Riad Dali Overview

You know what? I was honestly a bit skeptical when I first turned down Rue Derb Jdid looking for Riad Dali – I mean, the entrance is pretty understated, just a simple door tucked between shops selling leather goods and spices. But man, the second you step inside, it’s like walking into someone’s gorgeous private home rather than a hotel. The courtyard hits you immediately with this mix of orange blossom and that particular smell of old cedar that all the best riads have.

The whole place feels authentically Moroccan without being overdone, if that makes sense. They’ve got these beautiful zellige tiles that actually look lived-in rather than Instagram-perfect, and the staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood – not just the tourist spots everyone mentions. When I asked about getting to Jemaa el-Fnaa, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the main drag but suggested cutting through the smaller souks near Rue Mouassine because “it’s prettier and you’ll avoid the crowds until about 4 PM.” That kind of local insight is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to navigate the medina maze.

The rooms themselves are solid – not huge by Western standards, but that’s pretty typical for medina riads, and honestly the common areas are so beautiful you won’t want to hide away anyway. I actually loved having my morning coffee on the rooftop terrace while the city was still waking up, watching the storks on the nearby mosque minaret (there’s always a pair there, apparently). The 8.1 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but everything works, it’s clean, and the atmosphere is exactly what you’re probably hoping for in Marrakech. Plus, and this is crucial, you can actually sleep here. A lot of medina hotels are right in the thick of things where the noise goes until 2 AM, but this particular street settles down nicely once the shops close. Just be prepared for the usual medina quirks – sometimes the hot water takes a minute to get going, and you might hear the call to prayer pretty clearly in the early morning, but honestly, that’s part of the charm.

Reviews of Riad Dali

  • Avoid Riad Dali – Worst Experience Ever, area like slums – Azmat from United Arab Emirates – 21 April 2025 (1/10)

Follow up by host was good, host was good in talks but not in providing facilities

What could be improved: Terrible Experience – Do Not Book

Worst stay ever. We informed the host of our arrival time, but still had to wait over 10 minutes in the rain — we were soaked, and so were our bags. No welcome, no care.

The area is dirty, smells bad, and feels unsafe. The flat is extremely small, very old, Bedroom was like a storage box, and the bathroom barely usable.

Avoid this property and the entire surrounding area. Do not stay here or anywhere within 3 km of this place. Total regret. Totally ruined our Marrakesh experience.
Marrakech has many lovely areas, but this is not one of them. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

  • Perfecta ubicación – Antonio from Spain – 6 April 2025 (9/10)

La ubicación fantástica, el té de bienvenida y que nos imprimió los billetes de avión

What could be improved: El baño de abajo olía francamente mal.las almohadas algo duras

  • Superb – Bernardo from Spain – 19 March 2025 (9/10)

Really nice place and for a very good price, we stayed 6 people for 6 nights and everything was really nice. Asmi is very caring, we got tea upon arrival, cleaning service, he printed out our boarding passes and arranged the taxi to the airport. He was always attentive and willing to help in any way. Overall it was an amazing stay and we truly enjoyed it.

  • Loved our stay at Riad Dali – Jennifer from Belgium – 8 March 2025 (10/10)

We loved the space for our family of 4- Spacious, beautiful feel of Moroccan style. We loved the sitting area to be together. The location was perfect. We could walk to everything. Enjoyed the welcome tea on our first day. Host was responsive and helpful throughout our stay.

  • Fabulous Riad, centrallty located in the old town. – Paraskumar from United Kingdom – 30 December 2024 (10/10)

The Riad was a fabulous property in the Medina. Very centrally located with most attractions within 10 minutes walking distance. Host Humza was very friendly, approachable and answered any query immediately. He arranged airport shuttle and also arranged to meet us close to the property for check-in. We could also leave our luggage after check-out, as our flight was delayed. Highly recommend and will visit again.

  • MUY BIENNN – Alexa from Belgium – 23 September 2024 (9/10)

  • Absolutely amazing! Spacious and great location! – Asif from United Kingdom – 31 July 2024 (10/10)

The location is absolutely perfect right in the heart of Marrakesh. Jma el fnaa is very close and you get a real feal of the city. Also the space in the apartment is great three spacious rooms with AC. And has an iron and washing machine too. Perfect for a family or group of friends. Staff were very pleasant.

What could be improved: The apartment was difficult to find first it’s best to contact the property directly to get the exact location has Marrakesh has many streets that look the same.

  • Great riad to stay – Alexandra from Germany – 7 April 2024 (8/10)

Amazing location, maybe a bit hidden from a public eye, thus hard to find after arriving. But very close to everything you need, a shop nearby, the main square and a lot of. Cafes and restaurants.
Great value for the money! We only used 2 bedrooms, but it was still better than booking 2 separate hotel rooms. So it was a luxurious stay for us.
We were lucky to see the sunrise couple of times on the roof terrace as well.
Generally it has everything you need for a stay for a week or two.
The staff was very helpful and was texting us back immediately when we needed something.

What could be improved: Every bed was different from the other, so it was strange to realise after a couple of nights. My bed had some plastic lining under the cover and it made it loud to move on it during the sleep, and at times just extremely hot.
Water in the showers wasn’t too strong – and I don’t complain much considering it is a drought year, but I was more uncomfortable with the water not leaving the shower fast enough. So, the whole bathroom was just a lake after 5 mins. We used separate bathrooms, but you wouldn’t be able to use just one of them with several people sharing.
But all of those are minor inconveniences.

  • Very nice and typical – Philippe from France – 2 April 2024 (9/10)

Big space, ground floor with 2 bedrooms, first floor with one bedroom and 3rd floor roof top.
    Very typical Moroccan.
    The location is great too
The lady was helpful and reactive.

What could be improved: My first night was a nightmare because of the next door neighbor, the lady and two kids who were screaming until 2 am. You can hear everything around, no soundproofing at all.
But the 2/3 nights I slept well with no noise.
