Riad Danka Overview
You know what? I’ve stayed at plenty of riads in Marrakech, and Riad Danka honestly surprised me. It’s tucked away on Derb Aarjane – one of those narrow alleys where you’ll definitely get lost the first time (bring your phone’s GPS, trust me). The location is actually perfect though, right off Rahba Lakdima, which locals just call the old spice square. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa, but far enough back that you won’t hear the drum circles at night.
The riad itself has that authentic feel without being stuffy about it. The courtyard is gorgeous – I mean, they all are, but this one has these incredible zellige tiles that catch the light just right in the late afternoon. The staff really knows their stuff too. Ahmed at the front desk gave me directions to this tiny bakery that I never would’ve found otherwise, and honestly, it became my daily breakfast spot. The rooms are what you’d expect from a well-run riad – thick walls that keep things cool, traditional furnishings that don’t feel like museum pieces, and surprisingly good water pressure (which, let’s be real, isn’t always a given in the medina). I stayed on the upper level and could actually see the Atlas Mountains from my window on clear days.
What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail. The breakfast spread includes proper Moroccan pastries alongside the usual stuff, and they’ll pack you a lunch if you’re doing a day trip to the Atlas. The rooftop terrace is where you want to be around sunset – you get this amazing view over the medina rooftops, and it’s quiet enough to actually have a conversation. I spent way too many evenings up there just watching the light change over the city. The whole place has this relaxed vibe that’s hard to find in busier parts of the medina. Fair warning though – like most riads, the WiFi can be spotty in the rooms, but it’s solid in the common areas. And if you’re arriving by car, you’ll need to park outside the medina and walk in (or take a petit taxi to the nearest accessible point). But honestly, that’s just part of the medina experience, and the staff will meet you with your luggage if you call ahead. With a 9.5 rating, I get why people keep coming back – it’s one of those places that feels like a genuine slice of Marrakech without any of the tourist trap nonsense.

Reviews of Riad Danka
Perfect stay! Immaculately clean and beautifully decorated with warm, stylish touches. Staff (Simo, Atimade, and Laila) – Collette from United Kingdom – 5 July 2025 (10/10)
Immaculate Riad with Exceptional Hospitality
We had a fantastic stay at this beautifully maintained Riad. The decor was of a very high standard—stylish, warm, and thoughtfully chosen to create a relaxing and welcoming environment.
From start to finish, the service was outstanding. Simo, Atimade, and Laila went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Their warm hospitality made the Riad feel like a home away from home.
Breakfast was another highlight—expertly prepared, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious.
I highly recommend this Riad to anyone looking for a peaceful, elegant stay with personal touches and first-class service.

Breakfast was good but a little limited and would have like a choice. Our room was spacious and comfortable and staff helpful, friendly and Simo would always be ready to help with advice and arrange transport or directions. Hotel was perfect location for the souks and restaurants.
What could be improved: For the first couple of days the hotel didn't have any soft drinks or offer coffee or tea. This was our second stay here, we had the same room as last time – just exceptional – Leo from United Kingdom – 3 May 2025 (10/10)

The staff were fantastic from start to finish. The women in the morning who make breakfast and clean rooms couldn’t do enough for us. Simon who works later was welcoming and very helpful, a very good man. Staff as a whole are an absolute credit to the Riad. Also my wife made a new best friend, the cat
