You know what caught me off guard about Riad Fz? The location is absolutely perfect – like, scary perfect. I mean, you’re literally on Avenue Jamaa El Fna, which sounds super touristy and potentially nightmarish, but actually you get the best of both worlds here. You can stumble out and be in the heart of all that incredible Jemaa el-Fnaa chaos in about thirty seconds (the snake charmers, the food stalls, the whole sensory overload), but then retreat back to this surprisingly peaceful courtyard when you need to breathe again.

The riad itself has that classic Moroccan architecture you’re hoping for – think intricate tilework and a gorgeous central courtyard where you’ll probably end up spending way more time than expected. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to keep the authentic feel without making you suffer for it, you know? The rooms are comfortable (proper AC, thank god), and the staff actually seems to know what they’re doing. I stayed there during shoulder season, and honestly, the service felt more personal than some of the bigger places I’ve tried in the Medina. The rooftop terrace is where you’ll want to camp out in the evenings – you get these amazing views over the old city, and it’s one of those spots where you can actually hear the call to prayer echoing from different mosques, which is pretty magical if you’re into that sort of thing.

Here’s the thing though – and this is important – while you’re right in the thick of things, the riad sits just slightly back from the main square madness. So yes, you’ll hear some of the evening activity (it’s Marrakech, not a monastery), but it’s not like you’re trying to sleep directly above a drum circle. The narrow streets leading to the entrance are typical medina maze stuff, so screenshot that location pin and maybe do a practice walk during daylight. Also, if you’re arriving by taxi, you’ll probably get dropped off near the square and walk the last bit – just heads up. But honestly, that short walk through the souks becomes part of the charm pretty quickly. The whole experience just feels right, you know? It’s got that 9.3 rating for good reasons, and after staying there, I get why people keep coming back to this particular spot in the Medina.

  And absolute delight was the location and the breakfast . All within walking distance. The hosts were impeccable . Kudos to Ali for sorting out the WiFi and ac which had a few glitches.   Ali and Simo have done a beautiful job turning their family home into a gorgeous place for guests to stay. The included breakfast was always delicious and filling, with a variety of food offered. The suite was clean, comfortable, and very spacious. The rooftop was a beautiful place to have breakfast and relax. The rooms were cleaned daily, and the location was absolutely perfect. We could not recommend it enough! Thank you Ali for all your care and recommendations, you made our stay sensational!
