I mean, that’s half the charm of staying in the medina proper – you’re literally living inside the ancient walls, not in some sanitized hotel district. The address might say 40000 Marrakech, but you’re really in the heart of the old city where donkeys still carry goods down cobblestone paths and the call to prayer echoes off the walls at dawn.

The whole place feels like someone’s elegant family home (which, let’s be honest, it probably was). Those traditional Moroccan riads are built around central courtyards, and this one’s got that perfect mix of authenticity and comfort that’s actually hard to find. The rooms have those thick walls that keep things surprisingly cool, even when Marrakech gets brutally hot in summer. What I love is how they’ve managed to keep the original architecture – you’ve got your carved plasterwork, the geometric tiles, all that gorgeous detail work – without making it feel like a museum. The beds are actually comfortable, the bathrooms work properly, and there’s reliable wifi, which honestly isn’t a given in the medina.

Getting there can be a bit of an adventure since cars can’t navigate these narrow streets. Your taxi will drop you at one of the main squares, and then it’s a short walk through the maze of alleys. First time visitors always panic about finding their way back, but honestly, the staff at Clémentine are used to this – they’ll walk you to the main road and back until you get your bearings. The whole area comes alive at different times of day too. Early morning you’ve got locals heading to work, afternoons are pretty quiet when everyone’s avoiding the heat, and evenings… well, that’s when you hear the sounds of family dinners and kids playing in the neighboring courtyards.

The 9.3 rating really makes sense once you’re there. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Marrakech – you want over-the-top luxury, head to La Mamounia or one of those palatial resorts in the new city. But for actually experiencing what it’s like to live in this ancient city, staying somewhere like Riad Clémentine is perfect. The rooftop terrace gives you those classic medina views (you can actually see the Atlas Mountains on clear days), and the staff genuinely knows the neighborhood. They’ll point you toward the good local restaurants, not just the tourist traps, and they understand that sometimes you need directions to the same place three times because honestly, navigating the medina takes practice.

The whole experience feels authentic without being rough around the edges, if that makes sense. You’re still hearing the sounds of real Marrakech life – the evening call to prayer, neighbors chatting on their terraces, the occasional motorbike somehow navigating these impossible narrow streets. But you’ve also got a comfortable bed, decent breakfast, and people who can help you figure out where you’re going.

  Staff were extremely friendly and helpful! Beautiful little riad and even though it's in the hustle/bustle of the Medina, there is a calm tranquility once you step inside the Riad. Beautiful little pool area and courtyard with orange trees. A wonderful breakfast served each morning!

  Beautiful and luxurious-feeling– on the edge of the medina so accessible to taxis and easy to get to the old city or the new on foot. The pool was amazing, and there were a lot of little touches that made the riad feel more high-end: nice linens and bedding, pretty robes to wear to the pool, the orange-blossom smell everywhere. It was so quiet and peaceful to come home to after a day in the bustling medina; we would definitely stay here again!
  
  What could be improved: More our fault than the Riad's, but the language barrier was sometimes a challenge; it was hard to communicate requests like taxi pickup or an early checkout (I think booking.com's translation on the messaging app created some issues with the pickup).

  Riad Clémentine is the perfect place to stay in Marrakech. Sitauated wiithin the Medina walls away from the bustle and noise of the souks and surrounding roads, it is tranquil and beautiful. The rooms are large, comfortable and clean and the scent of orange blossom from the courtyard garden emanates all around. A heated pool is an added bonus with sun chairs provided with towels and even sun hats! We loved it here; the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The owner, Antoine, has created a restful, high-end riad and is the perfect place to be after a day of discovering the city. Highly recommended.

  The Riad Clementine is such a stunning property, and a beautiful place to stay. The property is located in a quieter part of the medina, a short walk away from the busy souks which makes it a tranquil oasis. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The pool in the riad is very inviting, as are the sun chairs which are equipped with towels and sun hats. The breakfast each morning is fresh and light, and I would definitely recommend having dinner in their dining room as well as its very good food with great ambiance. The staff are all so friendly, welcoming and helpful and they made our stay so enjoyable.
