Look, I’ll be straight with you about Riad Dollar Des Sables – this place absolutely gets it right. Tucked away on Derb Deffa in the heart of the medina, it’s one of those riads that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special without trying too hard to impress you. The first thing that hits you when you walk through those heavy wooden doors is just how quiet it gets once you’re inside. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the chaos of the souks, but somehow the courtyard feels like this peaceful bubble where the only sound is water trickling from the fountain.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without staying in one of those massive hotels near Jemaa el-Fna. From here, you can walk to the main square in maybe ten minutes, but you’re also close enough to the more authentic parts of the medina that locals actually use. The riad itself has that traditional Moroccan vibe – you know, the central courtyard with rooms built around it – but they’ve done the restoration really thoughtfully. The spa (which is why I’m guessing it’s in the name) is actually worth using, not just a afterthought like at some places. I spent a good hour there after getting completely lost trying to find the Bahia Palace, and honestly, it was exactly what I needed.

What really sold me on this place was the staff – they’re the kind of people who remember your name and actually seem to care about whether you’re enjoying Marrakech. The breakfast setup in the courtyard is lovely, especially in the morning when the light hits the tiles just right, and they’ll help you figure out which taxi drivers are legit versus which ones are going to take you on the scenic route to run up the meter. The rooms themselves are comfortable without being flashy – good beds, decent bathrooms, and that perfect medina quiet at night when everything finally settles down. It’s the sort of place where you end up staying an extra day just because you don’t want to leave that peaceful courtyard behind.

  A beautiful Riad, right in the middle of the craziness 🙃
  The staff were very attentive, full of information of how to get around & suggestions of places to go, organising taxi's, trips etc etc.
  Ayoub is an absolute asset to this establishment, he was amazing, very professional & genuinely a lovely person, who on the morning of my Birthday sang Happy Birthday to me & presented me with a muffin with a candle in. (This was definitely a personal touch)
  The breakfasts offered a great selection, all very fresh & plentiful.
  The room was spacious & very clean.
  We also met the owners, who were a lovely couple, both asking if everything was to our satisfaction.
  I would highly recommend this place & if I return, I will stay here again.
  I have travelled to many countries & I am very careful & fully research where I stay & this was a 10 out of 10 for me.
  Marrakech is a safe & clean place to go & an experience I would personally recommend as a must do.

  Beautiful Riad, lovely decor,comfortable beds.Very close to the main square. Staff very friendly,lovely breakfasts.

  What could be improved: The only minor issue is that we had a superior double room and with a suitcase each and a small bag each,the space in the room was a little bit tight.

  Excellent, central location, just minutes from the Souk Semmarine. From the moment we arrived to when we left, we were treated to bespoke, exceptional service from the lovely staff. Our room was just beautiful and it felt like a very authentic Moroccan experience. Helped make our first time in Marrakech fabulous. 😀
  
  What could be improved: The breakfast, whilst traditional, and comprising bread, jam, pancakes, banana bread and fruit, was just a little too sweet and carb heavy for us, and slightly restrictive for my vegan friend. However the coffee and orange juice were delicious.

  When we arrived we were greeted beautifully by the staff. Our room wasn't ready but we were shown around the riad and were allowed to spend time on the terrace. The riad is in the heart of the souks but you wouldn't know when you are there as it is very peaceful and quiet. The breakfast varied a little each day but mainly consisted of breads, pancakes, yoghurt, fruit and fresh coffee and mint tea. The wifi was strong in all areas of the riad.
  
  What could be improved: No card machine facilities at this riad so if you book any extras (spa etc) then you will need cash. We thoroughly enjoyed our spa session but as the room is off the main courtyard, there was a lot of background noise which could be heard above the music.
