Riad FARASHA Overview

You know what hits you first when you step into Riad Farasha? The silence. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of the Kasbah – like, proper old Marrakech where the walls have been standing since the 12th century – but somehow this place feels like a secret pocket of calm. The riad sits on Derb Rahala, which is this narrow alley that most tourists never find because, honestly, it’s buried so deep in the medina that even your GPS gives up.

The owner clearly gets what travelers actually want. The courtyard has this gorgeous fountain that’s not just for show – the sound of water actually drowns out the call to prayer at dawn if you’re a light sleeper (though honestly, you’ll probably want to hear it at least once). The rooms are what you’d expect from a proper riad: thick walls that keep things cool even in summer, tadelakt plaster that feels smooth as silk, and these beautiful cedar ceilings that smell faintly of wood polish. What surprised me was how they’ve managed to add modern touches without ruining the vibe – the WiFi actually works throughout the building, and the bathrooms have proper water pressure, which… well, anyone who’s stayed in the medina knows that’s not a given.

Here’s the thing about the location that booking sites won’t tell you: yes, you’re walking distance from Jemaa el-Fnaa, but you’re also tucked away enough that you don’t get the chaos and noise that comes with being right in the thick of it. The Saadian Tombs are basically around the corner – maybe a three-minute walk – and you can hit the spice markets without dealing with the main tourist crush. The staff knows the area inside and out, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to navigate those twisting alleys after dark. They’ll actually walk you back the first night if you want, which is pretty thoughtful. Check-in was smooth, no standing around waiting, and they had this amazing mint tea ready that wasn’t the overly sweet tourist version. The rooftop terrace gives you views over the Kasbah walls toward the Atlas Mountains, and it’s honestly one of those spots where you end up lingering way longer than planned. That 9.5 rating isn’t just numbers – it’s the kind of place where the details actually matter and someone clearly cares about getting them right.

  • The perfect place for a vacation! Quiet, welcoming and full of helpful people. – Magdalena from Poland – 7 July 2025 (10/10)

Our stay at Riad Farasha was excellent. Despite the location on the Medina it was very quiet. We were able to sleep and relax without any problems. The breakfasts were very tasty and fresh, in the days of the tours we got them early for which we were very grateful. Our host Wlid was super helpful and friendly. We could count on him in every situation and felt safe and taken care of thanks to his hospitality. The location was great, about 10/15 minutes walk from the main square. I highly recommend this place, it will provide everything you need for a successful vacation.

What could be improved: I don't see things like that.

  • Exceptional – Bronagh from Ireland – 28 June 2025 (10/10)

From the moment we arrived we were greeted like family by Walid and the staff. Walid's hospitality was amazing, after only just meeting him, we were invited to join him and his friends for his birthday celebrations on the lovely roof top terrace where we shared the largest bowl of couscous we've ever seen!

The riad itself is beautifully decorated and a lovely escape from the busy city. The rooms were so comfortable, and the pool in the courtyard was so welcome to dip my weary feet into after a long day of travel.

We loved this place so much, we returned twice during our travels around Morocco.

If we get the chance in the, hopefully not too distant, future to return to Marrakech, we would definitely stay here again.

  • A hidden gem of Marrakech – Teodor from Romania – 19 May 2025 (10/10)

Riad Rafasha is a hidden gem inside the of Marrakech because no one would suspect the visiting the crowded and narrow streets of the Old Town you would find something like this. There are 5 rooms, a small pool to cool you down after wandering the streets of Marrakech, a rooftop to rest on the hot days. Everything is very spotless. Walid, the manager, takes care of everything and is all day long there to help you with every problem or question that you have. He should definitely get a raise, he gets full credit for the succes of this Riad!

What could be improved: The Riad is a traditional Morrocan house and the kitchen is very close to the rooms and can be a little noisy in the morning but this is the price you have to pay for a delicious breakfast.

  • A perfect stay in the heart of Marrakech – Melanie from Canada – 12 May 2025 (10/10)

Best riad we stayed at during our trip to Morocco!
Walid greeted us with tea upon arrival and was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. He even woke up at 4 a.m. to prepare breakfast before our early flight and walked us to our cab. The location is ideal—close to restaurants, the medina, and major attractions, yet much quieter than other parts of the medina. The beds are comfortable, and the rooftop is stunning. Nothing but positives—huge thanks to Walid for making our stay so special!

  • Had a really nice time at this Riad. Staff were really attentive and offered to show us around. We asked if we could hav – Courtney from United Kingdom – 6 May 2025 (10/10)

Close to popular areas. Clean and spacious

  • Highly recommend – Patrik from Slovenia – 6 May 2025 (10/10)

The host was very helpful and kind, a very good person. When we arrived from the airport in the middle of the night he was there waiting for us smiling and served us a cup of tea. We stayed for two nights and he recommended and arranged a great trip to Ozoud waterfalls for us on the last day. He also offered to make us a breakfest earlier than usually due to our trip and showed us to the meeting point. He also gave us some tips on going around Marrakesh and Morocco in general. The room was clean, tidy and beautiful. The breakfast was delicious and wonderful. Great experience staying at the riad.

  • loved the stay – Genay from United States – 2 May 2025 (10/10)

wow. the riad is amazing. It is newly built with beautiful Moroccan design and furnishings. the host is very kind and helpful. it had a great vibe. we enjoyed a good breakfast on the terrace. the bed, sheets and pillows were high quality. we slept very well. we highly recommend. the location is good. 10 minute walk to the main medina area yet removed enough to be able to breathe.

What could be improved: all good.

  • Nice staff, clean and comfortable riad, easily accessible. – Ionut from United States – 29 April 2025 (10/10)

The staff was great, very courteous and always available for anything we needed. A special note for Walid, Adam and Fatimzara who were super nice and friendly. The riad was clean, comfortable and easily accessible. A great value for money.

What could be improved: There was a bit of construction work around but noise was reasonable and never after 8pm or before 8am.
