Riad DAR HOME Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked down Derb Si Hassi looking for Riad DAR HOME, I thought my GPS had completely lost its mind. The street is this narrow little alley that winds through the Kasbah, and you’re basically following ancient walls until you spot number 6. But that’s actually part of what makes this place so special, you know? You’re literally staying in the old fortified part of Marrakech, which means you’re about a five-minute walk from the Saadian Tombs and El Badi Palace – but without the tourist chaos that hits the main medina.
The riad itself has that perfect balance of traditional architecture and modern comfort that’s honestly hard to find at this price point. The central courtyard is gorgeous (as you’d expect), but what really got me was how quiet it stays even when the place is full. The thick walls do their job, and the staff – well, they actually seem to care about keeping the atmosphere peaceful. I mean, you’ll still hear the call to prayer from nearby mosques, but that’s part of the charm. The rooms are properly air-conditioned, which is crucial if you’re visiting in summer, and the beds are actually comfortable – not always a given in traditional riads. What surprised me most was the attention to detail in the bathrooms; they’ve managed to install proper showers without destroying the original tilework.
Here’s what you should know practically speaking: the taxi drivers sometimes get confused about the exact location, so have the phone number ready. The riad will send someone to meet you at the main road if needed, which is incredibly helpful when you’re dragging luggage. Check-in was smooth, and they gave me genuinely useful tips about which restaurants to try nearby (there’s this little place around the corner that serves incredible tagines – locals eat there, always a good sign). The rooftop terrace is where you’ll want to spend your evenings, honestly. You get these views over the Kasbah and the Atlas Mountains in the distance, and it’s not overrun with other guests like some of the bigger places. The breakfast is solid traditional Moroccan fare, though don’t expect elaborate buffets. One small thing – the WiFi works well in common areas but can be spotty in some rooms, so if you need to work, test it when you arrive. Overall, this feels like staying in someone’s beautifully restored family home rather than a commercial hotel, and for an 8.5 rating, it delivers exactly what you’d hope for in this part of Marrakech.

Reviews of Riad DAR HOME
Very good – Eynard-machet from France – 11 June 2025 (8/10)
Jackye
What could be improved: Le jacuzzi non fonctionnel.Superb – Mairal from France – 1 April 2025 (9/10)
On recommande.
Recomendo – Ana from Portugal – 3 November 2024 (9/10)
ESTANCIA ENCANTADORA – David from Spain – 26 August 2024 (10/10)
– Badre from France – 1 August 2024 (7/10)
What could be improved: La piscine toute petite !
Very good – Helene from France – 31 May 2024 (8/10)
Riad molto bello e curato.
What could be improved: Migliorabile il contatto con il riad. Con la colazione inclusa servizio Top.Great value for money and experience – ideal for a group of friends. – Leon from Gibraltar – 29 August 2023 (9/10)
The Riad’s blend of modernity and authentic moroccan style. Very large and spacious riad – the photos posted do not do the house justice. The pool is bigger than it appears, as are all the rooms. The housekeeper was very helpful and a phone call away at all times. The location of the Riad is close to tourist attractions and is in a neighbourhood which adds to the experience.
What could be improved: The bottom floor has no air conditioning, just fans. Considering we were in a neighbourhood, it would have felt more secure if there was a gate in the front door.Exceptional – Yitzchak from United States – 2 November 2022 (10/10)
The host was very nice. The riad was beautiful and a nice blend of authentic Moroccan style and modern design. Great private pool and chamam.
