Riad Bamileke Overview
You know, I’ve stayed at my fair share of riads in Marrakech, and honestly, Riad Bamileke caught me completely off guard. It’s tucked away on Derb Dabachi in the medina – and I mean really tucked away. You’ll walk past it twice before you spot the modest entrance, which is actually perfect because it means you’re getting the real deal, not some tourist trap plastered with signs.
The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that washes over you. The courtyard is absolutely stunning – traditional Moroccan tilework that’s clearly been lovingly maintained, with a small fountain that provides just enough ambient sound to drown out the occasional motorbike puttering through the narrow streets outside. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to preserve the authentic architecture while sneaking in modern comforts. The rooms are spacious (well, spacious for medina standards), and the beds are actually comfortable – something you can’t take for granted in these historic buildings. The air conditioning works properly too, which honestly saved my life during those sweltering July afternoons when the medina turns into an oven.
The staff here really knows their stuff. They’re not just going through the motions – they’ll give you proper directions to places like the Saadian Tombs (about a 10-minute walk through the souks) and actually explain which routes to take to avoid the more aggressive vendors. The breakfast spread is generous without being overwhelming, and they serve it in the courtyard when the weather’s nice. I mean, there’s something magical about starting your day with fresh bread and mint tea while listening to the call to prayer echoing off the medina walls. The location is what really sets this place apart though – you’re close enough to Jemaa el-Fnaa to walk there in about 15 minutes, but far enough away that you won’t be dealing with the chaos and noise all night. It’s right in that sweet spot where you feel like you’re living in the medina rather than just visiting it. The narrow streets can be a bit tricky to navigate with luggage (honestly, pack light), but once you’re settled in, you’ll find yourself perfectly positioned to explore the souks, grab dinner at some of the local spots that don’t see many tourists, and then retreat to your peaceful sanctuary when the medina gets too intense. That 9.1 rating isn’t just numbers – it reflects what you actually experience when you stay here.

Quiet, charming Dar in the heart of Medina Marrakech, very close to Jemaa El-Fnaa square. Wonderful terrace and very spacious rooms. The little birds will sing in the open patio and you will feel like you are in Paradise!
What could be improved: We checked-out at 8:00 in the morning for an organised trip to Atlas mountains and we didn't have the chance to eat breakfast or see the staff to say good bye.Comfortable and relaxing – Sarah from United Kingdom – 24 April 2025 (8/10)
It doesn’t looks like what it was from the outside but when you get inside it’s beautiful!

Haha, im travelling solo so yeap that was a bit if a shock, the rooftop was beautiful tho, the best part of the stay was actually the staffs and the breakfast! Delicious Moroccan breakfast. Im very picky about what i eat but the breakfast was delicious.

Great location, very peaceful. We stayed in one of the suites and it was great – the bathroom was amazing. The owners were very hospitable and the breakfast was good. The terrace was also nice as it had a few loungers you could relax on.
