I mean, the address might look intimidating on paper, but honestly, getting a bit lost in those narrow medina streets is half the charm – and the riad staff will meet you at Place Ben Salah if you’re dragging luggage, which is honestly a godsend because those cobblestones are murder on wheels.

The place has this authentic riad feel that a lot of the more touristy spots have lost. The central courtyard is where you’ll probably spend most of your time – there’s something about the way the light filters down through the opening that just makes you want to sit there with mint tea for hours. The rooms are what you’d expect from a proper 4-star riad, but it’s the details that get you. The staff actually remembers your name (not just for the first day), and they know the medina like the back of their hand. Need to find that specific spice vendor everyone talks about? They’ll draw you a little map. Want to avoid the main tourist crush at Jemaa el-Fnaa? They’ll tell you exactly when to go.

What really sets this place apart – and I think this is why it’s got that 9.2 rating – is how it manages to feel both peaceful and connected to the medina energy. You’re close enough to everything that matters, but when you retreat to your room or that gorgeous courtyard, the chaos just melts away. The breakfast is actually worth getting up for (the fresh bread alone), and they’re flexible about timing, which matters when you’re dealing with jet lag or late nights exploring. The rooftop terrace gives you those classic medina views everyone’s chasing, but without feeling like you’re in a postcard. It’s just… well, it’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay if you can swing it, because checking out feels like leaving a friend’s house rather than just another hotel.

  Location was perfect for us once we found our bearings. All the staff were so helpful and kind, even taking us to a nearby cafe on our first day for lunch. We felt very cared for and well looked after.
  There was a good selection at breakfast and omelettes made on request. The Karmela was an oasis of calm and tranquility, our room was lovely with its own roof terrace.

  Our stay at Riad Karmela Princesse was absolutely fantastic and completely made our stay in Marrakech! We were a group of 4 friends and booked a family suite. I messaged the Riad in advance and asked for 4 separate beds. All communication with the Riad was promptly replied to. The information email from the Riad we received at the time of booking was really helpful, we used the Riad for transfers from and to the airport, there's no way we would have found our way there without their transfer. Our room was perfect, Riad Karmela and Karmela Princesse are absolutely stunning. We ate there on the first night and it was one of our best meals of our stay. Breakfast was fab too. The staff honestly cannot do enough for you, thank you to Mohamed, Hakim and Majid and all the staff at both Riads they really did make our stay so special.

  Beautiful place to stay. Inconspicuous from the outside, beautifully furnished inside. Comfortable rooms, tea set, fresh fruit in the room every day, delicious breakfasts. Very helpful and friendly staff, nothing is impossible for them, you have everything you ask for. The Riad made our trip to Marrakesh unforgettable.

  Location is great as close to the square and the souks. You can book your activities directly with the riad if that's your preference. The hospitality is second to none. Great staff that are attentive and aim to make your stay as enjoyable as possible!

  The property provided excellent hospitality for the duration of our stay. The staff accommodated us in every way possible, providing information, looking after our needs and the food and ambience was excellent. The location of the property is exceptional, just two minutes walk from the medina. The property is kept to an exceptionally high standard, very clean and constantly maintained.
  Our room was fantastic and cleaned every day. There is a nice terrace to take in some sunshine on the rooftop. The staff are very helpful and even arranged a taxi to the nightclub.
  Overall we would highly recommend, the staff and host couldn’t do enough for us. Well done 😀
