Riad Kenzo Overview
You know what struck me first about Riad Kenzo? The fact that it’s tucked away on Rue Riad Laarousse in the heart of the medina, but somehow feels like this peaceful oasis once you step inside. I mean, you’re literally walking through the maze of narrow alleyways – past the spice vendors and that corner shop that sells the best mint tea leaves – and then suddenly you’re in this gorgeous traditional courtyard that just makes you exhale. The contrast is pretty incredible, honestly.
The thing about staying in a riad versus those big chain hotels outside the medina walls is that you’re actually living the Marrakech experience. When I stayed there, I could hear the call to prayer from the nearby mosque at dawn (which, fair warning, takes some getting used to if you’re a light sleeper), and by 7 AM the medina was already buzzing with locals heading to work and vendors setting up their stalls. But here’s what I loved – step back into Riad Kenzo’s central courtyard and it’s like someone turned the volume way down. The traditional architecture does something magical with sound, and honestly, sitting there with morning coffee while listening to the fountain was probably my favorite part of each day.
The rooms themselves feel authentically Moroccan without being kitschy about it – you know how some places go overboard with the “exotic” theme? Not here. The tilework is beautiful (and actually looks hand-done, not mass-produced), the beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are modern enough that you’re not roughing it. I stayed during shoulder season in October, which turned out to be perfect timing – warm enough for the rooftop terrace in the evenings, but not so hot that you’re melting during afternoon exploration. Speaking of the rooftop, you can actually see the Koutoubia Mosque from up there, which gives you this great reference point for navigating the medina later. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood – they pointed me toward this tiny restaurant about five minutes away that I never would have found on my own, and it ended up being one of my best meals in Morocco. With an 8.7 rating, I’d say Riad Kenzo has figured out that sweet spot between authentic local experience and comfortable accommodation that a lot of places struggle with.

An authentic stay in the Medina – Irene from Australia – 29 May 2025 (9/10)
A truly authentic and beautiful Riad experience in the Medina
Staff were very helpful and Azizas cooking wonderful ! Thank you Kamel and Mohamed for organising the great tours and also Thankyou Hakima You all made our stay in Marrakech memorable
What could be improved: The alleyway is a bit off putting at first sightPerfect for a few days with only minor inconviences – Hazel from United Kingdom – 25 April 2025 (9/10)
The staff were all very warm and welcoming, the breakfast was delicious and there were different options each day which was nice to try different local cuisine. The location was also perfect for both getting from the airport, going on day excursions and walking around the souks!
What could be improved: The shower was not up to our expectations, which werent very high… the water would turn on boiling hot, then go to a drip and be freezing. I dreaded taking a shower, and one day had to stop because it was so bad. Another thing was finding the Riad. It was quite difficult to find as the address on booking.com was wrong, search Riad Kenzo on google maps and follow that instead.. its down a small side street which looks very dodgey but we had no problem once we found it.Amazing stay from arrival to departure – Nuala from Ireland – 7 April 2025 (10/10)
Great experience from arrival to departure, the riad was gorgeous, colourful, spacious and traditional.
The staff were amazing, always on hand, and went above and beyond. I learnt a lot about Moroccan life from the staff which really added to my experience. Loved those conversations.
We ordered food in a few nights while staying and it was incredible. I would highly recommend Riad Kenzo to future travellersExceptional – Barg from Italy – 5 March 2025 (10/10)
Perfect position in the medina, ideal to explore the city and its various tourist attractions. Close to the pick up point for escursions with Getyourguide.
The staff (Ayoub and Mohammed) was extremely friendly and more than helpful giving us plenty of advise or just talking so that we came to know the city, its inhabitants, mentality and traditions very well.
They offer a rich breakfast preparing different things every morning. Also homemade, traditional dinner was excellent.
The hammam and massage booked there was magnificent. Very nice roof top.
I absolutely recommend this riad.Great 3 nights. Fantastic friendly staff – Lorraine from United Kingdom – 14 February 2025 (10/10)

The room and the rest of the Riad were beautifully decorated and designed.
The roof terrace gave excellent views and was a lovely environment to catch the afternoon sun.
The breakfast was delicious. Good and plentiful.
We loved it!
What could be improved: Nothing.A really lovely stay with beautiful decor in a central location – Louise from United Kingdom – 2 January 2025 (8/10)
Beautiful, traditional decor, lovely rooftop terrace, delicious breakfast and welcoming, friendly staff.
Very good – Joy from Singapore – 31 December 2024 (8/10)
The breakfast tasted exceptional! The foyer area were really nice and the hotel staff were so welcoming to us 🙂 They also allowed us to keep our luggages there after check out and was kept them safe.
What could be improved: Normal speaking volumes at night travels through the entire facility which we were not quite used to, therefore had to be reminded many time to be quieter.
