You know what really struck me about Riad Côté palmeraie? It’s tucked away on this quiet side street off Route des Remparts, which honestly is perfect because you get that authentic riad experience without the tourist chaos of the main medina. I mean, you’re still close enough to walk to Jemaa el-Fnaa in about fifteen minutes, but when you step through those heavy wooden doors, it feels like you’ve found this secret oasis that most people just walk right past.

The whole place has this lived-in elegance that’s hard to fake – you can tell someone actually thought about how guests would move through the space. The central courtyard is gorgeous, obviously, but what I loved was how they’ve got these little nooks and corners where you can actually escape with a book when the main areas get busy. The palm trees (hence the name, I guess) create this natural canopy that keeps things cool even during those brutal afternoon hours. Staff-wise, they’re incredibly switched on – not hovering, but they seem to anticipate what you need before you ask. The guy at reception gave me the most detailed neighborhood map I’ve ever seen, complete with his personal recommendations for the best tagine spots that aren’t tourist traps.

What really sets this place apart is the attention to authentic details without falling into that over-the-top “Moroccan fantasy” trap some riads do. The tilework is stunning but not overwhelming, the rooms have actual storage space (thank god), and the bathrooms are properly modern while still feeling true to the architecture. I stayed in one of the suites facing the courtyard and honestly, waking up to that view every morning never got old. The only minor thing – and this might actually be a plus for some people – is that it can get pretty quiet in the evenings since it’s not in the thick of things, so if you want constant energy and street life right outside your door, you might prefer something deeper in the medina. But for me, having that peaceful retreat after long days exploring the souks and dodging motorbikes was exactly what I needed. The 8.6 rating feels spot-on – it’s definitely earned its four stars without any of the pretension you sometimes get at that level.

  Le Riad est très bien, il est grand, beau et très bien situé, dans une résidence qui comprend des restaurants et épiceries. Il est très bien positionné,en bordure de la medina. Nous avons été très bien accueillis ! Le petit tour avant d'arriver au riad était top,et nous a permis de voir quelques beaux quartiers de la ville.

  Very good location and felt very safe. The staff were so lovely. There was a pool and you could watch the sunrise and sunset from the roof if you liked. Lots of lovely amd affordable cafes nearby and plenty of friendly cats around!! 🐈
  
  What could be improved: It was a bit cold at night and the heaters weren't great, but the owner and manager were so hospitable and brought extra heaters and blankets for us! They were amazing.

  La gestionnaire Habiba le top du top. Merci encore pour tout. Sa bienveillance, sa disponibilité à fait de ce séjour un véritable havre de paix, où j’ai pu me ressourcer en famille.
  
  What could be improved: La propriétaire en revanche, aucun sens de l’accueil, limite elle nous disait de faire attention à si à ça alors que nous n’avions même pas commencer le séjour. Du coup j’ai préféré voir directement avec la gestionnaire qui elle a fait tout son possible pour que nous puissions profiter de notre séjour d’où la note de 10.
