You know what struck me first about Riad Elisa & Spa? The fact that it’s tucked away on Rue Sidi Lyamani in the medina but somehow manages to feel like a proper sanctuary once you step inside. I mean, finding it is half the adventure – you’ll definitely want to screenshot the address because GPS gets confused in those narrow medina streets, and honestly, asking locals for “Riad Elisa” worked better than any map.

The whole place has this authentic riad vibe without feeling like they’re trying too hard, if that makes sense. The courtyard is gorgeous (as you’d expect), but what I really appreciated was how they’ve managed the sound – you can hear the medina buzzing outside, but it’s not overwhelming. The spa part isn’t just thrown in as an afterthought either; they’ve got this hammam that locals actually use, which tells you something about the quality. The staff genuinely knows their stuff about traditional treatments, and the woman who did my argan oil massage had been working there for years and shared stories about the building’s history.

What really sets this place apart from other riads is the attention to practical details that matter when you’re actually staying somewhere. The WiFi works throughout the building (not always a given in medina riads), the hot water is consistently hot, and – this might sound silly but it’s important – the beds are actually comfortable by Western standards. You’re still getting the full Moroccan experience with the traditional decor and mint tea service, but you’re not sacrificing basic comfort for authenticity. The rooftop terrace gives you those classic medina views everyone wants for their Instagram, but it’s also just a nice place to decompress in the evenings when the call to prayer echoes across the city. They serve breakfast up there too, and honestly, starting your day with fresh orange juice and Moroccan pastries while watching the medina wake up… well, that’s pretty hard to beat. The location puts you within walking distance of Jemaa el-Fnaa square, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos right outside your door.

  The ambience, the sweet smell, the cleanliness you receive immediately you walk in, the hotel is well cleaned daily. The rooms are spacious compared to other riads i stayed in…..the staff are so helpful…they help you with getting bikes or cabs if you need one..they even assist with tours if you want. Everyone is friendly n helpful..I really enjoyed my stay..the location is close to all major sites.. not much trekking or spending transport fare..

  Staff, the property and location is superb! Very clean and housekeeping did amazing job! It has a stunning roof top terrace however during our stay was not staffed to offer drinks, perhaps out of season?
  
  What could be improved: Would have been lovely to have drinks on terrace, perfect setting to watch sunset but unfortunately not staffed. The shower had a low pressure, manageable for few nights but overall, great experience.
