Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of riads in Marrakech, and Riad Choubi honestly surprised me in the best way possible. You know how some places look amazing online but then you show up and it’s… well, not quite what you expected? This wasn’t one of those times. The three-bedroom setup in the heart of the Medina actually gives you proper space to spread out – I mean, when was the last time you had a riad to yourself where you didn’t feel like you were bumping into other guests every five minutes?

The location on derb sidi lahcen ou ali is pretty much perfect if you want that authentic medina experience without being completely lost in the maze. You’re close enough to Jemaa el-Fnaa that you can hear the evening buzz (but not so close that the drums keep you up all night – trust me on this one). What I really loved was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood. They didn’t just give me the tourist map and point vaguely toward the souks. Instead, they told me which spice vendor has the best prices, which hammam the locals use, and – this was gold – where to grab breakfast that doesn’t cost a fortune. The riads’s traditional architecture hits all the right notes too, with that gorgeous central courtyard that stays cool even when it’s blazing outside. The bedrooms are spacious by Marrakech standards, and honestly, the whole place feels more like borrowing a friend’s beautifully restored house than staying in a hotel.

Here’s the thing though – and I’m being completely honest here – the medina can be intense, especially your first time. The narrow streets, the constant energy, the merchants who’ve perfected their sales pitch on tourists… it’s a lot. But that’s actually what makes Riad Choubi work so well. After a day of navigating the souks and dodging motorbikes in alleyways barely wide enough for two people, you step through that heavy wooden door and suddenly you’re in this peaceful oasis. The contrast is pretty incredible, actually. I found myself looking forward to coming back each evening, which isn’t something I can say about every place I’ve stayed. The 8.6 rating makes sense when you consider you’re getting authentic medina living without sacrificing comfort, plus the kind of local knowledge that can make or break a Marrakech trip. If you’re the type who wants to experience the real medina but also wants a proper retreat at the end of the day, this place gets it right.

  Siamo arrivati la sera non abbiamo trovato nessuno ad accoglierci e purtroppo abbiamo dovuto aspettare quasi 1 ora per strada perché ci rispondessero al telefono per avere codice di accesso al Riad
  Posizione ottima Riad bello ma purtroppo trasandato tracce di muffa sui muri del piano terra
  Rubinetto doccia rotto nella camera del 1’ piano
  Scarico doccia intasato nella camera del 2’ piano
  Bellissime piante vere in salotto ma sofferenti piene di polvere
  Abbiamo chiesto colazione a pagamento e solo la sera dell arrivo ci hanno detto che per festa fine Ramadan non avevano trovato nessuno che facesse il servizio .
  Apertura serratura porta difettosa la chiave gira a vuoto fino a 45 giri prima di riuscire ad aprirla
  Speriamo che il gestore accetti queste come critiche costruttive per dare allo splendido Riad la bellezza che merita

  Kdo chce poznat Marrakesh zevnitř, tak vřele doporučujeme. Ubytování přímo v Medině. Velice krásný a vkusný interiér.
  
  What could be improved: Při naší návštěvě v březnu, zde bylo vlhko a ve spodních prostorách bylo chladno. Byl zde cítit odpad.
