Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Riad Jawad & Spa on Route de l’Ourika, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s about three kilometers out from central Marrakech, which means you’re actually escaping the medina madness without being stuck in the middle of nowhere. The location in Oasis Hassan II is pretty clever, actually – you get that authentic Moroccan feel but with easier parking (trust me, this matters more than you think in Marrakech) and none of the constant horn-honking that’ll wake you up at 5 AM in the old city.

The riad itself has this wonderful contradiction going on – it feels intimate and traditional with all the classic Moroccan details you’d want, but then there’s this spa element that’s clearly been designed for people who appreciate a good massage after a day of haggling in the souks. What really struck me was how quiet it gets here in the evenings. You know that constant buzz of activity you get in most Marrakech hotels? Yeah, that’s not happening here. Instead, you’ll hear the call to prayer drifting over from the local mosque and maybe some distant music from the nearby douars, but it’s more atmospheric than disruptive. The staff – and I mean this genuinely – seem to actually enjoy working there, which you can tell makes a difference in how they treat guests.

Here’s what I really appreciated: they understand that you’re probably going to want to explore Marrakech proper during the day, so they’ve made it easy with decent taxi connections (though I’d still recommend arranging transport through them rather than trying to flag down random cabs). But honestly, some of my favorite moments were just lounging around the riad in the late afternoon when the light hits the courtyard just right. The spa treatments are solid too – not over-the-top luxury, but proper skilled therapists who know what they’re doing with traditional hammam techniques. The 8.9 rating makes sense when you consider that this place delivers on what it promises without trying to be something it’s not. It’s not going to blow your mind with cutting-edge design or celebrity chef restaurants, but if you want a genuinely relaxing base for exploring Marrakech with actual Moroccan character and staff who remember your name, this hits the mark pretty perfectly.

• Luxurious, Relaxing Stay – Someya from United Kingdom – 22 June 2025 (8/10)

  It was quiet and met my preference for wanting a morrocon riad with a luxury feel.
  
  What could be improved: Having to pay for water. Staff would tell you there was no water available and you need to use from the minibar. Ad stated rooms came with complimentary water. WiFi also wasn’t great in the Jade room.

  The Riad was stunning, a really lovely mix of modern and traditional which felt luxurious while homely. The food was really nice, breakfast a great selection (including fresh omelettes) and the tagine and pool snacks were delicious. The the pool was really nice and the sun beds so comfy. The spa/Hammam was reasonably priced and the best I have in 4 trips to Marrakech! The thing that really set the trip apart was the staff, they couldn't do enough to help especially the reception (Zainib) and Mouna who was everything, she brought us tea in the morning, served our lunch and generally greeted us with a smile.

  I just love this place so much. Its a great place when you want to relax, enjoy quality time with your partner or family, read books and do nothing. Its very quite place, you can enjoy nature sounds. The room was very spacious, cleaned every day and the bathroom looked like from palace. The staff is amazing (especially Juzef) — they will help you with everything. I had massage there, and it was also amazing. Totally recommend you this place if you want to escape from the crazy & busy world we are livin’ it.

  We thought everything was beautiful. The girls Zainab and Latifa were wonderful. The man in the restaurant and girl in the restaurant were also very good.
  
  What could be improved: We didn’t like the dogs having free roam all over the settee and loungers. They were also aggressive and the children were scared of them. For that reason I can’t give you top marks.

  very quiet location, very nice kept garden with attention to details, the swimming pool area is beautiful and the staff are great and very helpful. Super location for a few days getaway!
  
  What could be improved: they don’t serve alcohol but you can bring your own (they don’t mind) although a beer would be nice
