Riad Iklil Overview
You know what? Riad Iklil isn’t going to win any awards for being the fanciest place in Marrakech, but there’s something genuinely charming about this little riad tucked away in the Touala Sidi Benslimane area. First thing you notice when you actually find it (and honestly, finding any riad in the medina is half the adventure) is that it feels more like staying at someone’s beautifully renovated family home than a hotel. The traditional courtyard setup is exactly what you’d hope for – you’ve got that classic Moroccan architecture with the central open space, intricate tilework that catches the light just right, and those thick walls that actually keep things cool during the day. I mean, the 7.7 rating makes sense because it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does well, it does really well.
The location is actually pretty sweet if you know your way around the medina. You’re close enough to the main souks that you can hear the morning bustle starting up – which is either charming or annoying depending on how you feel about being woken up by donkeys and moped horns around 7 AM. But here’s the thing: being slightly off the main tourist drag means you get to see how locals actually live, and honestly, that’s worth way more than being right next to Jemaa el-Fnaa where you’d pay double and deal with constant noise. The staff seems to genuinely care about the place, which you can tell because they’ll sit with you over mint tea and actually explain which hammam is worth your time (hint: not the touristy ones). What I really appreciated was how they handle the whole “this is your first time in Marrakech, isn’t it?” thing without making you feel like a complete tourist idiot. The rooms have that authentic riad feel – think carved wooden furniture, colorful textiles, and bathrooms with enough hot water for a proper shower after a long day of getting lost in the souks. Sure, the WiFi cuts out sometimes and the AC isn’t exactly industrial strength, but if you’re looking for a sterile hotel experience, you’re probably in the wrong country anyway.

Reviews of Riad Iklil
Pleasant – Flochlay from France – 18 June 2025 (6/10)

Great Personell, beautiful terrace, clean rooms, quiet!! Everything great! Will definitely come back!
Only little minus: Wi-Fi could be betterGreat people, great weather and comfy Riad – Fiona from United Kingdom – 4 April 2025 (8/10)
The staff at The Riad were very kind and helpful. The Riad is a 20 minute walk from the main square which we really liked. Breakfast was simple and was enjoyed on the beautiful terrace. There was a hairdryer but it was old and not great so I would take your own!
4 night stay – Ian from United Kingdom – 21 March 2025 (9/10)
We pre booked the taxi transfer from the airport to the Riad which was definitely a winner and worth the money. Imran met us from the taxi and walked us to the Riad, we’d have never found it on our own. From the moment we arrived, Riad Iklil felt like a home away from home. Imran, the host, was excellent, the nicest and most helpful people you could wish to meet. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic stay. The Riad itself is beautiful, with comfortable and quiet rooms, a stunning rooftop terrace, and beautiful food. The location is perfect too, close to great restaurants and shopping, yet tucked away in a peaceful alley.
We’d pre booked the evening meal for our first night which was beautiful and it meant we didn’t need to venture out in the dark until we’d got our bearings.
The following morning we went on a guided walk that we’d also pre booked. Whilst it was very informative and interesting, we didn’t feel it was value for the money we paid.
All the restaurants we ate in were lovely, in particular The Limoni, definitely worth looking up.Very good – Sandrine from France – 19 March 2025 (8/10)
