Riad Il Parco dei Principi Overview

You know what struck me first about Riad Il Parco dei Principi? The name sounds Italian, but this place is pure Marrakech magic tucked away on Rue Sidi el Yamani in the Mouassine quarter. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of the medina here – not the touristy Jemaa el-Fna chaos, but the real residential part where you’ll hear the call to prayer echo between the walls and catch glimpses of local life through doorways.

Finding it is honestly part of the adventure. The street’s narrow enough that you’ll probably walk past it twice (I did), but once you’re inside, it’s like stepping into someone’s elegant family home. The courtyard has this incredible orange tree – actually, several of them – and the scent hits you the moment you walk in. The tiles are that gorgeous deep blue and white zellige work that screams authentic Morocco, not the mass-produced stuff you see in some places. What I really loved was how quiet it gets in the evenings; you’re close enough to the souks to walk over in five minutes, but far enough that you’re not dealing with scooters honking at all hours.

The rooms have character – thick walls that actually keep things cool, and these amazing little details like hand-carved wooden shutters and traditional tadelakt plaster that feels smooth as silk. Don’t expect huge spaces; this is a traditional riad, so rooms are cozy rather than sprawling. But honestly, you’re barely going to be inside anyway. The rooftop terrace is where you’ll end up spending your mornings with mint tea, looking out over the medina rooftops toward the Atlas Mountains. Pro tip: if you’re here in winter, those mountains are snow-capped and absolutely stunning.

The staff knows their stuff too – they’ll arrange everything from airport transfers to desert trips, and they actually give good recommendations. None of that “oh, anywhere is fine” nonsense. They sent me to this tiny restaurant down near the Saadian Tombs that I never would have found otherwise. The only thing that might bug some people is that parking isn’t really a thing here (you’re in the medina, after all), but they’ll sort out where to leave your car if you’re driving. Most people just take a taxi to the medina entrance and walk the last bit anyway.

What makes this place special isn’t just the beautiful restoration work or the prime location – though both are excellent. It’s that it feels like staying in Morocco, not just visiting it. You’ll hear the sounds of the neighborhood: kids playing in the streets, vendors calling out their wares, the evening chatter from nearby rooftops. The breakfast spread includes proper Moroccan pastries alongside the usual suspects, and they make their own preserves from those courtyard oranges. It’s that kind of attention to detail that bumps it up from just another pretty riad to somewhere you’ll actually remember.

  • Great location and friendly staff, lovely breakfast and super peaceful experience overall – Ramstedt from Finland – 8 July 2025 (10/10)

The location was perfect and staff super friendly and helpful!

  • Perfect!! – Amberley from United Kingdom – 7 July 2025 (10/10)

The hotel is beautiful and in a great location. Our room was cool which was much needed in 40 degree heat, the pool clean and refreshing. Breakfast was fab. The very best thing about this place is the staff, Samir and Ibrahim went out of their way to help us during our stay and we couldn’t be more grateful! We will definitely stay here again.

  • Exceptional – Jasmin from Switzerland – 24 June 2025 (10/10)

Lovely and safe riad in the heart of the Medina

Our first time in Morocco – two women, feeling cautious. From the start, Samir (the host) was kind and helpful. He organised everything perfectly: transfer, meals, local tips.

The riad is charming, very clean, and centrally located. Our room was spacious, cool (with air conditioning), and well equipped. Breakfast was generous and traditional, with free tea and coffee.

We felt safe and truly welcome – thanks to the warm, respectful hospitality. We’ll definitely come back!

  • We honestly could not have asked for a better stay, only that it was too short! We will definitely be back! – Millie from United Kingdom – 24 June 2025 (10/10)

This was the most perfect stay for us in Marrakesh! The riad was beautiful with lots of spaces to relax, either down in the courtyard or on the rooftop. The staff were honestly incredible; Samir was so helpful, answering all our questions and helping us to book places for lunch and dinner. The location of the riad is super convenient, everything was in walking distance and we were able to find our way back to the riad without using maps. Our trip was fantastic from start to finish, we were picked up from the airport and brought back to the riad where we had the most delicious lunch in the courtyard by the pool! Breakfast every morning was fantastic, it was super relaxed and there was so set time! Could not have asked for better staff and customer service throughout.

    What could be improved: Nothing!

  • A lovely stay in Marrakech – John from Ireland – 17 June 2025 (10/10)

A fabulous Riad in the middle of the Medina, perfect for our visit.
Ayoub gave us a great welcome, and looked after us so well during our visit, along with the other lovely staff.
Breakfasts were fabolous, and set us up for the day.
It's a very relaxing Riad, in the middle of a buzzing city, we loved the pool for cooling down, and chilling.
The rooftop was very nice also.
A big thank you to everyone.

What could be improved: Everything was great.

  • Amazing riad within the Medina with incredible staff! – Alessio from Canada – 19 May 2025 (10/10)

This riad is a little oasis within the Medina! Close to everything. The staff was nothing but incredible. Samir and everyone else made this stay so much more than we expected. Thank you!!

  • Amazing location, clean and peaceful – Sumeyya from United Kingdom – 14 May 2025 (10/10)

Amazing location, short walk from all the main attractions. Felt safe and relaxed in the Riad. Highly recommend!

  • A Moorish riad in the Mouassine neighborhood creates an oasis for travelers – Linda from United States – 13 May 2025 (10/10)

This beautiful riad was an oasis from the hectic pace of the Medina. The Moorish design included hand painted doors and unique tilework. The riad is located in the upscale Mouassine neighborhood with high quality shops and a lively cafe. The breakfast was delicious and uniquely Moroccan. The owner was very helpful in scheduling transportation from the airport and train station.
