Riad Kenza Overview

You know what? I was honestly skeptical when I first pulled up to Riad Kenza on that dusty stretch of Route Amezmiz. I mean, it’s not exactly in the heart of the medina where most tourists expect to stay, but that actually turned out to be one of its biggest advantages. The location in Tasseltant – which sounds exotic but is really just a quieter neighborhood in the Menara district – means you get that authentic Moroccan riad experience without the constant sound of scooters and tour groups echoing off ancient walls at 6 AM.

The moment you step through those heavy wooden doors though, it’s like entering a completely different world. The central courtyard has this incredible fountain that actually works (you’d be surprised how many riads have decorative fountains that are bone dry), and the sound of trickling water mixed with birds chirping from the orange trees creates this almost meditative atmosphere. The staff here – and I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Morocco – genuinely seem to care about getting the details right. They’ll sit down with you over mint tea and actually explain the best times to visit different souks, not just hand you a generic map with tourist traps circled. The rooms themselves have that perfect balance of traditional Moroccan craftsmanship and modern comfort that’s harder to find than you’d think. The beds are legitimately comfortable (not just “good for Morocco” comfortable), and the bathrooms have proper water pressure – something I learned not to take for granted after a few unfortunate experiences in other riads.

What really sets this place apart is how it feels like staying with family who happen to have impeccable taste in interior design. The breakfast spread on the rooftop terrace is ridiculous – fresh orange juice from those trees I mentioned, homemade pastries that put most hotel buffets to shame, and coffee that’s strong enough to fuel your haggling energy for the day ahead. From up there, you can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days, which happen more often than you’d expect. The evening call to prayer drifts over from nearby mosques, but it’s not overwhelming – more like a gentle reminder that you’re somewhere truly different. Sure, you’ll need to take a taxi or rent a car to get to the main tourist areas (about 10-15 minutes to Jemaa el-Fnaa), but honestly, that daily journey through residential Marrakech neighborhoods gives you glimpses of local life that most visitors never see. Plus, the taxi drivers all know this place – just say “Riad Kenza, Route Amezmiz” and they’ll nod knowingly. With a 9.5 rating, it’s clearly not just me who thinks this place gets the riad experience exactly right.

Amazing welcome, friendly and knowlegeable staff

What could be improved: Road noise but that isn't the fault of the staff

  • Fantastic accommodation by the airport – Julie from United Kingdom – 13 May 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful large rooms and a tranquil environment only minutes from the airport. Ahmed and Abdul were extremely welcoming and helpful.

What could be improved: The dinner was OK and having to choose from the menu in advance was fine, having to decide how many cans of coke in advance was a little bit strange.

  • Exceptional – Samuel from United States – 6 May 2025 (10/10)

The Riad itself was very nice and very close to the airport which was great. Ahmed was amazing and very accommodating, and even went as far as to get me items from the store when I needed them. I will definitely be returning to stay here if I return to Marrakesh and would highly recommend this place to anyone staying.

Thank you again Ahmed for your help and hospitality!

  • Truly exceptional in every measure. – Mohammed from United Kingdom – 8 April 2025 (10/10)

First time staying in a Riad, and more than likely going forward it will always be a Riad for me. The Riad is well looked after, very clean and sufficiently staffed. Not all Riad’s offer a half board service, so i was pleased to be able to have a delicious and very authentic dinner at the Riad after a long day.

However, the best part of my stay by far was having Abdul and Ahmed be our hosts. They gave us great advice, told us what to look out for, what to avoid and what to definitely do. They were kind, polite and exceptionally transparent about everything, and I honestly can’t rate the hospitality they provided high enough.

I will be returning to Riad Kenya and bringing the rest of my family.

Thank you again for a lovely and memorable time.

  • Heavenly. – Blanka from Hungary – 6 April 2025 (10/10)

  • Superb – Ronnie from Netherlands – 31 March 2025 (9/10)

Nice Riad with excellent breakfast, cooked at 6:30 upon our request.

  • A relaxing and beautiful Riad– Highly Recommended – Daniel from Czech Republic – 25 March 2025 (10/10)

Our stay at this riad was absolutely fantastic! The location is perfect—just 10 minutes from the city center and only 8 minutes from the airport, making it super convenient.

From the moment we arrived, we received a warm and friendly welcome. The staff gave us great advice on the best places to visit in Marrakech, where to eat, and even tips on what to avoid to steer clear of scams. Their hospitality felt like a family approach, making us feel right at home.

Breakfast was a real highlight—rich, delicious, and clearly homemade, adding a special touch to our mornings. To top it off, we were lucky enough to receive a room upgrade, which made our stay even more enjoyable.

Overall, a beautiful and relaxing place to stay with wonderful service. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Marrakech! Thank you so much for making our trip memorable!
