Riad Jnan El Cadi Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of riads in Marrakech, and honestly? Most of them feel like they’re trying way too hard to be “authentic.” But Riad Jnan El Cadi on Derb El Cadi – this place actually gets it right. First off, you need to know that finding it is part of the adventure. The narrow alley winds deeper into the medina than you’d expect, and just when you’re wondering if your taxi driver got lost (spoiler: he didn’t), you’ll spot the discreet entrance. The location is actually perfect – you’re properly in the medina, hearing the call to prayer echo off ancient walls, but you’re tucked away from the main tourist drags where the carpet sellers get aggressive.
The moment you step through that heavy wooden door, the contrast hits you. Outside it’s all chaos and donkey carts and mint tea vendors shouting in three languages, but inside? It’s this incredible oasis with a courtyard that makes you forget you’re in the middle of one of the world’s busiest medinas. The architecture is the real deal – I mean, you can tell when someone actually restored a historic building versus when they just slapped some zellige tiles on modern walls. The rooms wrap around the central courtyard in traditional style, and honestly, the sound of the fountain at night is better than any white noise machine. What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to add modern comforts without ruining the vibe. The Wi-Fi actually works (crucial if you’re trying to navigate the medina with Google Maps), and the bathrooms have proper water pressure – you’d be surprised how rare that is in some of these old riads.
The staff here knows their stuff, and I don’t just mean they’re polite. When I mentioned wanting to find a specific spice blend at the souks, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward Jemaa el-Fnaa like most places would. He actually drew me a little map showing which stalls have the best quality saffron and warned me about the tourist traps. That’s the kind of local knowledge that makes a difference. The rooftop terrace is where you’ll want to spend your evenings – you can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days, and the sunset views over the medina are honestly spectacular. Pro tip: the mint tea up there around 6 PM is when the light gets really magical for photos. I will say, if you’re someone who needs total silence to sleep, bring earplugs – the medina never really goes quiet, and you’ll hear everything from late-night conversations to the occasional scooter echoing off the walls. But that’s part of the charm, you know? You’re not staying in some sterile hotel district; you’re actually living in Marrakech for a few days.

Reviews of Riad Jnan El Cadi
Exceptional – Nyárádi from Hungary – 8 July 2025 (10/10)
The manager spoke really well in english, he and all the staff was wonderfully helpful. They waited for us at the airport with a minibus and after we arrived, the manager sat us down with a map and provided all the directions, useful informations and tips for our stay in Marrakesh (including safety tips, very useful!!!) They helped us book transfers, organize desert trip, and were available 24/7.
Having a pool is an essential when staying in Marrakesh, this place has a clean one and we could use it late in the evening as well. Big thumbs up, thank you.
Breakfast was authentic, and they provided wine or beer for a reasonable price for guests who requested it.
Had fresh towels every day put in our room, and the rooms were tidy. Air condition worked well, but didn't need it really because of good air ventillatiom in the rooms.
Location also great: this place is a quiet escape from the jungle of the Medina in a small street, while being in the center of it.Fantastic stay in central Marrakesh! 😊 – Susan from United Kingdom – 17 June 2025 (10/10)
Lovely pool area, beautiful room, fantastic breakfasts, location near to the souks, lovely calm riad in the centre of town.

Absolute gem in the a great location. We booked the transfer through the Riad and they showed us directly to the front door which was especially useful when arriving at night! Lovely walk to the main square (10/15 mins ish) through the market stalls. Close to many attractions. More importantly though the staff were brilliant! Abdu and Medi (apologies if spellings are wrong!) were wonderful and super helpful, as were all staff we encountered. Nothing ever felt like too much to ask and all were friendly. We felt right at home. We were offered mint tea and biscuits on arrival. We ordered some food when sunbathing by the pool (which was a bit too cold for myself to get in but my boyfriend did brave it) and that was delicious! Breakfast was lovely too, especially on the beautiful terrace. The riad itself was gorgeous. We were given excellent recommendations for food and drinks, as well as various attractions. Would definitely recommend and will return if I’m ever back in Marrakesh.
What could be improved: I loved it all and this wasn’t a problem for us but the beds were a bit narrow so if you’re someone who likes your space you may struggleCentral location but quiet, helpful staff. – Nathan from United Kingdom – 24 April 2025 (9/10)
Great location, close to centre but quiet. Staff very helpful and attentive. Lovely dinner at the Riad, good if you want a bit of piece from the craziness of the Square! Would be tricky to find but we were met by the staff and guided in. Sulyeman offered plenty of options for visiting and meal options etc. Good bathrooms in the suites.
What could be improved: Nothing, really hit the spot!Fabulous and would recommend to others! – Jade from United Kingdom – 23 April 2025 (10/10)
