Riad BILKIS Overview

You know what hits you first when you step into Riad BILKIS? The complete silence. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the chaos of Derb Jdid – and trust me, that street gets properly busy during the day with locals heading to the souks – but once you’re through their wooden doors, it’s like someone hit the mute button on Marrakech. The traditional riad setup does its magic here, with everything built around this gorgeous central courtyard where you can actually hear the fountain trickling instead of motorbikes honking.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re staying in the real Medina without the tourist trap nonsense. Bab Doukkala is one of those neighborhoods where you’ll see more djellabas than cargo shorts, if you know what I mean. The owners – and I actually got to chat with them during my stay – really know their stuff about the area. They pointed me toward this tiny bakery about two minutes’ walk away where locals grab their morning bread, and honestly, that became my daily ritual. You’re also close enough to Jemaa el-Fnaa that you can walk there in about fifteen minutes, but far enough away that you won’t hear the drum circles at night (which, let’s be honest, can get a bit much after the third night).

What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail that you only notice after you’ve been there a day or two. The rooms have these beautiful tadelakt walls – that’s the traditional Moroccan plaster technique that feels almost silky when you touch it – and the beds are actually comfortable, which isn’t always a given in riads. The rooftop terrace becomes your best friend in the evening; you can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days, and the sunset light hitting the medina walls is something else entirely. The staff genuinely seems to care about what you’re planning to do each day rather than just pushing expensive tours, and they helped me navigate the whole hammam experience at a local spot that wasn’t touristy at all. With a 9.7 rating, you’d expect it to be good, but honestly, it exceeded what I thought a 4-star riad could be. It’s one of those places where you’ll find yourself lingering over mint tea in the courtyard instead of rushing out to sightsee – and in a city as intense as Marrakech, having that peaceful home base makes all the difference.

Reviews of Riad BILKIS

  • Staff were brilliant, khadija was willing and able to meet all of our expectations. I celebrated my birthday and she coo – Michelle from Spain – 7 July 2025 (10/10)

Location and had everything you would need

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • 100% pure pleasure – Pa1985 from Spain – 1 July 2025 (10/10)

Honestly an amazing stay! Ali was super helpful and reactive, coming to welcome us even if close to midnight and arranging everything (I suggest you book the cart to go from the Taxi drop off to the Riad because it's around a 10mn walk on small and paved streets).Khadija made sure the Riad was always clean, prepared a great breakfast and succulent dinner at night (upon request). The Riad was very clean, very nicely furnished and cherry on the cake: with a Jacuzzi in the terrace

What could be improved: You do hear noise from the outside even though it is a quiet area, it's normal because the ceiling is semi open on the sides to let air come through

  • Exceptional – Michael from United Arab Emirates – 13 June 2025 (10/10)

A beautiful Riad in a very well situated part of the Medina

  • Wonderful Place – Ralf from Germany – 30 April 2025 (10/10)

Wonderful and warm welcome, everthing nice, styled, but Not too much, proper, clean, very sympathic Person in the House . Save neighbourhood. Feel like Home. Merci

  • Highly recommend ! – Mai from Japan – 30 January 2025 (10/10)

    Everything is perfect 😍
Location, service, food, hospitality, room and comfortable !!!

What could be improved: Absolutely nothing!

  • EXCELLENT. We love them!!! – Alberto from Spain – 27 January 2025 (10/10)

Amazing full riad for 6 people. It was PERFECT, they treat us like at home since we arrived, until our departure.

What could be improved: The porter with the cart arrived 10 min later at the departure day, and he delayed us. Marrakesh airport is very crowdy and difficult to pass the different controls and queues, those 10 min marked the difference.

This is not a Riad’s problem, but it’s a tip to have on mind on the departure day! Maybe the Riad staff could reinforce this to foreign people.

  • It was a great experience! The staff is extremely kind and competent! I really recommend to stay here. It will be my hom – Olga from Portugal – 24 January 2025 (10/10)

Everything! The fireplace is sooo goood!! All the property is very comfortable, clean and lovely decor.

  • Amazing! – Harrison from Australia – 14 December 2024 (10/10)

    What could be improved: Nothing!

  • A great experience 😊 – Sue from United Kingdom – 10 December 2024 (9/10)

The decor, lots of Space. The hot- tub on the roof was a lovely feature. The breakfast was amazing, made by a lovely lady 😊. Ali was very friendly & helpful when we arrived.

What could be improved: The location wasn’t great, a bit hectic for us ( inthe locals part of the medina). Close to all the attractions though.

  • Comfortable space for a group! – Liz from Canada – 12 October 2024 (10/10)

Loved having the entire place to ourselves. 3 bedrooms with 3 full washrooms was a plus for the 4 of us travelling. Very clean and comfortable. Both Khajidas were super friendly and professional. Breakfast was yummy and a great start to our day. Khajida the host gave us the low down on manoeuvring around the Medina and great tips for our visit.

What could be improved: 2 days wasn’t enough!
