You know what? I’ve stayed at plenty of riads in Marrakech, and honestly, most of them try way too hard to be Instagram-perfect. Riad Kismet is different – it actually feels like someone’s elegant home that just happens to take guests. The moment you step through that heavy wooden door on Derb Dabachi (and yes, you’ll probably walk past it twice because these medina addresses are tricky), you’re hit with this incredible sense of calm. The courtyard has this gorgeous fountain that’s not just for show – the sound of water actually drowns out the scooters and donkey carts from the narrow street outside.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve nailed the details without making it feel stuffy. The rooms have these beautiful tadelakt walls that are smooth as silk, and I mean that literally – you’ll find yourself running your hands along them. The beds are ridiculously comfortable, which isn’t always a given in traditional riads, and they’ve got proper hot water pressure (trust me on this one, it matters after a day wandering the souks). The rooftop terrace is where you’ll want to spend your evenings – you can see the Koutoubia minaret in the distance, and during sunset, the whole medina turns this incredible golden color. I actually ended up canceling dinner plans one night just to stay up there with a glass of mint tea.

The staff here genuinely knows their stuff about Marrakech. Ahmed at the front desk doesn’t just give you the standard tourist spiel – he’ll tell you which hammam is actually worth your time (hint: skip the touristy ones near Jemaa el-Fnaa) and where to find the best tagines that locals eat. The location is perfect if you want to be in the medina but not right in the chaos – you’re about a ten-minute walk from the main square, but the alley is quiet enough that you can actually sleep at night. Parking isn’t an issue because, well, there are no cars in the medina, but they’ll arrange for someone to meet you at the nearest drop-off point and help with your luggage. Oh, and here’s something I appreciated – they don’t blast traditional music in the common areas all day like some places do. Sometimes you just want to enjoy the natural sounds of the riad itself. With a 9.8 rating, you’d expect it to be flawless, and honestly? It pretty much is. My only tiny complaint is that the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, but honestly, that might be a blessing in disguise when you’re trying to disconnect and soak in the whole Marrakech experience.

  We cancelled our original Riad as we had been advised to book inside the Median and switched to Riad Kismet. It was a short walk from the main square and easy to find (after a few attempts!). Stephanie and her team could not have been more thoughtful – with short notice, breakfast was adapted for gluten free guests with omelettes, and introductions to local restaurants and details of places to visit WhatsApped through. Stephanie also booked our guide Amine, who was so good we extended our tour with him. The building was very cool (in terms of temperature and presentation) and had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. The rooftop terrace had great views across the city and was shaded in parts – needed as it was hot during the day.

  Stephanie was amazingly gentle! We had a lot of issues with the flights' delay and she helped us so much with taxi and reachable all day long. The Riad is so beautiful and was all for us 6. Breakfast super good highly reccomend!

  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Riad Kismet. The Riad is even better in person than what the pictures shows. It is freshly renovated and has been artistically decorated. Loved the lights, wall decorations, tile, rooftop patio and the courtyard. And the location is great, just a few minutes from Jemaa-el-Fana but still mostly quite in the night.
  
  The host Stephanie is very friendly and accommodating person. She met us for checkin and gave us a tour of the property and advised on activities and places to visit / eat. She stayed in touch throughout our visit and even let us leave our luggage at the place on the day of the departure as our flight was in the night.
  
  The house is maintained by wonderful Bushra who also makes and serves wonderful breakfast every day. Just like Stephanie, she was very helpful.

  Beautiful contemporary twist on a traditional property with gorgeous outdoor spaces and a central courtyard.
  The dining and living area was also very relaxing.
  Stéphanie was on hand and only a phone call away if we needed anything and was super helpful. The house was tended by Bouchra who fed us with huge Moroccan breakfasts that set us up for a days of wandering around the Medina.
  The location is excellent it’s just off the main square and you can easily find your bearings.
  This was my second trip to Marrakech and I couldn’t recommend this property more, it is a peaceful oasis in the heart of the bustle.
