Riad bleu du Sud Overview
You know what struck me first about Riad Bleu du Sud? The absolute silence once you step inside. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the chaos of Jemaa el-Fnaa – maybe a five-minute walk through the medina’s winding alleys – but the moment that heavy wooden door closes behind you, it’s like entering a different world entirely.
The thing about Derb Tbibe is that it’s actually one of the better-kept secrets in Riad Zitoun Jdid. Most tourists get completely turned around trying to find places in this part of the medina, but honestly, that’s what makes it special. The riad sits on this narrow derb (that’s basically a small street for anyone not familiar with Marrakech’s layout), and while you might need to ask for directions once or twice, the locals around here are genuinely helpful – not like some of the more touristy areas where everyone’s trying to be your “guide” for a fee.
What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to keep that authentic riad feel without skimping on comfort. The courtyard is gorgeous, obviously – that’s standard for riads – but the attention to detail is what sets it apart. The tiles aren’t just pretty; they’re actually cool under your feet during those scorching Marrakech afternoons when the temperature hits 40°C. And the rooms… well, let’s just say they understand that travelers want traditional Moroccan character but also need decent water pressure and air conditioning that actually works. The beds are proper comfortable too, which isn’t always a given in these traditional buildings.
I’ll be honest though – if you’re someone who needs to be right in the thick of things, you might find the location a bit removed from the main tourist drag. But personally, I think that’s a massive plus. You’re close enough to walk to the souks in about ten minutes (fifteen if you get lost, which happens), but you’re not dealing with the constant noise and hassle. Plus, there’s this little café around the corner that serves incredible mint tea for like 8 dirhams – the kind of spot you’d never find if you stayed in one of those big hotels in Gueliz.
The staff here actually know the medina inside and out, which is rarer than you’d think. They’ll give you proper directions, not just vague waves toward the general direction of wherever you’re trying to go. And when they recommend restaurants, they’re not getting kickbacks – they’re genuinely trying to help you find good food. That 9.1 rating isn’t just because the place looks nice in photos; it’s because they’ve figured out how to make the whole experience work smoothly.
If you’re planning to visit, just know that the medina can be absolutely mental during peak season (think March-April and October-November), but that’s when this place really shines. You get to experience the energy of Marrakech without feeling like you’re camping in the middle of a street fair. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the WiFi can be a bit spotty in some rooms – it’s an old building, thick walls, you know how it is. But honestly, isn’t that kind of the point of coming here?

Reviews of Riad bleu du Sud
An excellent few days away in a wonderful character property. I would recommend this place to anybody! – Fiona from United Kingdom – 27 June 2025 (10/10)
The Riad is a wonderful place to stay, very central and convenient for so many attractions. Only a short walking distance to the main square. The staff were all very helpful and would do anything for you.
What could be improved: There was nothing I didn’t like about this Riad. It is not a luxury hotel, but is full of character and provides excellent value for money.Exceptional – Kjustynski from Poland – 1 June 2025 (10/10)
The Riad looks amazing and the atmosphere inside is of calmness and setenity. You could really feel the richness of moroccan culture here. Also great breakfast and friendly host.
What could be improved: Coming during the night and navigating through streeta felt off. We also weren't sure if tbe room we got was for a whole stay or just rest of the first night.Exceptional – Jemma from United Kingdom – 28 May 2025 (10/10)
The beautiful decor, amazing breakfast and Azzddine went above and beyond to help us
Couldn’t have had a better first stay in Marrakech – Iyad from United Kingdom – 27 May 2025 (10/10)
We had amazing stay here for our first time in Marrakech. The staff are so friendly, attentive and welcoming. Each morning we had breakfast, a selection of Moroccan breads, jam, honey, marmalade and a cake (cakes and savoury pastries changed each day) as well as tea and coffee.
Our rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels and sheets without even asking, the rooms are very pretty and reflect Moroccan culture and art and the riad as a whole is stunning. There is also access to a rooftop terrace if you want to relax, have a smoke or enjoy the sun.
We were given clear directions and brochures for the medina and popular attractions and the staff answered all our questions, even offering to call and book restaurants for us if we needed. If you speak/understand French, English or any form or Arabic the staff can communicate in all 3. Great experience overall and would recommend booking as I believe it’s a very popular riad.
What could be improved: N/AExceptional – Didara from Italy – 12 April 2025 (10/10)
The staff very friendly, breakfast was very tasty, I totally recommend this Riad
Overall, the service is really great and you can find your stay very enjoyable just because the service is so good. This – Isaac from United Kingdom – 31 March 2025 (8/10)
The property was very aesthetic and great for a couple to live in. Very central. You can’t get in directly through taxi but they drop you off at the nearby carpark and it’s a 4 minute walk to the riad. Breakfast is always very filling. The staff is very welcoming and hospitable. The lady would give an introduction about the property and Marrakech and offer Marrakech mint tea. They have towels, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided.
What could be improved: The room we had lacked lighting and the shower head has a small crack, but we were still able to have a good shower.Exceptional – Evanthis from Cyprus – 4 March 2025 (10/10)
Βeautiful place to stay in the medina in a quiet street.
Helpful and friendly staff taking care of you anytime of the day. Moroccan hospitality at its bestExcellent stat in a very nice Riad with exceptionally kind and serviable staff. – Thierry from Belgium – 21 February 2025 (8/10)
Situated in the center of the city so very close to all main attractions. The staff is equaly polite as serviable. Very nice stay
What could be improved: N/aIt's like a dream! – Denise_25 from Germany – 5 February 2025 (9/10)
This riad is wonderful, we felt like we were in 1001 Nights! The decoration is absolutely charming and in our room and bathroom there were even rose petals. The staff is very friendly and helped us with everything we needed. The breakfast is also very good.
What could be improved: There are no fruits at the breakfast, but I understand it is Moroccan style. And about the location, the riad is a little bit hidden and to get there you need to walk through alleys with earthquake ruins.Authentic&Exclusive – Milica from Serbia – 29 January 2025 (10/10)
Absolutely everything about this place is authentic and breathtaking. From the moment you arrive, you feel the warmth and charm of a truly special experience. The cleanliness is impeccable, every detail is carefully maintained, and the location is simply perfect—close to everything yet peaceful and inviting.
The breakfast is a true delight—diverse, fresh, and incredibly delicious, offering something for every taste. But what truly makes this place stand out is the exceptional hospitality. I must especially commend Azzddine, a kind and beautiful soul who goes above and beyond to ensure every guest feels welcome and cared for.
Our stay here was an experience to cherish. I can’t recommend it enough!
