riad asmaa Overview
You know what? I’ve stayed in plenty of riads in Marrakech, and Riad Asmaa honestly caught me off guard – in the best way possible. When you’re navigating the narrow streets of the Medina (and trust me, you’ll get a little lost finding rue Laarsa the first time), you might walk right past number 34 without realizing there’s this gorgeous traditional riad hiding behind that unassuming wooden door. That’s actually part of the charm – the whole quartier Kanaria area feels authentically local, not touristy at all.
The moment you step inside, it’s like someone hit the pause button on all that Medina chaos. The central courtyard has this beautiful traditional fountain that creates the perfect white noise – you can actually hear yourself think, which is saying something in Marrakech. The architecture is what you’d hope for in a four-star riad: gorgeous zellige tilework, carved stucco that looks like it took months to complete, and those classic horseshoe arches that frame everything perfectly. What I really appreciated was how they’ve kept the authentic feel while making sure everything actually works (you’d be surprised how many riads nail the aesthetics but forget about water pressure). The rooms have that perfect balance of traditional Moroccan style and modern comfort – thick walls that keep things cool during the day, beautiful textiles that don’t feel like museum pieces, and honestly, some of the most comfortable beds I’ve found in the Medina.
The location is actually ideal if you want to experience real Marrakech life. You’re close enough to Jemaa el-Fnaa that you can easily walk there for dinner or to catch the evening show, but far enough away that you won’t hear the drummers at 2 AM. The neighborhood has this lovely residential feel – you’ll see kids playing in the alleyways and women heading to the local hammam in the evenings. There’s a great little bakery about two minutes away where locals grab their morning bread, and the spice souk is close enough that you’ll catch those amazing aromas drifting through the streets. What really sold me on this place was the staff – they have that rare combination of being incredibly helpful without being pushy, and they seem to genuinely know the city inside and out. When they recommend a restaurant or suggest a route through the souk, you can tell they’re not just reciting from a script.
I mean, with a 9.5 rating, you’d expect it to be good, but Riad Asmaa actually lives up to the hype. It’s the kind of place where you end up spending more time just relaxing in the courtyard than you planned because it feels like such a perfect escape from the beautiful madness of Marrakech. If you’re looking for that authentic riad experience without sacrificing comfort – and you don’t need to be right in the thick of the tourist action – this place really delivers.

Reviews of riad asmaa
Bonito, cómodo y muy céntrico. Excelente atención – Mila from Spain – 3 June 2025 (9/10)
Precioso.
Exceptional – Sara from Ireland – 26 March 2025 (10/10)
Quiet location but so close to the bustle of the Medina. Nicely decorated home, super roof top terrace, very comfortable overall. Our hostess was very communicative and helpful

This place was beautiful and so fun! The location was perfect for seeing Marrakesh. Our host met us at a restaurant and walked us to the riad. We had a delicious breakfast each day. It was just lovely.
What could be improved: My bed was not as comfortable, but my son said his bed was super comfy. So it may just depend on the room or your preferences.Beautiful Riad with a wonderful host! – Sonjia from United States – 24 December 2024 (10/10)
The host was very nice and accommodating. The Riad was beautiful and comfortable. We loved that it was right in the Medina and in walking distance to the souks and the square!
Perfect stay – Saliha from United Kingdom – 16 December 2024 (10/10)
This was a beautiful riad tucked away in a quiet part of the medina. 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms it was amazing we didn’t need to share bathrooms we made a booking for 6 ppl plus there was an extra bathroom downstairs. A small kitchen with appliances. Amazing views from the terrace and loungers to rest on. The riad was beautifully decorated with nice details. Easy to find and quick walk to the main square. Lots of food and drink places around.
We booked last minute as the previous accommodation cancelled us and to our surprise this was actually the better riad. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Fresh bread, pancakes, eggs orange juice tea and coffee etc. lovely Khadija would arrive in the morning at the agreed time to cook the breakfast. Carole was available for any questions and recommendations and was very helpful. We requested a late check out and it was granted. Overall they exceeded my expectations and I would definitely book the same place when I visit next.

What an amazing terrace with incredible views! Everything was perfect—the place is clean and beautifully decorated to complement the setting. The host was extremely nice and helpful. If I stay in Marrakesh again, I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

Location was amazing. It was so fun to explore the area and we didn't have to walk very far for shopping and good food. We loved staying here because of the centralized location!

We stayed for 4 nights with our family of 6 people and had a good time in Riad Asmaa. – Joop from Netherlands – 20 February 2024 (9/10)
Location was perfect, in the middle of the Medina, yet very quiet. Beautiful rooftop terrace with a view.
We arrived, with our family of 6 in the evening and you need a navigation to find the location, the Medina is a big maze, but once you arrive the place is perfect.
Asmaa and her husband are good hosts.
