Riad El Youssoufi Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of riads in Marrakech, and honestly? Most of them feel like they’re trying too hard to be “authentic.” But Riad El Youssoufi – well, this one actually gets it right. It’s tucked away on Arset Aouzal, which is this narrow street that winds through the Bab Doukkala area of the medina. You know how some places are impossible to find even with GPS? This one’s tricky too, but in a good way – it means you’re really in the heart of things, not stuck in some tourist bubble.
The thing that hit me first wasn’t the usual riad stuff (though the courtyard is gorgeous, don’t get me wrong). It was how quiet it gets once you step through that heavy wooden door. I mean, outside you’ve got the chaos of the medina – donkeys clip-clopping past, vendors calling out, mopeds somehow squeezing through spaces that seem impossible. But inside? It’s like someone turned down the volume on the entire world. The staff here actually know your name by day two, which sounds small but makes a huge difference when you’re navigating a place as intense as Marrakech. They’ll draw you little maps to get to Jemaa el-Fnaa (about a 10-minute walk through the souks), and more importantly, they’ll tell you which alleys to avoid after dark.
What really sold me on this place was the breakfast situation – they serve it on the rooftop terrace, and you can see the Atlas Mountains on clear mornings while sipping proper mint tea. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a well-run riad: traditional tiles, carved plaster, that sort of thing, but the beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in these historic buildings). The bathrooms have decent water pressure too, which… trust me, after a day exploring the dusty medina, you’ll appreciate that. I stayed here during shoulder season in April, and it was perfect – not too hot, not crowded, and the orange trees in the courtyard were blooming. The only tiny complaint I have is that the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, but honestly, that might be a blessing in disguise. You’re in one of the world’s most fascinating cities – put the phone down and go get lost in the souks.

Reviews of Riad El Youssoufi
Pleasant stay in Marrakech – Flavio from Italy – 9 July 2025 (10/10)
Very nice staff, helpful and professional. the riad looks nice and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Decent breakfast and pool. Great value for the money. We stayed in another riad in Marrakech that cost twice as much and was not as nice. Location is also good. Really recommended
What could be improved: Nothing worth mentioningBeautiful Riad – Sam from New Zealand – 6 July 2025 (10/10)
The location was great and communication with the hotel before arriving (for car parking) and during the stay. Beautiful breakfast each day on the terrace and the room was so nice.
What could be improved: No complaints!Beautiful oasis of peace in the heart of Marrakech medina with lovely rooms and fabulous staff, breakfast and pool – Robert from United Kingdom – 26 June 2025 (10/10)
Very small and a lovely courtyard with a beautiful pool. Amazing staff who looked after us and cooked a fabulous breakfast. They gave us recommendations for dinner and even a birthday cake. Thank you everyone at Riad El Youssoufi
What could be improved: Nothing, it was all amazing.Peace in a hectic city – Helen from United Kingdom – 19 June 2025 (10/10)
Tranquil respite from hectic Marrekesh. Friendly, very clean, very old, tiny doors , central and lovely breakfast on rooftop terrace.
What could be improved: No complaints at allIn the middle of the Marrakech chaos, this riad is a calm, elegant hug behind a little door. I’ve stayed in many riads o – Sarah from Germany – 17 June 2025 (10/10)
A magical little hug in the chaos of Marrakech!
If you want a place that feels like home—but better smelling, better looking, and with way better breakfast—Riad El Youssoufi is it. Spotless rooms, tasteful interiors, a lush little pool to cool off, and a rooftop terrace that feels like your private slice of heaven.
Every little wish I had was granted like magic (on request, I even got a local SIM card handed to me and installed before I finished my welcome tea!). The team is warm, welcoming, speaks perfect English and French—and always has a smile ready.
What could be improved: Zero drama. Not even a towel folded weird. What am I supposed to write here?We loved our stay! – Natalie from Canada – 13 June 2025 (10/10)
We loved the aesthetic and the hospitality. The rooftop breakfast was fantastic.
A very atmospheric riad! – Miltiadis from Netherlands – 10 June 2025 (9/10)
I would recommend this Riad, it is very conveniently located in the city center. Also, renovated and atmospheric
Very peaceful and beautiful hotel. – Barbara from Italy – 2 June 2025 (10/10)
Position is central to visit all main attractions of Marrakech on foot. The hotel is very peaceful and the staff is always available. It is great for a Moroccan experience and the breakfast offers very god traditional food. There is no noise at night and the Riad offers a terrace and pool. The hotel also offers the possibility of organising guided tours of Marrakesh.
Lovely Riad based mainly on lovely staff. – Linvana from Australia – 26 May 2025 (9/10)
Staff were lovely.
Breakfast was exceptional.
Location was safe and walking distance to everything.
What could be improved: We were happy with our stay but constructively….
Noise travels within the Riad. We could literally hear conversations and personal activities from our neighbouring rooms.
The third bed position in the Ivory room is just a mattress on the floor against glass window panes. There was no way to block the light so no chance of sleeping in if you have jet lag etc. I was always wary about kicking the glass in my sleep. Mattress is hard. Suits small person, not a taller adult.
The bathroom for this room, whilst private was outside the room. If I had known this, I probably would have stayed elsewhere as I am constantly using the bathroom at night and tripped in the dark on the doorway hobs which seperates the rooms.
A small inexpensive suggestion would be to provide a bottle of filtered water for each room daily.
Washing of laundry items overpriced.Great stay! – Dominic from United Kingdom – 23 May 2025 (10/10)
Beautiful tranquil riad with brilliant sunroof terrace.
Staff very accommodating and breakfast and dinner were outstanding!
Best tagine we had in Marrakech!
