Riad azra Marrakech Overview
You know what struck me first about Riad Azra? The silence. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the chaos of Jemaa el-Fnaa, but once you duck into derb Ben Aissa and wind through those narrow alleys in the medina, it’s like someone turned down the volume on Marrakech. The taxi will drop you at the edge of the medina (they can’t drive into the old quarter), but honestly, the ten-minute walk through the derbs is half the charm – just follow the signs or ask any local for “derb Dabachi.”
The riad itself is one of those places that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto a movie set. Traditional Moroccan architecture done right, with that gorgeous central courtyard where you’ll probably end up spending most of your time. The rooms are what you’d expect from a proper 4-star riad – tadelakt walls, intricate tilework, and thankfully, air conditioning that actually works (trust me on this one, especially if you’re visiting between June and September). What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night. These old medina walls are thick, and the staff clearly knows how to manage noise levels. I slept better here than at some of the fancier hotels in Gueliz.
The location is actually genius if you know the medina at all. You’re tucked away enough to feel authentic and peaceful, but derb Dabachi connects you to the main souks in about five minutes of walking. The Bahia Palace is practically around the corner, and you can reach the Saadian Tombs without breaking a sweat. Plus – and this is something most hotel descriptions won’t tell you – you’re close enough to the Ben Youssef Mosque area that you’ll hear the call to prayer, which honestly adds to the whole experience rather than disrupting it. The staff here gets it too; they’ll draw you little maps showing the shortcuts through the medina that even some locals don’t know. During Ramadan, the atmosphere becomes even more special, though things obviously run on different schedules. That 9.3 rating isn’t just numbers – it reflects the kind of place where small details matter, from the mint tea that appears without asking to the way they handle your luggage through those narrow passages. If you’re looking for a pool scene or a lobby bar, this isn’t your spot, but if you want to actually experience Marrakech rather than just visit it, Riad Azra gets the balance right.

Reviews of Riad azra Marrakech
Beautiful stay with friendly staff very close to the main square – Julio from Portugal – 18 June 2025 (10/10)
The staff was extremely friendly! They made sure we had everything we needed. Khalid was really helpful giving us tips of what to do in the city and taking good care of us.
The breakfast and pool were a really nice plus as well! The double room with private bathroom was very spacious and the AC worked nicely, giving us a nice scape from the extreme heat in Marrakesh. The location is perfect, a 3 min walk to the main square.
Really recommend this riad! One of the best Booking experiences we've had so far. A perfect goodbye to our amazing trip to Morocco 🙂A warm stay that made us feel at home in Marrakech. – Lilia from Portugal – 7 June 2025 (10/10)
We loved everything! The house was beautiful and breakfast was delicious, and the team was amazing — Layla was so kind and welcoming, and Khalid had such a charismatic energy. We truly felt at home.
What could be improved: There was nothing we didn’t like. Everything exceeded our expectations.A warm, welcoming stay in a beautifully kept Riyadh with exceptional comfort and hospitality. – Kevin from United Kingdom – 29 May 2025 (10/10)
I recently stayed at Riyadh Azra in Marrakech and had a truly wonderful experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly kind, thoughtful, and accommodating—nothing ever felt like too much trouble. Their warmth and hospitality really made the stay special.
The bedroom was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and beautifully kept, offering a peaceful retreat from the bustle of the medina. One particular highlight was the mattress—firm, supportive, and exceptionally comfortable, making for a fantastic night’s sleep every night.
The location is also ideal, tucked away just enough to feel serene, yet close to everything you’d want to see and explore in Marrakech.
All in all, I’d find it very hard to fault Riyadh Azra. It’s a place I’d highly recommend and would gladly return to on a future visit.
What could be improved: It’s not that I didn’t like the location—on the contrary, it’s actually a great spot once you find it. But I would definitely recommend planning your route in advance before arriving, especially if it’s your first time in the Medina. To reach Riyadh Azra, you go down a narrow street and then deeper into another small lane, which can be a little tricky to navigate at first. The Medina itself is a very busy, stimulating, and sometimes overwhelming place, especially on arrival. That said, this isn’t a fault of the Riyadh at all—just a tip for future guests to help make arrival smoother.Marrakech is a must see city – Avidtraveller from United States – 25 May 2025 (8/10)
The location of the Riad is perfect if you like to have all must see locations nearby including the Jamma El Fna, which is within a couple of minutes. This made it super convenient to see everything and be a couple of minutes away (on foot) from major pick-up points for the daily tours.
What could be improved: Breakfast was average at best. This was our first time ever staying in a Riad style accommodation. So we were really not sure what to expect. After this Riad, we stayed in multiple other Riads in Morocco and found the quality of breakfast the lowest of all. If you leave early for an excursion, then you would get a fraction of that as well.Exceptional – Sandie from Canada – 24 April 2025 (10/10)
Khalid was a wonderful host and really made sure everything about our stay was a success. The breakfasts, room and location were perfect, it was a quiet sanctuary to return to after being out all day in Marrakech.
I would definitely recommend the riad and come back. Thanks – Mattia from Italy – 15 April 2025 (9/10)
Great location, perfectly clean and with very friendly staff. Halid (not sure the name is correct) was super helpful, kind and very patient with our kids.
One thing I would suggest to improve is adding more variety at breakfast (fruit, eggs, maybe something salty). The price is in my opinion a bit too high but I guess Marrakech is becoming a more popular destinations and prices increased.
Overall a beautiful riad, a great experience and absolutely suggested. If you want a friendly, peaceful, perfect road in the heart of the Mefina this is it! – Beeck from United Kingdom – 30 March 2025 (10/10)
It was spotlessly clean. The location couldn’t have been better. Breakfast was delicious. The decor was perfect (exactly what you’d dream of for a riad in Marrakesh). Most importantly though Layla and Khalid (along with the other staff) could not have been friendlier and more helpful.
What could be improved: Pretty much nothing other than the WiFi could have been better. We felt at home! – Aline from Brazil – 13 March 2025 (10/10)
My sister and I stayed at the Riad Azra and we only have good things to say. First of all, a huge thank you to Khalid and Layla and the rest of the family. We arrived on the 5th of March and stayed until the 10th. We had booked the transfer to the hotel, everything went smoothly. We were welcomed by Khalid that explained everything perfectly and of course we had their amazing tea (by the way the BEST I tried in the whole trip). Everyday they would ask if we needed anything and they helped us with restaurant recommendations, booked massages and truely anything you would need!! The Riad is near almost everything, a very centric location. Every morning we would have breakfast outside at the rooftop, that was really yummy! You can really tell that they LOVE what they do and it's so homey. In the end the worst thing was having to leave, they made us feel at home! We wish them all the BEST, we recommend staying there 100% We will definately be back in the future!
What could be improved: Nothing, there are very tiny things but if there was a problem they quickly would fix it.Exceptional – Venessa from Germany – 13 March 2025 (10/10)
It was a very convenient location with the most amazing staff. My stomach hurt and they immediately made some calming tea.
Excellent – Aleksandras from United Kingdom – 13 March 2025 (10/10)
It was clean, located right in centre of old city next to most must see places in the city. Breakfast was nice.
Hosts were really friendly and helpful especially Khalid.
