Riad CK Medina Overview

You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of riads in Marrakech over the years, and Riad CK Medina honestly feels like finding a secret that locals forgot to gatekeep. It’s tucked away on Derb El Hammam – which, fair warning, your taxi driver will probably get lost trying to find the first time because these derb addresses are basically medieval GPS puzzles. But that’s actually part of the charm here.

The moment you step through that heavy wooden door (and I mean heavy – these old medina entrances don’t mess around), you’re hit with this immediate sense of calm that’s pretty remarkable considering you’re literally a five-minute walk from the chaos of Jemaa el-Fnaa. The interior courtyard is what riads are supposed to be but rarely nail this well – there’s this gorgeous fountain in the center that actually sounds soothing instead of like a broken faucet, and the tile work is the real deal, not the tourist-trap knock-off stuff you see everywhere. I spent way too much time just sitting there with mint tea, watching the light change as the sun moved across the opening above.

What really sets this place apart, though, is how they’ve managed to modernize without losing that authentic medina feel. The rooms are honestly beautiful – mine had this incredible carved ceiling and the bed was actually comfortable (not always a given in traditional riads, let me tell you). The bathroom was surprisingly spacious with proper water pressure, which is worth mentioning because I’ve had some pretty disappointing shower experiences in old medina buildings. The staff here really knows their stuff too – they’ll arrange your airport transfer without trying to upsell you on some sketchy tour package, and when I mentioned wanting to find good leather goods, they pointed me toward a workshop near Bab Debbagh that was absolutely perfect and completely off the tourist trail.

Location-wise, you’re right in the heart of everything but somehow insulated from the madness. It’s maybe a ten-minute walk to the main square, but you can actually sleep at night because you’re just far enough from the late-night drumming and street food vendors. During the day, you’ve got the spice markets practically on your doorstep, and honestly, waking up to the call to prayer echoing off the ancient walls never gets old. The only tiny downside – and this is really picking nits – is that the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, but honestly, if you’re checking emails constantly in a place like this, you’re doing it wrong anyway.

I mean, with a 9.4 rating, you’d expect it to be good, but this place actually lives up to the hype. It’s got that perfect balance of authentic Moroccan hospitality and modern comfort that’s surprisingly hard to find in the medina. Plus, the rooftop terrace has these incredible views of the Atlas Mountains on clear days – definitely worth setting your alarm for sunrise at least once.

Reviews of Riad CK Medina

  • Beautiful riad in city center – Esther from United States – 9 June 2025 (10/10)

The staff were kind and attentive. The riad had a beautiful interior, comfortable and spacious rooms, and a terrace with a pool. Breakfast was very good. We would love to return when we come back to Marrakech.

  • Great stay in the Medina – Marko from Croatia – 8 June 2025 (10/10)

Excellent location, friendly staff, always happy to help and provide assistance regarding all kinds of requests. The place is very well equipped and maintained (super clean) in the heart of the Medina. Good breakfast, nice terrace. Highly recommended if you want a great riad experience.

What could be improved: A little daily light in some rooms, but this being a traditional riad, it is as expected (hence the medium score for the view from the unit, the view is great from the terrace though).

  • Best Riad in Marrakech! – Silvia from United Kingdom – 10 May 2025 (10/10)

I mean, where do I start…possibly the best riad in Marrakech, a few minutes from the main square but tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the souks – you practically don't hear any noise. From the warm welcome on our first day, we knew our 1 week accomodation will be amazing! Hicham, Usama & Coline were very attentive, helpful and made us feel at home. Breakfast times are flexible until 11am and can be organised according to your programme. Excursions can be arranged at the riad, private or in groups at very reasonable prices. Among the best shower room facilities in any hotel/riad I've been to. Rooms were clean, bed was made very clean & tidy every day. AC and the double door window was perfect for circulation of fresh air during hot summer days! Not to mention the terrace which had a small pool and comfortable sunbeds – these were perfect after a long day of excursions to lean back, relax and rejuvenate. I will be recommending to every friend and family looking to travel to Marrakech. Thank you! ❤️

Coline and the staff are very friendly and always there to help you with everything you need! I will definitely book again next time visiting Marrakech!

  • Exceptional – Javier from United States – 1 May 2025 (10/10)

Riad CK Medina is truly a gem in the heart of Marrakech, and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay during my visit. From the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely welcomed and taken care of. The warmth and hospitality of everyone—from the owner, Coline, to the incredible staff—made my experience unforgettable. Special thanks to Mehdi, who greeted me with the kindest welcome I could have imagined. His friendliness and attention to detail set the tone for an amazing stay right from the start.

The Riad itself is beautifully maintained, combining traditional Moroccan charm with modern comforts. The ambiance is peaceful and relaxing, which is a perfect contrast to the lively energy of the medina just outside its doors. It’s centrally located, which makes exploring the city incredibly convenient. You’re just a short walk away from many of Marrakech’s key attractions, including one of the bustling souks (markets) where you can dive into the local culture, shop for artisan goods, or simply enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.

Whether you're sipping mint tea on the rooftop terrace or relaxing in your room after a day of exploring, the Riad offers a calm and serene retreat. The attention to detail, cleanliness, and care from the staff really elevate the entire experience.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Riad CK Medina to anyone visiting Marrakech. It’s more than just a place to stay—it’s an experience that reflects the warmth and magic of Moroccan hospitality. I’ll definitely be back!
