The location is honestly perfect if you know Marrakech at all. You’re deep enough in the medina to feel like you’re experiencing the real thing – I mean, you’ll hear the call to prayer echoing off the ancient walls and catch whiffs of tagines cooking in nearby homes – but you’re not so buried that you need a GPS and three local guides to find your way back after dinner. The address might look intimidating (DB El Guessaba sounds mysterious, right?), but it’s actually pretty straightforward once you get oriented. The narrow alleyways can be a bit tricky with luggage, but that’s just medina life.

What really sets this place apart is that rooftop – and I’m not just saying that because it’s in the name. Most riads have decent terraces, but this one actually has panoramic views that’ll make you forget you’re in the middle of a bustling city. You can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days, which happens more often than you’d think. The pool up there isn’t huge, but it’s perfectly sized for cooling off after wandering through the souks all day. I spent way too many evenings up there just watching the sun set over the medina while sipping mint tea.

The breakfast situation is solid too – they serve it on the rooftop when weather permits, and there’s something pretty magical about starting your day with fresh bread and local honey while the city slowly wakes up below you. You’ll hear the vendors setting up their stalls and the first motor scooters of the day navigating the narrow streets. The staff actually seems to care about the details, which isn’t always a given in tourist-heavy areas.

I’ll be honest, the rooms themselves aren’t the most spacious – this is a traditional riad after all, so don’t expect a modern hotel suite. But they’re beautifully maintained with that classic Moroccan tile work and carved wood details that feel authentic rather than touristy. The beds are comfortable (crucial after long days of walking), and the air conditioning actually works, which believe me, you’ll appreciate during the warmer months.

The whole experience feels more like staying at a sophisticated friend’s place than a hotel. Maybe it’s because the staff takes time to give you actual directions rather than just pointing vaguely toward the main square, or because they’re genuinely helpful with restaurant recommendations that aren’t just the usual tourist traps. When a place has a perfect rating, you sometimes wonder if it’s too good to be true, but Riad Jebly actually earns it by getting the little things right while delivering on the big promises.
