Riad Assouel et Spa By La Siredrah Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Riad Assouel et Spa? The location is absolutely perfect, but in a way that only makes sense once you’re actually wandering around the medina. It’s tucked away on Derb Lalla Ben Lamri – and I mean really tucked away, like you’ll walk past the entrance twice before spotting it. But here’s the thing: you’re literally a three-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa without any of the chaos bleeding into your space. I’ve stayed at places closer to the main square where you can hear the drum circles until 2 AM, but this little corner of the medina goes quiet once the sun sets.
The riad itself feels like someone’s wealthy aunt decided to open her family home to travelers – in the best possible way. The courtyard has this gorgeous fountain that actually works (not always a given in Morocco, honestly), and the rooms are spread around it in that classic riad style. What I really appreciated was the attention to detail in the restoration work. The zellij tilework looks fresh but not fake, and the carved cedar ceilings still smell faintly of wood polish. The spa is small but well-appointed – I mean, you’re not getting a massive hammam facility, but the treatments are solid and the therapists know what they’re doing. Perfect after a day of getting gloriously lost in the souks.
Here’s what sealed the deal for me: the staff actually lives in the neighborhood. When I asked about finding a good place for pastilla that wasn’t touristy, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward some generic restaurant – he drew me a little map to his cousin’s place three streets over. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t Google. The breakfast situation is lovely too, served in the courtyard with proper Moroccan bread and fresh orange juice. Check-in was smooth, though if you’re arriving by taxi, just know that you’ll need to walk the last bit since cars can’t reach the door. The 8.8 rating makes total sense – it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but it nails what a medina riad should be. Four stars feels right, maybe even generous depending on your expectations, but honestly? If you want to feel like you’re staying somewhere authentically Marrakech without roughing it, this place gets it right.

Staff were all lovely! The facilities are well maintained. we especially enjoyed the jacuzzi on the top floor. The location is also very good!
What could be improved: The AC was not strong enough to combat the heat.An oasis in the centre of Marrakesh – Chris from Spain – 23 June 2025 (9/10)
Breakfast was lovely on the rooftop

The Riad was absolutely beautiful and ticked all the boxes in terms of location, cleanliness and facilities we wanted. A short stroll to the shops and main locations we had planned to visit. The staff were amazing and made us feel at home. Younes, Mohammed and the girls worked tirelessly to make sure our stay was perfect. We will be returning in the future.
Exceptional – Luca from Hungary – 11 June 2025 (10/10)

What could be improved: Nothing. Everything was so good and perfect. Service was amazing, the place everything. Only demerit is that there is no parking anywhere near the property.Exceptional – Luca from United Kingdom – 26 April 2025 (10/10)
We can’t recommend enough this beautiful Riad. It’s a hidden gem in the middle of the hustle.
The staff is so welcoming, helpful and kind. The fact that it has a pool and also a rooftop with another small jacuzzi it is a must. It makes perfect the stay in a busy city.
We loved having a cosy dinner at the Riad everyday, we have a child and it was so comforting to see him so well looked after. The food is amazing….Breakfast are supreme! We can’t wait to come back 🙂A brilliant stay in a perfectly located Riad. The staff is caring and loving making us feel at home – Oriane from United Kingdom – 20 April 2025 (9/10)
Mohammed and Younis were simply brilliant. They made our stay truly memorable. The location is perfect to explore, the breakfast were great to discover new produce, it was comfortable and stunningly decorated!
What could be improved: The terrace wasn’t ready for use for few days, the shower space in the regular room was too small not to wet the whole bathroom floor when showering and the windows aren’t soundproofed, so we hear a lot of the chats and preps and everything really going on the riad, earplugs are a must for a good night sleep. We had a Great time! – Lisa from Germany – 11 April 2025 (9/10)
We had a wonderful stay at this charming Riad in Marrakech. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming – truly like being part of a family. Youness and Mohammed were especially kind and helpful throughout our stay; their hospitality made all the difference.
We had the chance to enjoy dinner at the Riad one evening, and it was absolutely fantastic – a real highlight and highly recommended for anyone staying here. Breakfast was delicious and varied every day, with fresh ingredients and local flavors.
The Riad itself was very clean, well-maintained, and ideally located to explore the city. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you again to the whole team – we’ll definitely be back!
What could be improved: The only negative aspect is the thinness of the walls, which is due to the traditional construction.Lovely stay in picturesque Riad on a quiet street, but close to must see spots! – Alyssa from United Kingdom – 30 March 2025 (10/10)
Really lovely stay at Riad Assouel. The central courtyard was amazing with stunning views of the pool. The room was comfortable and nicely decorated. Breakfast in the morning was simple but tasty. Situated on a nice quiet street but was very close to lots of the must see spots and good restaurants. Staff were really friendly!
What could be improved: Nothing, the stay was great!
