueden acceder los coches pero los taxis te dejan como a 3 min a pie de este encantador Riad

  • We were a group of five girls staying here for 3 nights and 4 days, and we had a wonderful experience! The hospitality w – Rose from United Kingdom – 14 June 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: Toilet doesn’t have a door

  • Exceptional – Abiodun from United Kingdom – 29 May 2025 (10/10)

We enjoyed our stay in Riad Arrahma, the staff was so welcoming and nice, when we had a little issue with the light in our bathroom, it was promptly fixed, and staying in this riad made us experience the souks properly as we always pass through there when going to the city center which is about 15mins walk away. I also really enjoyed the breakfast every morning, and they have a cute pool (although I didn't get to take a swim in it) it's very quiet and peaceful too. Highly recommend Riad Arrahma for your trip to Marrakesh.
