Riad Eva Overview
You know what struck me first about Riad Eva? The moment you step off Derb Moulay Abdul Kader – and honestly, good luck finding it without asking for directions at least twice – you’re suddenly in this completely different world. The street noise from the main medina just… disappears. It’s one of those classic Marrakech riads where the magic happens behind an unassuming door, and Eva definitely delivers on that front.
The whole place feels like someone’s stylish aunt decided to turn her traditional house into a boutique hotel, if that makes sense. The courtyard is gorgeous – typical riad setup with that central fountain and rooms wrapping around it – but they’ve done something smart with the lighting that makes it feel intimate rather than echoey. I mean, some of these old riads can feel like you’re staying in a museum, but Eva manages to keep things authentic without being stuffy. The rooms are solid for a four-star place, though don’t expect huge spaces (it’s the medina, after all). What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – you’re close enough to walk to Jemaa el-Fnaa in about eight minutes, but far enough that you won’t hear the drum circles until 2 AM.
The staff actually knows the neighborhood, which sounds obvious but trust me, it’s not always the case. They’ll point you toward the little spice shop on the corner that locals use instead of the tourist traps, and they’re realistic about timing – like, they’ll tell you it’s a fifteen-minute walk to the Bahia Palace, not the “five minutes” you’ll hear elsewhere. The breakfast spread is decent, nothing groundbreaking, but the mint tea is properly done and the rooftop terrace gives you those classic medina views without the crowds you’d get at the bigger places. One small thing – the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms (seems to be a medina-wide issue), so if you’re planning to work remotely, maybe check the signal strength when you arrive. Overall though, Eva hits that sweet spot of being authentic and comfortable without trying too hard. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re actually staying in Marrakech, not just some international hotel that happens to be in Morocco.

Reviews of Riad Eva
Superb – Yiu from Hong Kong – 31 May 2025 (9/10)
The location is perfect. The breakfast was very good.
What could be improved: It's not easy to contact the staff at the night time and in the early morning. And the price was a little bit high.Family trip to Marrakech – Lorenzo from Italy – 14 March 2025 (7/10)
Location in a nice street close to the souk and main square. Right in the Medina.
Very colorful riad, hot water for having showers, nice terrace with stunning view
What could be improved: 10 dirham for every single boarding pass you need to print out
Breakfast was good (cake a little bit dry) but neither yogurt nor fruit.
There was none in the Riad once we got there for check-in; we had to reach out the owner several times to get the door open.Very good – Laura from Finland – 12 February 2025 (8/10)
Special thanks to cleaning ladies!
Nice colours and paintings all around
What could be improved: A bit small room, but it was OK!Epic stay, definitely recommend! – Lucy from United Kingdom – 29 October 2024 (8/10)
Such a great location (though down a dark alley so as a solo traveller with my children I was a little wary). I can not fault the staff – Arthur made our trip exceptional and the Madam who ran the Riad really did bend over backwards to assist before and after booking. She was excellent and so kind and helpful. Just fab and she was so reassuring to me as a lone female ( with 2 kids in tow) in a busy and hectic city!!
What could be improved: It was all great apart from we did have a stinky bathroom – the drains. But I don’t think anything could be done about that!Superb – Julia from Poland – 2 September 2024 (9/10)
Very colorful place, clean, good location
Highly recommended in the heart of the Medina – Calvin from Ireland – 21 January 2024 (9/10)
– Easy to find if you search on maps beforehand – it's only 5 minutes from Jemaa el-Fna and the souk leading to it is open late and always bustling with food and stalls.
– Let us check in ten mins after arrival even though we arrived quite early due to flight times.
– Room was very clean with private bathroom and good storage.
– Towels were provided, clean and changed daily.
– Beds extremely comfortable and made everyday.
– Breakfast is simple but tasty, authentic and filling. (Can't understand negative reviews – 3 to 4 types of breads with jam/nutella/butter/honey/cheese, with orange juice and a choice of coffee or tea).
– The terrace is a great spot for morning breakfast, afternoon chilling or evening sunset – the highlight of the property!
– Close to the busy souks, but just far enough off them to not hear the noise.
– Friendly and helpful staff, some knew English and some knew French.
What could be improved: – We asked for suggestions on things to do, but only really told things the accommodation provided (eg hammam and food offered at relatively higher prices, we went for cheaper options in the Medina). We were given a map, but it would have been nice to have someone explain the different areas of Marrakech, things to do, locations of good restaurants/hammams and things to explore – some local "advice".
– Rooms are sometimes dark, but often the case with Riads and inward facing windows. Noise wasn't an issue, apart from one group on the first night, it travels a bit in the accommodation.Would be excellent with improved plumbing – Steve from United States – 15 November 2023 (7/10)
Location, staff and ambience were excellent
What could be improved: Plumbing: little water pressure and both sink and shower drained poorlyGreat service – Manvir from United Kingdom – 17 March 2023 (9/10)
Siham was such a lovely host and very welcoming, helped me out with everything i could need. The room was very nice with unique features i've never seen elsewhere and had aircon.
What could be improved: There wasn't much room to walk about in my room due to there being 2 beds, and as I stayed in January the room got very cold at night with the stone walls so be prepared if coming in the winter (aircon did heat up room too so this helped). Wifi connection in my room was unstable at times but going onto the rooftop helped this issue and there is an amazing view from there – especially around midday when it is sunny and the prayer calls go off. I would highly recommend anyone staying in the Medina to have mobile data as this place is quite hidden from the main square and it is very easy to get lost.We were unlucky to stay during a very cold spell and therefore were unable to take full advantage of eating outside on t – Stewart from Belgium – 24 February 2023 (8/10)
very friendly staff, location brilliant, nice breakfast
What could be improved: Could be a bit noisy with people arriving late/departing earlySuperb – Heidurtho from Iceland – 28 December 2022 (9/10)
Beautiful riad and the staff was really sweet and helpful.
