Riad Dar Nouba Overview
You know those riads you see in travel magazines that look too perfect to be real? Well, Riad Dar Nouba isn’t one of those – it’s actually better because it feels like a place people genuinely live and breathe in. Tucked away on Derb Slima in the Hart Soura neighborhood, this four-star gem sits in one of those maze-like corners of the medina where you’ll definitely get lost trying to find it the first time (honestly, just call them when you’re close – the staff will literally come meet you at the nearest landmark).
The thing about this place is how it manages to feel both completely authentic and surprisingly polished. The moment you step through that heavy wooden door – and I mean, you really have to push it – you’re hit with this incredible shift from the chaos of the medina streets to this serene courtyard space. The traditional tilework is gorgeous, sure, but what really got me was how they’ve kept all the original architectural details while actually making the rooms comfortable for modern travelers. The beds are properly firm, the bathrooms have decent water pressure (huge win in the medina), and there’s air conditioning that actually works when you need it. I stayed there during a particularly hot spell in September, and while you could hear the call to prayer echoing beautifully across the rooftops in the early morning, the rooms stayed blissfully cool.
What really sets Dar Nouba apart is how the staff treats you like family rather than just another booking. They’ll arrange a proper guide for the souks – not one of those aggressive guys who’ll drag you to their cousin’s carpet shop – and they actually know the quieter hammams where locals go. The rooftop terrace becomes this magical spot in the evenings where you can watch the sun set over the Atlas Mountains while sipping mint tea that’s actually made correctly (you’d be surprised how often hotels mess this up). The breakfast spread features proper Moroccan breads and local honey, though they’ll also make you eggs if you’re not feeling adventurous that morning. One small note – like most riads, the stairs are pretty steep and narrow, so pack light if you can. Also, while the Hart Soura area is perfectly safe, it’s one of the more residential parts of the medina, so it gets properly quiet at night, which I personally loved but some people might find too peaceful after the energy of places like Jemaa el-Fnaa. With a 9.7 rating, it’s clear other travelers have discovered what makes this place special – that perfect balance of authentic Moroccan hospitality and genuine comfort that’s honestly pretty rare to find.

Reviews of Riad Dar Nouba
It’s not a property, it’s a home. – Kerem from Turkey – 6 July 2025 (10/10)
First of all it wasn’t first stay in my life. But as it’s written in the title it’s exactly the truth. Marrakech it is totally different even though i’m coming from Turkey. Because it is too complicated. While we are getting closer to the riad i called him. He described us where the parking lot is. He parked his car to there. From parking lot to the house it is around 6 minute. Easy peasy. Then when we arrived to the riad he drew a map by himself to describe the around easily. Do not trust yourself because it is like labyrinth. Because it is narrow google maps doesn’t work properly enough. Take the map with you or you can take picture of the paper. You will need that paper. Then he showed us our room which is magnificent. He let us the their fridge to put something. Don’t forget to spend your one night their lovely terrace. It is better to spend so called luxury rooftops in old Madina. Which is super expensive and it’s not needed. He was a someone who is from your family. He behaves you a real brother. If i’m gonna pass through from Marrakech again i know i have house in Marrakech.
Thanks to Marouane and his lovely wife Gaethane and Maryam(staff i hope i wrote right who is always smiling even though she can speak english a bit)

What a tranquil place to rest after a hot and busy day in the Medina. Super close so you can easily come to back to rest during the hot afternoon hours and then go back into the Medina for dinner/ Jemaa el-Fan/ a drink on a rooftop.
What could be improved: Nothing- all goodTeam Oz visit Marakesh – Brenda from Croatia – 26 May 2025 (10/10)
From the time we were met until the time we left everything was perfect.
Room and bathroom were immaculate. Hosts were friendly and very welcoming making us feel like we were right at home. The beautiful woman responsible for making and serving breakfast was one of the most humble and beautiful persons we have met in our 4 weeks in Morocco
If contemplating visiting Marakesh don't go past this little gem. It's the best and we would definitely recommend it.
