Riad Azrak Overview
You know what really struck me about Riad Azrak? The moment you step through that heavy wooden door on Derb Snane, you’re suddenly in this completely different world – and I mean that in the best possible way. The contrast is actually kind of shocking. Outside, you’ve got the usual medina chaos with motorbikes zipping past and vendors calling out, but inside it’s this gorgeous traditional riad with a peaceful courtyard that just… works. The tilework is incredible, honestly – intricate blue and white patterns that look like they were done yesterday, even though you can tell this place has serious history.
The thing about staying in the medina is that location really is everything, and these guys nailed it. You’re close enough to Jemaa el-Fnaa that you can easily walk over for the evening food stalls and snake charmers (though trust me, the novelty wears off after a few nights), but far enough down these narrow derbs that you’re not hearing the drums until 2 AM. I actually loved getting a little lost in the maze of alleys on the way back – it’s part of the experience, you know? The staff here are brilliant at giving directions too, none of that vague “just follow the main path” nonsense. They’ll tell you to look for the blue door with the iron knocker, then turn left at the spice seller.
What really sets this place apart though is how they’ve managed to keep the authentic riad feel without sacrificing comfort. The rooms are spacious by medina standards – I mean, we’re not talking about some cramped riad conversion where you’re bumping into furniture. The beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in Morocco), and the bathrooms are modern enough that you’re not dealing with dodgy plumbing. The rooftop terrace is where I spent most of my mornings with mint tea, watching the Atlas Mountains emerge from the morning haze. You can see the Koutoubia minaret from up there, which never gets old. The staff brings up breakfast if you want – simple but fresh, with those amazing Moroccan oranges and proper coffee, not just instant. Evenings up there are magical too, especially when the call to prayer echoes across the medina just as the sun’s setting. I know that sounds touristy, but it really is something special. The 9.4 rating makes complete sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s that combination of authentic atmosphere and genuine hospitality that’s hard to find. Plus, they actually know how to help with practical stuff like arranging airport transfers and recommending hammams that aren’t total tourist traps.

The interior design is beautiful, and the riad is kept very clean. Maids were very good.
The bedrooms all had en-suites, which were beautifully appointed.
The location is very central.
What could be improved: We would have liked access to the kitchen, to make our own tea/coffees/cold drinks.Wonderful stay, thank you – Grace from United Kingdom – 19 May 2025 (10/10)

Belle destination dans un merveilleux Riad ! – Isabelle from France – 23 April 2025 (10/10)
What could be improved: Rien , tout était très bien !Riad Azrak is incredible. Located in the best spot, spacious, well-designed, clean and beautiful. – Daniel from United Kingdom – 4 April 2025 (10/10)
The Riad was incredible, right in the middle of the main markets or Marrakech and even better than it looks on the photos (which were more than enough to sell it to me).
On the top floor is a rooftop dining/breakfast space, lounges for sunbathing or to sit in the shade and an outdoor pool which was nice and cool and a refreshing break from the heat.
3 of the bedroom are on the first floor, all are well-sized and all are en-suite (shower and toilets). We were really impressed by how clean and well furnished they were. The design and tiling of each of the rooms were beautiful.
The ground floor has another bedroom with another en-suite shower and toilet. A separate toilet by the entrance, a living room with TV, sofas and a large dining table (we comfortably had space for 8 at dinner). Then in the middle is an open roof foyer space with sofas and a nice place to hang out.
The Riad is fairly new (we were told approximately 9 years) and felt very fresh, clean and comfortable.
It really is right in the market space, about a 30-60 second walk from most of the lanes and stalls and another few minutes from the main place where you can get taxis elsewhere or where a lot of the pickups are for excursions.
Our party was my wife & I, 3 children and a friend of our son (17-years old). For comparison, we had friends staying in another Riad a few minutes away, also in the middle of the market and for a similar cost but this one was by FAR a better place and had more rooms.
The breakfast was very good and we had dinner there on the first night which was good. There are staff available and other services upon request, though were were out and about most of the time so did not use them for much else. However, they cleaned the Riad each day while we were out which was nice.
Also were set up with someone who took care of transport to and from the airport and helped arrange all excursions for us which were incredible.
What could be improved: We didn't have access to the kitchen at night. Not sure what I would have needed it for. Don't think there was anything else, overall the place was incredible.Nice property and staff, good location. Should notncharge for things like water, tea bags (2.5 euro each?). This spoils – Gosia from Poland – 4 March 2025 (8/10)
Nicely decorated, newly refurbished, good location.
What could be improved: Charging extra for absolutely everything, including water. Not interesting breakfasts.when we asked for some fruit, we were charged extra.Beautiful home, great location – Bianca from United Kingdom – 19 January 2025 (8/10)
Lovely house, very spacious. Decor is lush and looks better than the pics
What could be improved: The riad experienced power cuts for 2 of the 4 days were there. The host was responsive to fixing it however it did impact our stay. Host offered a free meal but I'd have expected more than that.Great stay – Mariam from Kuwait – 15 November 2024 (10/10)
The place was great, beautiful, clean, the staff are friendly ( Laura, Mariam and Fateha) and helpful, the location is great and safe, highly recommended
