Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of riads in Marrakech, and Riad Hart Essoura is honestly one of those places that gets everything right without trying too hard. It’s tucked away on Derb El Hammam in the medina – you know, that narrow street that feels like a proper secret when you’re winding through it for the first time. The thing is, once you step through those heavy wooden doors, you’re in this gorgeous traditional courtyard that just… breathes. I mean, the contrast from the bustling medina streets to this peaceful oasis is pretty incredible.

What really struck me is how they’ve managed to keep the authentic riad feel while actually making everything work for modern travelers. The rooms wrap around that central courtyard – some on the ground floor if you’re not into climbing traditional steep stairs, others up top with these amazing views over the medina rooftops. The staff genuinely knows their stuff about the city too, which matters when you’re trying to navigate the souks or figure out where to eat that isn’t a tourist trap. They’ll tell you which hammam to visit (hint: skip the fancy hotel ones and go where locals go), and honestly, their restaurant recommendations were spot-on every time.

The rooftop terrace is where you’ll probably end up spending your evenings – there’s something about watching the call to prayer echo across the medina while you’re sipping mint tea that just works. During the day, it’s perfect for escaping the intensity of exploring the souks. The pool area stays refreshingly cool even in the heat, though I’d say early morning or late afternoon are the best times to enjoy it. One thing I really appreciated is how quiet it stays despite being right in the heart of everything. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa, but the riad feels like its own little world. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the property too – I know that sounds basic, but you’d be surprised how many beautiful riads completely fail at this. If you’re someone who needs to stay connected or upload those Instagram shots, you’re covered. The whole experience feels genuine rather than performed, if that makes sense. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself lingering over breakfast in the courtyard, planning your day but not really wanting to leave.

  Beautiful peaceful Riad in the centre of Marrakech. The rooms were spacious and the courtyard and roof terrace were great spaces for relaxing. The staff were very friendly and attentive and gave us great local recommendations. The breakfast was delicious! Great location for visiting all the main sights in the medina.

  I don’t usually write reviews, but the guest relations at Riad Hart Essoura were so special I felt I had to. Like most Riads in Marrakech, it’s only accessible by foot – but Mohammed was incredibly responsive on WhatsApp and personally brought me to and from the drivers he arranged. The hotel manager even offered to drive me to an event I was attending nearby.
  
  The Riad itself is a little haven – super clean, cosy, quiet, and comfortable. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated with traditional touches. I was there for work this time, but I’ll definitely be back with family the next time I’m in Marrakech.

  Calm and peaceful Riad, just a minute's walk from the hustle bustle of the Souks. Attentive staff; always walked us to and from the taxi drop off point. A traditional meal was prepared for us on our first evening which was delicious.

  We loved the accommodation and location of this Riad. The staff are all incredibly kind and welcoming. We are English speakers with a few words of French (secondary school only) and they all communicated with us very well. The breakfast is amazing and we miss it already. The view from the roof terrace is beautiful. We were staying during Ramadan and the calls to prayer at sunset were breathtaking.

  Absolutely wonderful. We had an amazing time here. The staff was super friendly, caring and helpful. They helped us book a hammam not too far from the riad when we were struggling to find a decent one. Breakfast was delicious. The beds were comfy and always clean. My favorite place is the rooftop. We really felt welcome during our stay. On a scale from 1 to 10, this place is 10000.

  Beautifully restored Riad with small pool and roof terrace. Rooms decorated in traditional style with comfortable bed and seating area with fridge.
  Breakfast was excellent with fresh breads and pancakes, cheese yoghurt and fresh fruit as well as cakes and Jams.
  We also ordered the meal in the Riad for our first night which was a delicious chicken tajine.
  The Riad is located in easy walking distance to all of the sights as well as many restaurants and cafes.
  Its worth arranging a taxi through the Riad from the airport, especially if you arrive late as it is tricky to locate the door. Our driver was waiting for us when we landed and we were at the Riad within 30 minutes.
  All the staff at the Riad were really friendly and helpful with advice and tips on sightseeing and eating. They kindly made us a constant supply of Moroccan mint tea!
  If you want to visit a specific restaurant in Marrakesh its worth booking ahead, especially for those that have a roof terrace and you want to watch the sunset.
  
  What could be improved: We were woken early just after 6am by a noisy mixer/juicer in the kitchen area just below our room. We were visiting during Ramadan so this may have been a factor.
