Riad Dar Nadwa Overview

You know what struck me first about Riad Dar Nadwa? It’s actually tucked away in this quiet corner of the medina where you can still hear the call to prayer echoing off the walls, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of the main souks every time you step outside. The address might look intimidating – Diour Jdad N° 52, Zaouia El Abbassia – but honestly, once your taxi drops you near Bab Taghzout, it’s just a short walk through these narrow alleyways that feel like stepping back in time.

The riad itself is one of those places that makes you understand why people fall in love with Marrakech. I mean, from the outside it’s just another heavy wooden door in a dusty wall, but step inside and you’re hit with this gorgeous central courtyard with traditional tilework that’s clearly been restored with care. The rooms wrap around this peaceful space, and I actually loved how you could hear the gentle splash of the fountain from most of them – it’s surprisingly soothing, especially after a long day navigating the medina’s sensory overload. The staff here really knows their stuff too; they’ll arrange everything from airport transfers to day trips to the Atlas Mountains, and they do it without that pushy sales vibe you get at some places. What I appreciated most was how they’d give you actual directions to places instead of just vague gestures – like, they’ll tell you to look for the blue door next to the spice vendor, not just “go that way.”

The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in authentic Marrakech without being completely overwhelmed. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa (though it feels longer when you’re winding through those maze-like streets), but the neighborhood around the riad has this lived-in feel where kids are playing soccer in small squares and women are chatting on doorsteps. I’d usually grab breakfast on the riad’s rooftop terrace – you can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days, which is pretty spectacular – then head out to explore. The evenings were my favorite though; you’d come back tired and dusty from haggling in the souks, and there’s something magical about retreating into this calm, beautiful space. Fair warning: the WiFi can be spotty (typical for old riads), and the traditional low beds might not be for everyone, but those feel like minor trade-offs for the whole experience. The 9.2 rating makes total sense – this isn’t luxury in the Western sense, but it’s exactly what a riad should be: intimate, authentic, and genuinely welcoming.

Reviews of Riad Dar Nadwa

  • If ever in Marrakesh and you want a place that is central and accommodating. This is the Riad of choic – Line from Denmark – 8 June 2025 (10/10)

The Riad was placed very centrally for the entire mid city. In 15 minutes the Souk is reached and everything is in walking distance. I was especially keen on the way a Riad works. It is a very comfortable and welcoming way of staying. Huge thank you to Said for being forthcoming and inclusive for visitors that ‘knew nothing’.
If going to Marrakech this is the way to stay. It was an absolute pleasure to stay at Riad Dar Nadwa and I would not hesitate to come back.

What could be improved: There was nothing not to like!

  • Beautiful Riad with the best staff! – Ella from United Kingdom – 11 May 2025 (10/10)

We loved our stay in Riad Da Nadwa, its located within walking distance to everything you'd need, our room was lovely and spacious and cleaned every day, we especially loved the tasty Moroccan breakfast every morning. Although, it's the staff that really made this stay 5 star! Everyone was warm and welcoming, extremely helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. They also arranged our transport to and from the airport! We will definitely be returning to this Riad on our next trip to Marrakech 🙂

  • Amazing – Ronald from United Kingdom – 2 May 2025 (10/10)

  • A truly beautiful and gracious space – Jen from Canada – 14 April 2025 (10/10)

Such a wonderful place- the kind of place you wish you booked more nights for… amazing hospitality by staff and manager. Multilingual service as well. Beautiful aesthetic throughout the space and great location close to souks (but not too close!). I have travelled to over 40 countries and this Riad is in my top ten of accommodations. Shukran Said and Lahcen!

  • Superb – Ivana from Netherlands – 5 April 2025 (9/10)

The suff was super friendly and welcoming, made us feel like home and helped a lot with practical tips. Location is at a walking distance from the old town but also from the gardens Majorelle and YSL museum and a Carrefour supermarket. The rooms a big, comfortable and clean, and the rooftop terrace is very nice.

What could be improved: Nothing really.

  • The Pearl of Marrakesh – quiet and cosy traditional oasis run by most attentive and friendly staff – Aleksandra from Slovenia – 4 April 2025 (10/10)

A quiet and cosy traditional oasis, run by the most attentive, respectful, and friendly staff. Our experience at the riad was magnificent, and we can't wait to come back. Although we arrived very late at the riad due to a flight delay, we were greeted by a warm welcome and the most delicious beef tajine. The riad is traditional, stylish, and full of authentic and impressive Berber details. The room was very cosy, with a comfortable bed and a window opening to the central courtyard. A delicious breakfast served in a quiet courtyard while listening to the birds chirping and looking at the wonderful plants was a priceless experience. During our stay in Morocco, we changed 4 accommodations and met great local people, but such wonderful, attentive, and friendly staff we haven't found anywhere. All of them – owner Lahcen, our star Said and whole team, were really amazing – l can't find proper words to describe so warm hospitality. Thank you for everything. I hope we will be back soon.

  • Pleasant stay – Noora from Finland – 2 April 2025 (10/10)

Riad Dar Nadwa offers great value for money, making it an excellent choice for travelers. The Moroccan breakfast is delicious and satisfying, adding an authentic touch to the stay. The room is spacious enough for two people, and the bathroom is clean and well-maintained and has air-con.

The staff is fantastic, not only cleaning our room daily but also being warm.
Omar, Zaid, the ladies (sorry we forgot the name) and Lahcen are welcoming and accommodating throughout our stay.
Additionally, they helped us arrange a taxi to and from the airport, making transportation hassle-free.

  • Exceptional – Mary from United Kingdom – 9 March 2025 (10/10)

Beautiful Riad, in the old town close to he maze of souks and about 20 minute walk to the main square. Perfectly quiet a night time, stunning decor and very lovely staff to make your stay very comfortable. Lachen checked in each evening to ensure we had had a lovely stay, gave us some tips for exploring in Marrakech. We had his number incase we needed anything, but didn't need to use this. Perfect start to our trip to Morocco

  • Exceptional – Niall from Ireland – 4 March 2025 (10/10)

  • Exceptional – Nasiru from United Kingdom – 20 February 2025 (10/10)

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Dar Nadwa Riad. The best part we're the exceptionally kind and supportive staff Saeed, Omar, Khadija, & Fatima…plus is clean, nice and in close proximity to most places I wanted to visit. Overall highly recommend.
