You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of riads in Marrakech over the years, and Riad Deva Lina genuinely surprised me. It’s tucked away on Derb Kbala in the Kasbah quarter – and I mean really tucked away. You’ll definitely need to screenshot the directions because GPS gets confused once you’re weaving through those narrow stone passages. But honestly, that’s part of the charm. The Kasbah feels more authentic than the touristy Medina area, and you’re literally walking the same paths that date back centuries. The entrance is one of those classic unmarked wooden doors that looks like nothing special from the outside, but step through and it’s like entering someone’s incredibly stylish private home.

The whole place has this intimate, boutique feel that bigger riads just can’t match. There are only a handful of rooms, so it never feels crowded or impersonal. The traditional courtyard is gorgeous – all hand-carved plasterwork and that soft fountain sound that somehow makes the Marrakech heat bearable. What I really appreciated was how they’ve restored everything with such attention to detail. The tiles (zellige, if you want to get technical) are the real deal, not the mass-produced stuff you see elsewhere. And the staff? They actually remember your name and how you like your mint tea. The rooftop terrace gives you this incredible view over the Kasbah walls toward the Atlas Mountains – especially stunning at sunset when the light hits those red adobe buildings just right.

Here’s what makes this place special though: the location is absolutely perfect if you want to experience real Marrakech without the constant hassle. You’re close enough to walk to Jemaa el-Fnaa square (about 10 minutes through the souks), but far enough away that you won’t hear the chaos at night. The neighborhood has this wonderful evening rhythm – kids playing in the narrow streets, the call to prayer echoing off ancient walls, the smell of tagines drifting from family kitchens. And parking? Well, you’ll leave your car outside the medina walls like everyone else, but the riad can arrange pickup from there. The owners clearly know what they’re doing – everything from check-in to restaurant recommendations felt thoughtful rather than scripted. I mean, this place has a perfect 10 rating for a reason. It’s not trying to be a luxury resort; it’s giving you an authentic Moroccan experience in a beautifully restored traditional house. If you’re looking for a pool and room service, look elsewhere. But if you want to feel like you’re staying in a piece of living history while still being comfortable, this is it.

  Een heerlijk prachtig ingericht en schoon huis tussen de locale bevolking midden in de Kasbank – Medina. Geen seconde een onveilig gevoel gehad. Marie-Line en haar dames zorgen dat alles geregeld is. Heerlijk en uitgebreid verzorgd ontbijt geserveerd. Wij hebben als gezin samen met opa en oma genoten van het verblijf in Marrakech.
